- dougwI1958GA0 contributionsHoi An old town tourThe tour around the old city was great. The tour guide Ms Chang was very knowledgeable about the city and she spoke good English. She took particular care to make sure we were happy on the tour, it was very crowded. The lanterns were very colourful, the boat ride was good. We enjoyed the market and food.Written July 7, 2024

- GlobeTrotting6288080 contributionsAmazing Scenery & HistoryOur guide Ken was very knowledgeable on the history of Hoi An and the overall history of Vietnam. I can tell that he is very passionate about what he does because there was no question in regard to history that he couldn't answer. The highlight of the tour of course was the boat ride which was a nice sail along the river. Definitely recommend if you're in the local area.Written May 28, 2024

- Diageo0 contributionsNight Visit to Hoi AnWe enjoyed our visit to Hoi An with our guide Mr Tony. Ancient town was lovely and highlight were the night lanterns and the boat ride. Thanks Mr Tony for being so accommodating and considerate. Highly recommended.Written May 5, 2024
- James W0 contributionsAn enjoyable visit to Hoi-AnWe really enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide, Ms Chang, was very friendly and gave us an interesting, informative guide about the area and its history. Hoi An itself is a must-see when staying in Central Vietnam. It's very busy, but don't let that put you off. It's stunning, especially at night when the area lights up with all the lanterns. As well as seeing the sights and taking a boat ride on the river, there was plenty of time to visit the night market, have a sit-down meal in a local restaurant or as we did, sample the many different food choices from the local street-food vendors.Written May 2, 2024
- SueJim1260 contributionsExcellent company to organise your toursAndy at My Son Tours organised an afternoon / early evening walking tour of Hoi An and a visit to the Silk Village for us. We found Andy very easy to deal with and responsive to our needs. Hoi An is beautiful, but the day we visited was very crowded with larger group tours, spoiling it slightly. The Silk Village is well worth a visit, but you don't need a tour guide. It's a short taxi journey out of Hoi An, and as part of your entry fee, you get taken around by a guide from the village. It's not a village but a well-designed, modern, purpose-built facility to show how silk is made, from the silkworms to the finished product, and a shop where you can buy handmade silk clothes at very reasonable prices.Written April 26, 2024
- Go683068084240 contributionsGreat Hoi An Private TourThis is definitely the best way to see Hoi An. Our guide, Ms Vy, was friendly, helpful and informative. She showed us around the old town, with access to all key interest points included in the tour, and insightful commentary provided along the way. Being a private tour, we had some flexibility and easy access to activities like the river boat ride which Ms Vy timed to perfection. The pick and drop off from Da Nang was seamless and the car was modern and clean. A thoroughly enjoyable evening in Hoi An, I would definitely recommend this tour.Written April 18, 2024

- 836mandyk0 contributionsHoi An walking tour and boat rideWe really enjoyed our tour of Hoi An to give us more insight into the history of the city. It is incredibly beautiful to see the lanterns at night and visit some of the old houses and appreciate the architecture and decor. The tour guide, Joe, was knowledgeable and friendly. If you go to the night market negotiate and ask advise of the best stalls from your guide.Written April 1, 2024
- MITGOLD0 contributionsBeautiful Buzzing Hoi AnWe had a wonderful tour with Mr Kong last night. Hoi An is such a beautiful place with lots of shops, cafes and bars. The history of the ancient city is very fascinating and we enjoyed Mr Kong’s stories. Having a guide really enhanced our experience as we didn’t have to worry about what boat to go on, what place to eat - everything was done for us which made the tour so memorable. We would highly recommend this tour and look forward to visiting again in the future.Written March 28, 2024
- KBevPhoto0 contributionsGood enough tour to avoid the hassle of wandering alone in Hoi An, but you could if you wanted to...We booked this private tour because we heard the night Market and Lanterns were "must see" in Hoi An. Overall, I think it was a bit expensive for what it actually was, but for $150, we had a good visit to Hoi An. On the plus side, the older gentleman that was our guide had a fascinating life story and shared a bit of it during the drive, which was really cool to hear. His time during the wars and his family were great to hear about and give us more context to what it was like here. On the down side, the restaurant we wanted closed early and we left hungry without dinner bc he didn't have a good alternative. (we did get a Bahn mi earlier in the stop, but planned to hit a 2nd one that we heard about). We stopped at a silk weaving place (where they are set up to show/ sell stuff, like a lot of places). We also visit an old house that has been in Hoi An for generations. After that we walked the market and visited some shops before finding a boat for a little "cruise" on the water as people put lanterns in the water. Hoi A was VERY crowded with a lot of tourists and large tour groups. Unlike other parts of Vietnam (and even in Da Nang), these were more "circus-like" group of toursits that were a bit more annoying to work around. So just be prepared for that. At night, the river front was PACKED with people and the number of boats on the water was laughable. It is still worth doing, but just expect it to be a TON of tourists. The biggest value for us on this tour was: 1. The stories from the guide 2. Navigating the craziness of Hoi An 3. Finding the food spot we wanted 4. Having 2-3 stops in mind for out visit 5. Having someone pay/ haggle with the boat for the ride 6. Private round trip transportation If you are on a tight budget, you could certainly take a Grab to Hoi An and wander by yourself for the afternoon/ evening. It was VERY touristy and you'd have no trouble wandering... you can probably find a good "must see" list in a book somewhere. Bottom Line - worth doing, but pricey for what it turned out to be... I couldn't see doing this with a big group. Hoi An is too busy...Written March 21, 2024
