Absolutely brilliant - would recommend in a heart beat!
This trip was absolutely fantastic, very well planned/cooridinated and we loved the itenary the tour company put together. They were kind and answered any questions we had very quickly. The city is absolutely beautiful, and they made sure we see all the big attractions within one day. The cost covers all transport and museums, and they took care of everything for us (purchasing all tickets, lunch, and even walking us to our seat on the train) which took the pressure off us really nicely. Our tour guide, Sevinch, was amazing and gave us deep insights and extensive history on all the landmarks we visited. She also made special arrangements for us during the trip which we really appreciated. They also allow you to order the lunch you wish to try which was really nice. I would say to anyone booking be prepared to walk and listen a lot and take plenty of water (they do provide some in the taxi when you arrive) as theres a lot to see in Samarkand in one day and its jam packed itenary! We’d also recommend getting a SIM card for your phone as its very difficult to find WiFi around, so purchase this at the airport or at a phone shop. Would highly recommend to anyone, this was the highlight of our holiday!

    An Unforgettable Trip to Samarqand
Sept. 17 2023 - Day Trip to Samarkand The tour agent answers queries quickly. The booking was done smoothly. Ali came to pick us up in the hotel on time, and he was a good conversationalist while we were en route to the railway station. He made sure that we were seated and comfortable before he left us on the train. Our seats were VIP, and that was unexpected, actually. At Samarqand, we met Sivench. She was our tour guide for the day. She was super friendly and very knowledgeable. She was very detailed in explaining the stories behind the place. I really liked the vibe of Samarqand and with all the history behind each structure that we visited. It was a really long walk but all places were just around the same area, apart from the fact that the same day we visited, there was a marathon so the roads were also blocked. The lunch was also delicous, we tried their kababs, soups, breads, etc. We were full and felt re-charged after that sumptous meal. We almost cover the full itinerary of this tour, but we fail to visit the bazaar. I guess since our train was scheduled to depart early hence our tour was cut short. The only letdown was going back to Tashkent. The train ride booked for us was just for one stop (Jizaxx), which was 46 mins duration from Samarqand. Then, from Jizaxx, we traveled to Tashkent by car for another 3 hours or so, which was really uncomfortable because of the roads and the fast driving. But since the train was booked by the government for the marathon, then we do not have a choice. Islam, who met us at Tashkent before the driver dropped us in our hotel, was really apologetic with the issue of coming back to Tashkent. He actually offered for arrangements of airport drop-off for free as compensation, but we refused since we were already tied up with another tour agent for those arrangements. But we truly appreciate the gesture. Nevertheless, we enjoyed this day's tour, and we recommend GOTOUZBEKISTAN 100%. 😊🇺🇿👍

    Insightful, enjoyable and stress-free!
This is a great option if you want to experience Samarkand’s highlights, but are short on time. Everything was extremely well organised, and the whole tour ran like clockwork. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgable, and looked after us really well. This was the second tour I’d taken with GOTOUZBEKISTAN, and I’d highly recommend them!

A great way to learn about the Aral Sea tragedy
If you’re short on time, this is a great opportunity to see and learn about the tragic demise of the Aral Sea. I was picked up from my hotel and taken to the airport, where I boarded a flight to Nukus. On arrival there, my guide and driver were waiting for me (with a sign with my name on it), and we began our adventure. After a visit to the art museum, we headed out to the town of Moynaq. Note that this is a 3-hour drive, and the roads aren’t brilliant (although our driver did an amazing job avoiding all the potholes!). On arrival in Moynaq, we had a delicious lunch at a local home, before visiting the ‘ship cemetery’. There’s also a small museum to visit which shows a very informative film (although it was unavailable on the day though due to a power cut). It was then 3 hours back to Nukus, with a stop at the Necropolis on the way. The tour was extremely enjoyable and well-organised, with a very friendly guide and driver. NB - it’s worth noting that this is a LONG day, partly due to the fact that you are dependent on the scheduled flight times. I was picked up at 06:00 (for a 07:15 flight) and did not get back to my hotel until shortly after midnight. The tour itself concludes in Nukus early evening, but as you’ll likely have 3-4 hours before your flight leaves, be sure to ask your guide for a recommendation for somewhere to eat it Nukus that’s close to the airport - they’ll happily drop you off there!

