This was a wonderful experience well worth doing. Depending on the weather what colour the calcium pools are but well worth dipping your feet in. Make sure you walk all the way around the board walk to the other side it's gorgeous

Pamukkale is great but the drive is long and stops are curated for foreign tourists to be ripped off
Pamukkale and the vicinity were beautiful and we are glad that we visited. The bus was full but comfortable, staff were English speaking and helpful. The drive was fairly long though which is not their fault but just highlighting it for those who are travelling from Izmir as we did. One thing that kind of ruined it for us is that the bus stopped particular stops that is clearly curated for foreign tourists that had outrageously high prices for soft drinks, water etc. A can of coke was 65 liras and having travelled the world extensively, I never paid that kind of money for a can coke which mind you, one can get for 9 liras from the shops in Turkey or up to 30 liras in a restaurant.

It's worth the drive form Izmir
My friend and were staying in Izmir so we took a field trip to Pamukkale and Hierapolis with Neon tours. We were picked up at 6:45 sharp in a top notch van who took us to a meeting point where we met our cool guide Josh and the rest of the company. The trip was long about three hours and that's the only thing I would change if I could. The trip was comfortable with coffee breaks, once we got there Josh showed us around, gave us enough information to start exploring the beautiful site of Hierapolis and helped us book a buggy with an English speaking driver and a phenomenal photograph who took us around and took some great shots. I could complain that 3 hours at Pamukkale and Hierapolis aren't enough but if I stayed there three days I would have had the same feeling. My field trip was enough to see the site and to admire it but next time definitely I will stay longer because you can go paragliding ( Josh offered to arrange for us), take a swim in Cleopatra's pool or just go relaxing in your bathing suit at one of Pamukkale's pools. After the site Josh took us to buffer lunch which was very good and to jewelry work shop to see how magic happens. I would definitely recommend the trip with just one favor to extend it a little bit. Shout out to Josh who was amazing, blow us away when he organized for us a solo visit to an amazing ceramic shop ( Firca (quartz & ceramic )

          Worth the ride.
Ever since we were picked up at the meeting point, our experience was really great. as soon as we met our guide, he started pouring information, and had the time and dedication to explain everything. you could tell he was well informed, and had years of experience, never hesitated when asked about historical facts and always was well versed and explained as best as possible. although its a 3 hour ride from Izmir, Its worth the wait and the travel, once you get there the place is magnificent.

          Very good
Fine tour with a experience tour guide name İsmail. Very well transport and comfortable. Very beautiful place to visit, just a little bit far from Izmir ( 4 hours drive), but it worse it, because the place is very beautiful. Absolutely recommended to visit Pamukkale for those who loves historical places.

We started our tour with pick up from hotel in Izmir and it took 3 hour to get to destination... spent 2 hours around Pamukkale and Ruins of Hierapolis.. was not enough tine to explore .. so we rushed to see the theater and take pictures of dried Travastine... only one part of the water area was open... did not enjoy the trip... 6 hours on road and 2 hours at site

One of my favorite places on earth
It's hard to beat the incredible combination of natural beauty, ancient architecture, and spiritual heritage found at Pamukkale (ancient Hierapolis). Go! Just go!

Just as good or even better than Ephesus
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this amazing place. Nearly didn't go because of some negative reviews about guided tours. So a friend encouraged me to go myself on the train. I'm forever grateful that I did because the experience is truly unique. (On the plus side was able to wander about this amazing place without the restrictions of a guided tour). Getting here is easy from Izmir. Get the early train from Basmane station to the end of the line Denizli (28 TL) ( This train also stops at Selcuk for Ephesus). I arrived around 12:30. Checked into my hotel a few minutes walk from the train station and next to the bus station where I caught a mini bus (4TL) To Pemukkale (just a walk up the road to the entrance). This is where the adventure begins ( you have to take your shoes off to walk on the terraces so make sure you have something like a small back pack to carry them). I arrived about 2 in the afternoon and was able spend 4 hours exploring both Pemukkale and Heiropolis. An experience I will never forget. A guided tour isn't required just read about Pemukkale on Wikipedia for the information. The next morning I spent an hour so at the Laodocia site (again I caught a minibus from the station and it's a walk up the hill to the site). Then I returned back to Izmir on the midday train.

