          Unforgettable way to see rhinos
Really enjoyed our afternoon walk. Came from Zimbabwe and were easily met by our guide at the Zambia bridge border, after confirming the day before. Experience was a combination of riding in a 4x4 into the park and then a very informative walk, discussing plants, insects, birds and animals that we saw. Walk concluded with an up-close observation of two male rhinos. Great guide. Felt very comfortable with our teenagers, following the given guidance. Unforgettable experience.

Good way to really see all of the Falls Zambia side from all points of view
Was picked up at my hotel. Went to the Falls with the guide and driver. We began by walking to the bottom of the Falls and looking up, enjoying the grandour. Then we walked all the way up and saw the Falls from many points of view. The guide knew alot about birds and animals and was a great guide.

Amazing tour and Superb Tour Guide
The tour was excellent and our tour guide was warm, knowledgeable and attentive to details. During the tour he even offered to keep my water and sweater for me. On top of that, he drove us into town to an ATM at our request. The view of the fall was amazing and being an elderly tourist, our tour guide made it pleasant and comfortable for us to enjoy both the spectaculouss view and the leisurely walk. I would recommend this tour to anyone with no reservation!

Visit to Chitabe recommended by Savannah Safaris and Tours
After having failed to see a Cheetah in the wild, I approached Savannah Safaris and Tours to help me fulfill my dream. Emmelyn of Savannah suggested that I visit Chitabe Camp in Okavango. I stayed in Chitabe Camp for 3 nights and I must admit that it was the best Safari experience I ever I had. I could see a pride of 19 lions, apart from 4 one month old cubs, 3 Cheetahs,4 sightings of leopards, baby hippos/giraffes and a wide variety of birds. Savannah Safaris made my trip a memorable one with absolutely no hiccups anywhere during my stay and Emmelyn was always a call away to help me when needed. Chitabe camp is a beautiful place located in the midst of the park. The staff is very friendly and the guide Tank was eager to see that I have good sightings Thank you Emmelyn, for a great experience

Highly recommend this walk especially if you want to see rhinos!
We really enjoyed this nature walk. The guide was knowledgeable and we loved the feeling of being the only ones in the park as it was early. We saw birds, antelope and Giraffe with the highlight being the rhinos.

          Great walking experience!
We were a group of 5 that got a great guided walk in the national park. Our guide showed us plants, trees, animal tracks, birds along the way. We saw zebras, giraffes, warthog etc and the grand finale was the white rhinos. Friendly and safe. All in all highly recommended!

          Amazing
Have done this place twice in July 2018 and May 2019 and i total loved the experience.. But off course the Safari Ride in July was better than May 2019 one. Should do this one. Saw some White Rhino too.

          Most Excellant
My trip was just the best 1 day safari arranged through Savanah. They looked after us fantastically and we saw loads of animals and birds. I have travalled a great deal but my combination of DEvils Pool, 3 days rafting the Zambize and Botswana safari made this my best ever adventure. Lunch on our Safari was great. 4 of us went all English and we all tipped our guides, Sad others did not, the guides were 110% fantastic. Please if you go help the guides more by showing your appreciation . Barry WAldock, Bedfordshire, England.

          Amazing Experience of a Lifetime
I was privileged enough to be staying in Livingstone for twelve days and to be able to join a walking tour of Mosi Oa Tunya with the incomparable Chiinga. First I’ll explain that as a person with degenerative disc disease, my back is often in pain and walking can be hard. This walk was around 3 hours and as there was a lady on the tour with a bad knee, we took it easier and were driven from one spot to another, so actual walking time was around 90 minutes and not over the toughest terrain; enough to feel the exercise, not enough to harm. This adaptive approach to the guests on any given day I later realised is a hallmark of Savannah’s work. The walk itself was beautiful; peaceful, impressive seeing dawn over the park, and scintillating because of Chiinga’s range of knowledge. Even Evans our bus driver knew so much about the local flora and fauna that he was educating us on the trees while Chiinga found a guard to accompany us. And when we began, I can honestly say that in all my years of foraging and hiking through the countryside in Europe and South America, I’ve never met anyone whose knowledge had such gentle command, depth and scope. I felt confident that I could track and distinguish between many of the Big Five tracks and scat after this one walk, that I knew how to respect the animals and to stay safe being so close to them, and that Chiinga knew how to manoeuvre through this space causing no damage but respecting and honouring this land he’d grown up in. From seeds on the ground to birds in the trees, there was no question we asked that wasn’t carefully and considerately answered. My highlight was seeing the family of five white rhino we’d tracked for an hour, and also how our accompanying guard stayed with us even when learning of his wife’s illness, until we got back to an outpost and he was relieved. The national park guards as well as Savannah are dedicated to the guests safety and experience and that was impressive to watch. I felt completely safe at all times. It came as a big shock to learn of Chiinga's demise yesterday in the park and yet I can’t help but think that if he had to go, it would have been there doing what he loved the best and what he dedicated his life to. And the knowledge that he trained his staff and fellow guides to his extremely high and loving standards means that Savannah will stay one of the premier tour guiding and birding companies in Livingstone. The legacy he leaves is testament to his incredibly likeable and engaging nature. I’m only sorry my children won’t be able to meet him on our return trip but I’m confident that those left behind will honour his memory and this amazing work, connecting us back to our roots and a love for nature that is so needed in these times. Thank you, Chiinga and Savannah Southern Safaris.

