I would highly recommend this tour, which combines some food tasting - sashimi and sweets - with a stroll in the main geisha district, finishing up with a fascinating glimpse of the gold leaf craft, unique to Kanazawa. Ian was a very insightful and pleasant guide, sharing his extensive knowledge of Japanese culture and Kanazawa's history. Watch out for the quiz at the end of the tour ;-)

We took the Artisans of Kanazawa Tour with Sachiko. We had a fascinating visit to a Gold Lacquer Master and a Kimono Painting Master. Sachiko was a wonderful guide, she spoke very good English, was funny and knowledgeable and so keen to make sure we had a wonderful day. She went the extra mile to make sure that we saw the Kenrokuen Gardens and the Samurai Quarter.

Jun (Junki) was such a wonderful driver and guide - he was friendly and able to speak freely in both Japanese and English for our small group of three. He kept a flexible schedule to make sure we got to the places we wanted to and didn’t rush us. We decided to just visit Shirakawago and Takayama We had a terrific day thanks to his help.

We had such an amazing day with our guide Jorge. It felt like we covered the whole of Kanazawa. All manageable by foot. He took us to hidden gems where there were no other tourists. We explored the most beautiful gardens, visited the markets and shopping areas also enjoyed a lovely lunch. Jorge was a wealth of knowledge and managed to tailor our tour to exactly what we wanted. He guided us perfectly so we knew exactly where we were going and he always checked in with us to make sure we were getting what we wanted from our tour. Jorge is an exceptional tour guide who our group would highly recommend.

The guide Tetsuro was friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. I appreciate him sharing the rich history and culture of Kanazawa and the surrounding region. He was patient in accommodating my requirements. For anyone visiting Kanazawa, an excursion to Shirakawago, Hida Furukawa, Takayama are a must. The tour company Kanazawa Tours exceeded my expectations.

Fantastic day tour with Sachiko Nakai who was a perfect guide, personable, and informative who ensured we got the best out of our first day in Kanazawa. Lunch stop was fab noodles and jazz records plus our visit to the Geisha House was timed to avoid the crowds. Our time spent with Artisan Masters in the afternoon and Ohi Museum where we were accompanied by Ohi Chozaemon was a highlight of our visit to Japan. A nice touch afterwards was the photos she sent to remind us of our day. We highly recommend her!

Karolina is a lovely person as well as an excellent guide. She takes her job seriously so she is full of historical, as well as fun facts, that made the tour a wonderful experience. She knows Kanazawa really well - I was so happy that we were able to walk everywhere. Thank you Karolina for such an amazing morning.

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour with Zozomi Kondo, who was an outstanding guide. Her explanations and answering of questions were second to none and her enthusiasm, warmth and humour made the excursion not just educational but also great fun. The Samurai house was fascinating and also had a beautiful garden which was a delight. In an increasingly technological world it was wonderful too to see the artisans of Kanazawa ( umbrella makers and hand painted Kimonos)investing so much time and attention to their craft and producing such beautiful work. We left with very fond memories of Kanazawa.

Our guide, Nozomi was lovely. Nozomi's knowledge of Kanazawa (and Japanese history and culture more generally) was excellent, and she managed our time and activities perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Nozomi in Kanazawa, and would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Reiko was a wonderful guide - informative, friendly, light hearted and very helpful. It was like touring with an old friend. She gave us information we would not have had if we went around on our own. She also customized the sights based on other things we were doing that day. I would highly recommend her.

We spent an amazing day with Karolina Yoshioka, who made Kanazawa shine even in the cold pouring rain! It was fantastic to hear her observations and insights living in the city as an expatriate—she has both a deep knowledge of the city and its unique history as well as a willingness to answer questions about day to day current life. She thoughtfully assessed our interests and was incredibly flexible throughout the day. Spending most of it on foot enabled us to enjoy some serendipitous moments and some unexpected snacks. She knew distances and times required and managed to cover all our priorities within our scheduled time. We really enjoyed meeting her and recommend her highly as a guide to this charming place—just be sure to bring your umbrella (a hat and gloves also helped with the chilly weather!), as well as comfortable walking shoes!

We spent a great few hours walking through Kanazawa in the evening with Tetsuro Aida. His deep knowledge of the different neighborhoods, temples, and shrines we visited all helped to provide a great introduction to the city’s rich history. He also took us off the beaten path to visit some unusual sights (including a spinning library!). We appreciated his sense of humor and his willingness to entertain any type of question. He took us to an amazing restaurant for a traditional Udon meal (with great tempura on the side) that definitely warmed us up after the cold and rain. The relatively small size of the group (just six of us) made for a nice and convivial evening—Tetsuro provided us with an excellent overview of Kanazawa.

We had a lovely time with Sachiko-san! In spite of the rain and the short duration, she made sure we were always engaged and comfortable, while also giving insightful details and taking some lovely pictures. The visit to Nomura-ke residence was really good, but a walk through Kenroku-en overtook it to be the best time we've had in our trip to Japan. Highly recommend