          Sadly very poorly kept.
I am from Turkey and always wanted to visit this place, I guess I was pretty late to see the pools with natural water. We were told that sections were close in 1996, there was a small section they did kept open for you to get inside the pool ( we were told water was not natural anymore), too crowded, pretty dirty.First you can drive up there with a car and park your car for 10 tl whole day and start from the top, or walk up from the bottom (which we didn't do) Entrance was pretty expensive for locals 50 tl, and it doesn't include the other pool are inside. It was another 50tl to get in the Antique Pools(which we did not). As usual prices around the pools up there were super expensive, for example Magnum ice cream in Izmir or anywhere else in cities cost 5.5tl up there it was 18tl. This is same for simple water, cola, food etc. But yu can bring your own food and drink in your backpack. I personally was disappointed with the place, but must see once in a life time. And you really don't have to stay in town more then two days tops, since town really has not growing at all. Boring little town.

          Enjoyable Day Trip from Izmir
Our driver arrived 15 min ahead of schedule and waited patiently in the lobby as we were still having our breakfast. It turned out that we were the only guests in the group tour ;)... After about 45min of drive, our excellent guide, Mesut, joined us from a small town called Aydın. Mesut was an experienced and knowledgeable guide who shared lots of history and stories behind the sights that we saw. He also exceeded expectation by sharing interesting facts about the many towns that we passed by. I would certainly recommend Neon Tours and Mesut for this tour.

          Expectations vs reality
It was Sunday and that was the first mistake we did when we planned to go to pamukkale😏. We were deceived by the spectacular photos but in reality the water is very much controlled. Only a small portion is supplied by the water rest is dry. The sun was burning and the vision was blurred with the whiteness of the Cotton Castle. As we were less informed and the tour guide was selfish enough to keep an umbrella only for himself we were literally burned. Coleoptera pool was so crowded that I hardly could see water. Anyway maybe this is an amazing place to visit but my and my children’s opinion is 3 star.

          Ephesus Private Day Trip
Excellent organized day tour ! From the moment we booked, they contacted us and picked us up from our hotel the day desired. We had a very good time with our guide Ismail. Lunch included also visits to Saint Johns Basilica and the House of the Virgin Mary. Do not miss visiting. We highly recommend it. Also do pay the extra fee entrance to the houses with the frescos and mosaics, that are preserved under a roof in the Ephesus area.

Day tour to Pamukkale and Hierapolis from Izmir
Neon tours were great. Excellent service and very polite. We even forgot the Ipad in the bus at the end of the day and the driver came back for us after a long day of driving. The tour guide was knowledgeable and professional. The place is great and worth visiting. Just remember the drive is long (almost three hours each way with short stops but nothing to see during the stops) and the visit itself is about two hours but amazing place to see. The kids will be bored during the drive (both ways) so make sure they have something to keep them busy.

Day Tour to Ephesus, Mary's House and St John Basilica
An amazing day. The ruins at Ephesus are second to none and we have seen Rome, Vesuvius and other great sites. The visit to Mary's House was a wonderful and spiritual visit and we finished at St John's Basilica. To tread in the footsteps of Mary and John, the Apostle, was an experience. Our guide, Top, was amazing and he shared his great knowledge with us. The perfect host and guide. The lunch was outstanding and included delicious Turkish dishes. Thanks also to our friendly driver Mr Shaban. I could not recommend Neon Day Tours highly enough and Top, our guide was terrific.

For the price, including transportation to/from Izmir, this was a value! The tour was as described in terms of sites, but the sites were more than I had expected. Additionally, our guide, Erman, was very factual & comprehensive in his knowledge of the sites and area history. As is standard for tours, we were taken to some shops - in this case, rug weaving & ceramic establishments. Both were very interesting & educational, and help you differentiate between the “real thing” and the items sold in tourist shops. So keep in mind however, to haggle! Dicker! Bargain!

What an amazing place! The ruins are very well preserved in places. The guide was extremely knowledgable. The excursion was very well planned and several stops were made through the day to local shops and vendors. We learned a lot about the ancient civilizations but also about the local economy and skills of local rug makers and pottery artists. Lunch was included and delicious. I’d recommend Neon Tours to anyone who wanted a first class tour.

