It is a very important aspect to our culture and history as the river is of great significance in the Tonga culture. For example we have the coming of age ceremony that is performed every year at boiling pot and the rainmaking ceremony done further upstream before the drop of the cascading down the Batoka Gorge

He was such a warmhearted man which took very good care of us and made us laugh and feel safe. We talked to him about a project we are running so he gave us contacts and invited us to a school where we could make a visit and learn from their program. This was so helpful and really nothing that he had to do since it was outside his service, We also booked a sunset cruise through him and he made sure we got the best service and experience! - stephenf1970 contributionsBeyond descriptionGo Touchdown tours arranged this stop for us. "Smoke that Thunders" is the native name of the Falls. We were there during the rainy season so the water volume was high therefore the mist was high and the falling mist drenched us even with ponchos. You can see the mist from several kilometers away as well has hear the roar of the falls. This was worth the extra effort to get to Zimbabwe from Joe'burg. First I took my family with two small children and Livingstone Lourie Safari made it seem effortless. Second time around I took my mother who was visiting and the third time I had a large group of friends and family. Each group was handled well. I was picked up from my hotel, taken to the border, enjoyed the services in Chobe and taken back to my hotel safe and sound. The food was also very good.
