Before the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, Turkey was a key player in World War I. On this tour, you’ll revisit one of the conflict’s most formidable campaigns. After pickup from your Canakkale hotel, board a ferry for a scenic ride across the narrowest section of the Dardanelles, once the site of an epic bombardment by French and British forces. After an included restaurant lunch, board an air-conditioned minivan to visit the Brighton Beach, a WWI landing place, where you’re welcome to take a dip in the water. Hear multiple perspectives on the legendary battle as you tour Turkish trenches and learn about heavy losses on both sides. You’ll also visit Beach Cemetery, which once sheltered 30,000 troops, and Lone Pine Australian Memorial, where Turkish strongholds were overpowered by Australians. After an in-depth guided tour of key battle locations, you'll be comfortably dropped back at your hotel.

Every team member throughout this experience made it “hassle-free”, welcoming and informative. Ezgi the manager at Hassle Free Travel who organised our tour was bubbly and informative. She provided her contact and emphasized if we had “any questions at all” even unrelated to the tour she would be happy to answer. She also gave us great recommendations for food/restaurants and ATM advice. The tour began with a delicious and filling lunch at Maydos restaurant which is managed by Özgür who was attentive and friendly. Our tour guide Gizem went above and beyond to make our tour as personable and enjoyable as possible. At each site Gizem would give us an abundance of history then patiently answered every question we had, followed by as much time as we liked to explore the site. We were transported in a comfortable van and never felt rushed.
The tour included all transport and entrance fees to the sites/museum and a 3-course lunch. A great price for the whole experience and wonderful service from the whole team.

This was a fantastic tour provided by a very experienced company (Hassle Free Travel). The agency owner (Ezgi) went out of her way to assist with additional arrangements to that of the tour. The guide provided was similarly very experienced with a deep and passionate knowledge of the Canakkale battles (Anzac / Gallipoli). The tour focused on both the Australian and Turkish perspectives and portrayed great respect to both countries. Due to small numbers of Australians travelling in August 2022, we were the only two people on this small group tour. The company did not hesitate in providing the tour with the guide resulting in a private tour for us. Cannot thank them enough for this. The guide (Ercan) was a highly educated and respected historian quite often engaged by Archeological experts to assist with works at Troja and Anzac / Gallipoli.
Booking online with Hassle Free can require filling in a pdf form and sending. You can easily online book with trip advisor or simply ring Hassle Free and they will register you over the phone.
If you find a cheaper tour -forget it- You will not be disappointed by going with “the best”.
Thanks to Ezgi and Ercan

As kiwis we don’t often hear about the Turkish perspective of the battle of Gallipoli. Apo, our guide, is an absolute wealth of knowledge. He managed to create a perfect balance between both Turkish and ANZAC perspective. You can tell Apo is passionate about the Gallipoli battles, and has a genuine interesting in educating others about it.

We valued being able to visit sites of importance that we learn about through school in New Zealand. The main thing I have taken away from this experience, is how important it is to understand both perspectives. There was a huge loss of lives from both sides in this battle and it shaped history for all nations involved. As a teacher, this is something I am going to incorporate into my Gallipoli history lessons.

The lunch included was incredible too! Lovely Turkish food, big portions.

This is not a tour that should be missed. My partner and I learnt so much about what took place on and around the Gallipoli Peninsula during WWI from this jam-packed day tour . Our guide, Gizem, was incredibly knowledgeable about the events surrounding the campaign and was more than happy to answer any questions we had. Visiting the very destinations where these events took place felt truly remarkable, but the experience would not have come close without having our guide there helping us understand the history at a much deeper level. We highly recommend this tour!

We had the most outstanding tour of Gallipoli yesterday. Visiting in the middle of winter was an ideal choice as we lucked the most beautiful, warm, sunny winter day and we were the only people at most of the sites on the tour. Abdurrahim was the most fantastic and knowledgeable guide, with a genuine interest and passion in the history of Gallipoli. He told us he believes that every headstone has a story and spends his spare time researching these. His English is impeccable, and he even knows kiwi and Aussie idioms. This tour has a specific focus on the Anzac history at Gallipoli and all the key historical sites, but also covers the Turkish point of view and you visit one Turkish memorial site. Oh and the tour begins with lunch at Maydos which is delicious and provided by the tour! Cannot more highly recommend this tour especially for any Kiwi or Aussie visiting Gallipoli.

As an Aussie, I have always been wanted to come to Gallipoli. I was very cautious because I am not the biggest fan of tours and wanted to avoid the mass tour groups I had heard about. My experience with Apo could not have been more opposite. I was in fact, the only person on the tour. I had an incredible day. All of the reviews are accurate - he is a very respectful and insightful man. I had a lot of time to reflect and he was full of information, answering all of my questions succinctly. To say that my experience was incredible would be an understatement, having all of the sites to myself is something that I will never be able to describe. Visiting Gallipoli was always very special to me and only more so, after today. A very big thank you!

An incredible tour! Apo is extremely knowledgable and passionate about the subject. As an American it was fascinating to hear about the war from a Turkish perspective, all while maintaining a great balance between discussing the experiences of both sides during the conflict. Would highly recommend!

Excellent and comprehensive tour if you want to have an in-depth learning experience about one of the deadliest, yet fascinating military campaigns of WWI. Memorials, cemeteries, war museum, trenches, astounding views, and tons of historical remarks are all on the menu. Abdu, my tour guide, was phenomenal. He's knowledgable, passionate, friendly, and always willing to answer any and all questions. Absolutely recommended!