          Black-cheeked Lovebird Search
My wife and I booked very experienced bird guide Chiinga for an expedition to the Machile area to search for the rare Zambian endemic Black-cheeked Lovebird. It was a long day (in our 4 wheel drive vehicle - absolutely essential even during the dry season): we met Chiinga at 04.30 and got back to Livingstone at 20.00 but it was very successful with great views of the lovebirds and enjoyable too. Chiinga was great company and clearly cares greatly about Zambia's birds and environment and is working with the villagers in the area where the lovebird lives to develop ecotourism there. So, if you are a keen birder and want to see one of Zambia's two endemic bird species, Chiinga and Savannah Southern Safaris is very highly recommended - in fact essential!

          Rhinos!
We booked this nature walk to see the rhinos, as there are sadly none in most of the other Zambian National Parks. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgable as well as being incredibly eagle-eyed. We saw wildebeest, zebra, impala, warthogs, plenty of birds and (most importantly) the rhinos. We saw six rhinos in total, including a calf that was only 2 months old. Being on foot was definitely more exciting than a game drive and allowed us to feel very up close and personal with the animals. The only downside is that the walking portion was less than 2hrs when we were told it would be 2-3hrs. Even after seeing the rhinos, it would have been nice to continue walking for a bit longer. All-in-all a good afternoon trip and would recommend to any nature lover.

2 days touring, inc Art/Artisan, Livingstone town, Morning Safari & Village Tour
We booked 2 days of tours with this company, and we were completely satisfied. Here are some things that we would have liked to know ahead of time to help future travelers: We received a pick-up from the airport - very convenient! - and went straight to the Arts/Artisans tour. I expected this would be more traditional crafts, but it was focused on up-and-coming artists. That was great too! We visited a metal and glass artists studio using found materials, as well as a leather workshop (where leather is sewn into bags) and the National Art Gallery (which is in a fascinatingly remote setting). Everything is for sale at both locations. After, we did the Livingstone Town Tour. Our guide for this day, Chinga (sp?), was extremely knowledgeable. Zambia has a relatively short history as does what you will see on the town tour. If you tell the guide what you are specifically interested in, he can customize his comments for you. We did not visit any businesses on this tour. These 2 tours took about 4 hours. The next day, we did the walking safari. You should know that additional people may join your tour, and that will not change the price to you. We had asked to join an already-booked safari in order to moderate the price. In the end, additional people were added to our safari, and we still paid quite a bit ($130 for the day each). So this is certainly not cheap. You will ride to pick up the armed guard and then head to the park, where you will park off of a dirt road and go for a walk through the scrub. You can choose a nature walk (which includes comments on the plants, animal signs like tracks and droppings, and birds) and then hopefully find the rhinos. Other groups signed up just to try and see the rhinos, so you could clarify this if that was ideal for you. After this, we had signed up for the falls tour but given our misunderstanding about what we would see on the artisan tour, we opted to switch to a Village Tour where many of the crafts sold in curios are made. The timing of this day was a bit confusing - I had understood it went from 6:30 to 14:30 but then we were told we would be picked back up at 14:30. However, the guides discussed with us, and we agreed to go straight to the village. There, a local resident took us on a tour. The only thing I liked but didn't was going into the schoolhouse. You could ask to skip this - I felt bad interrupting the childrens' class. Then we stopped at the curio marked to shop. The thing that disappointed me is that we didn't actually see anyone making any of the crafts. I would ask the local guide about that. I trust that the crafts are made there but hard not to question a bit when you see the same curios in all shops, airport, etc. Our guide on the second day was Chwela, and he was also wonderful, as was our armed guard who knew a lot about the wildlife and area. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this company! Add a boat safari from another company, and you have a perfect trip to the VF area! Also note - for us, it was easier to see the falls on our own - there was no need for a guide for that - but other (older adults) may prefer a guide, to ensure they are comfortable.

Our guide, Martin, was so knowledgeable about the birds and took us to a few places to find as many types of birds as possible. He was fun to talk with and gave us lots of great information about the birds and Zambia.

I had searched the internet for weeks looking for a morning birding safari on the Zambia side for our last morning of our 4 day Victoria Falls visit. We were also needing to get to the LVI airport that afternoon for our flight to JoBurg. When I emailed Savannah Southern our needs, they quickly responded, offering my wife and I a 6 hr birding safari and delivery to the airport at the end of the safari for a very reasonable price. We were met promptly at the Zambian border at 6:00 am by Chiinga, our birding guide and within minutes we were hunting birds. It turns out the Chiinga is the birding Guru for Victoria Falls and surrounding areas. He helped us find most of our target birds and some we weren’t even aware of in the area.
We are so happy that we discovered Savannah Southern. Give them a chance to meet your safari and transportation needs in Vic. Falls!
