Hoi An Ancient town is actually a must visit place in Vietnam so if you are planning a trip do make sure your itinerary has Danang in it so that you can take at least a evening trip to Hoi An Ancient Town.

We started from our hotel at 330pm and reached Hoi An in about 50 mins by car. We left the place at 9pm so spent around 4.5 hours in the town.

Cab dropped us near the walking street of Hoi An so that we could spend the rest of the evening there on foot.

You should reach there before the sunset so that you can experience the town both in sunlight and without.

We took the boat ride before the sunset but I think it would be better to go for it when it is dark and they have switched on the lanterns in the town. Take small rowing boats instead of the big ones and do bargain for price. You can easily get 100k Dong for 4 people for a 20-30 min ride.

It is difficult to explain the experience in words so better you go and experience yourself first hand 🙂

The Ancient city in Hoi An is so beautiful and very crowded at the sane time, even though well worths a visit. The river, the boats with the colorfull lamps, and all the beautiful lamps around the city make a very especial this place at the sunset. I recommend you to get lost by their beautiful streets and alleys to scape from the very touristic areas.

This is a stunning old town to walk around and explore. Blown away by all beautiful buildings but as well by the stunning attention to detail that the building keepers have made with the flowers & lanterns. It’s a great place to explore during the day (but it’s hot!) and stunning at night when the boats with lanterns cruise the canal. A must do in Vietnam. Just beware, it was SUPER busy in July and a lot of big tour groups there.

If you want to visit the many different sites inside the area including pagodas and temples...you can purchase a ticket that will allow you into different ones. There's also lots of shopping, an old port, markets, food, etc. Fun to hang out and people watch.

This is my third time to Hoi An and I never tire of it. The atmosphere, the friendly people, most speak English. There is just so much to do here, from going to the Central Markets in the morning, to walking along the riverside and stopping in one of the many Western and Vietnamese restaurants for a bite to eat and a cold drink. So many temple and ancient houses to go into to feel the history of the place. The riverside markets at night. A trip on a lantern boat on a balmy summers evening. It's all here in one place. We have done lantern making classes and making calligraphy classes with Hoi An Handicraft Tours. The boys were so helpful we have gone back to do more lantern making with them. The beach is only 4.5kms from the main centre of town and Da Nang is a quick half an hour drive north. You have the best of everything right at your finger tips. We are now starting here for 3 months, not just because of Covid-19 but because we have fallen in love with the place. We still have so much to explore, including My Son temples and ruins, about an hour's drive West of Hoi An. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for anyone wanting a cultural experience of Vietnam.

Hoi An's old quarter is a festival of lanterns, making it extremely picturesque. Its quaint, car-free streets are a treat. You'll find a plethora of eateries. Choose one on the waterfront for a nice view. The town comes alive in the evening with the most colorful night market you've ever seen. Enjoy!

Peaceful, quiet, colorful. Everything is perfect for a kid who likes to travel alone. Going this season looks a bit sad, the shop is empty, some are closed, the lights are not turned on, so it's only 50% normal. Hope everything will be better in the future.

Hoi Ann is a tourist delight. During the day you can wander around the ancient town visiting temples, ancient town houses or pop into one of the many tailors and have a new suit or dress made in 24 hours. At night the town changes to bubbling night life with coloured lanterns everywhere, river cruises, or just enjoy great food or drink at the many restaurants and bars along the river. There’s a night market selling everything you need as a tourist and some shops selling great local artwork. Local open shuttles to get you around and the town has walking only areas, so safe to walk in the daytime or at night. This was our favourite town in Vietnam.

Worth visiting! There are variety of incredible things here, people are very welcoming , conscientious and friendly. Many adorable souvenirs with cheap price, I bought a little barn made of coconut trees just cost for 10.000 VND! However it’s a little bit chaotic because of crowd, please keep your valuables things carefully. Must try the lemongrass tea at the end of the town!!!!!
Have a nice trip ❤️

Definiately worth visiting on any tour of Vietnam.
The town has plenty of character and although it does feel very touristy, it is an ancient town and the famous Japanese bridge is surely unique.
The place comes to life at night and is illuminated by hundreds of lanterns. A tripto the night market there is also worth doing.