    Excellent tour
I went on a one day tour from Tashkent to Samarkand and this company was excellent. Pre communicated and booked through WhatsApp, collected from my hotel on time, business class high speed train tickets and an excellent guide. Samarkand was mind blowing, enjoyed every moment - including a fantastic lunch. Highly recommend all round.

    Easy pickup from Tashkent Airport
Ali was our pickup driver. He is a great guy, very trustworthy and he was on time waiting for us. Easy communication and he also has loads of luggage which he helped us with. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed but Ali was very responsive and understanding.

    Safe Experience
Very patient & respectful guide. We visited the following places: • Fine Arts Museum • Necropolis • Aral Sea Monument Note: This 1-day tour goes until the Aral Sea Monument - not the Aral Sea itself. Visiting the Aral Sea would take another day. Delicious lunch was provided at a guesthouse. I appreciate their ability to accommodate my request of having chicken, as they mainly serve beef or vegetarian meals. This was my first time in Central Asia. I felt safe all the while!

    Reliable and friendly service
Booked this airport pick up service. They were in contact a couple of days before for my flight details. I was arriving into the domestic airport which was no problem. The plane had landed and I was called by the driver to let us know he was there. Waited a long time for the luggage to arrive, the driver came in and assisted us. Drove us to the hotel without any problem in a new car. I messaged him again to book directly for pick ups back to the airport as we were leaving at different times in the middle of the night / early morning. We were assisted all the way to check in, a very friendly and helpful service that is reliable.

    An awesome day!
An awesome trip to see much of Samarkand in one day. The team collected me from my hotel, got me on the train into my seat. I was collected in Samarkand and taken around for the day. Very knowledgeable and friendly guides! Ali was my guide in Tashkent who arranged the transfers and Sevinch took me around Samarkand. I’d recommend to anyone short on time who wants to see Samarkand!

Great tour guide. Poor communication from organizer - almost missed the train because of it
My tour guide at Samarkand has rich knowledge. He explained many historical details so smoothly it feels like he was talking about his own life. Definitely one of the best guides I have seen so far. The organizer on the other hand couldn't communicate at all. He consistently didn't answer my message in a timely manner through out the whole process. I was considering canceling the tour from the poor communication but I had no plan for the day so I went ahead with the booking. The day before the tour, I had to repeatedly ask for the pick-up time. Finally, he told me to be "ready in the lobby at 7.20". What happened is he didn't show up until 8:05 and he then rushed me to come down to the lobby (I went back to my room because of the long wait). No words of apology from him for the delay. The driver who went with him had to drive super fast to catch the train at 8:24 it felt unsafe to be in the car. Once we get to the train station it's almost 8:20 and we had to run pass a crowd of people. I got inside the train at 8:23 and 1 minute later the train departed. Needless to say I wasn't happy with the whole experience. If the organizer of this tour didn't response to you in a timely manner, you should consider booking your own ticket to Samarkand (about $10/person one way) and hire a local tour guide there (there are plenty of them standing at the Samarkand train station). It will certainly save you some money and headache.

    Once in a lifetime experience
My favorite part was arriving at what was once a bustling fishing industry village but is now a desert. Seeing the skeletons of the fishing boats that scoured the aral sea for fish. I was well looked after by the company who arranged the flight and guide. Ahmed and our driver looked after me pretty well. Ahmed was full of information and I am grateful for them for providing me with a wonderful experience. It is something I will never forget

I came to Uzbekistan without much planning. But to my surprise, the tour team crafted a beautiful itinerary for one day in Samarkand. As a solo traveller, I was so happy to be accompanied by such happier & beautiful people starting from the tour guide, my taxi driver, the tour manager. This part of the world has surprised me in my first visit. The tour guide showed us around with enthusiasm & ease without rushing. We exchanged our journeys over a local lunch set-up that has been the highlight of this tour.
This is a personal record coming from a solo traveller.
Insightful! Happy! Delightful!