I must congratulate Neon Tours Izmir. Eventhough there were only 2 of us this tour, we still proceeded. We got the whole van just for the 2 us ! The tour was very special and entertaining. We visited Mother Marys house and the ruins of Ephesus. Both places are evocative. Ephesus is supposed to be the most well preserved Roman City. Its like you were sent back in time. I appreciated our tour guide who was very knowledgeable and our driver too.

In general, it was a great tour and I recommend it if you're interested in history and civilizations. The trip was well organized, the driver was on time for the pick up, and the vehicle was very good. Ephesus is fascinating indeed and the tour guide (Erman) was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Lunch was ok and the tour included 2 stops at a carpet weaving and pottery making places where it felt a bit uncomfortable because you're expected to buy some of the items they're selling.
All in all, it was a very good experience and worth the money.

This is by far most preserved and biggest place to visit of the seven churches of the Revelation. Even if your are not looking for Christian places, it is also part of the Roman Empire historical ruins. That is why there are so many tourist at Ephesus. There are two entrances. There are some constructions and just careful not to go there.

A visit to the ruins of Ephesus is like a visit to ancient Rome. It was a vast, elaborate, and wealthy city, with every luxury that a Roman citizen could want. The basic tour includes most of the central area of the city, Temples, baths, shops, and amphitheaters abound. You'll be spending a couple of hours learning what life was like in a major Roman outpost, enjoying the architecture and the lifestyle of the citizens. The House of the Virgin Mary is a must for dedicated Christians, though its history is a bit murky.

This tour was perfect for me, I was in Izmir and I only had one day to see something touristic around the city. The tour takes you to Different ruins including Virgin Mary’s house and Ephesus ruins, the tour guide was very knowledgeable of the place because he was a local and speaks very good english. Food was also very good, you learn the Turkish carpets creation process not as interested as the ruins for everyone but important for the community around the ruins.

The ruins of Ephesus is so huge, you walk through it taking you about an hour, from one side till the other end. Very interesting indeed and here you will find the original sign of Nike. Also St. Mary's House was a holy place and interesting for each Christian to visit. I was amazed how Muslims still come here to worship.
We saw soldiers with machine guns guarding the place.

It was a long day, but one of the best trips my partner and I'd made in recent times. The day began with us being picked up from our stay in Izmir--we then picked up our guide for the day and traveled to the see the sites. Our guide was informative and quite knowledgeable and he gave us relevant details on the way. Our first stop was St. Mary's House (where it's believed St. Mary spent some time of her life after Jesus' death). The surroundings of the location was tranquil and magnificent, and the house had a nice atmosphere. We then traveled to Ephesus---which was truly a grand experience. The Greeks and later the Romans knew a thing or two about building cities, baths and water and sanitation way ahead of their times---and examples of that was all around. We spent about 2-3 hours there, and didn't visit the terrace houses (needed separate fees)---but we could easily have spent another hour or two in the ruins. We then moved to the Artemis temple and finally saw the ruins of St. John's Church and his purported burial site.

There was a lunch in between---which was surprisingly good (in our experience) for a 'lunch inclusive' day trip.

We were lucky that we went in April, although, the day was a Saturday after a Turkish holiday and so there were some crowds. But not, as the guide told us, overwhelming masses of visitors as is wont during the peak summer tourist season.

Important: to carry water, sun-shades/sunglasses, hat/cap and sunscreen (for those who need it). Sturdy shoes with good grip are essential--the marble path through Ephesus are worn quite smooth and one tends to slip easily. A weather check---to ensure no rain, would be good to do as well. And of course, all the sites are visited on foot--so a bit of walking (and resting) will happen. A few snacks too would help, if you are a family with hungry kids---and do bring your cameras/GoPros/selfie-sticks and smart phones... Also, for those who are interested in ruins/history, please check if your entrance fees cover the terrace-houses entrance, if not, may be good to get those tickets before you go. We didn't, so will have to go back!

Overall, it was a grand day among ruins and wonders of the ancient world.
