- D8862IWcameronm0 contributionsAmazing experience visiting GallipoliWe have just finished our private 2-day tour from Istanbul with Hassle Free Travel to Gallipoli/Çanakkale and we absolutely LOVED every second of it. We were SO INCREDIBLY fortunate to have the services of a wonderful guide (Ercan Yavuz) who was just amazing! When we first booked this tour, we knew roughly what we wanted to do but Hassle Free also made recommendations to us, which we gladly went with. As an Aussie family of 4, it was important to us to visit not only the sites that are so well known back home but also to visit other locations and pay our respects to all of those who fought. Whilst we managed to get in a huge amount over the 2 days, it has left us wanting to come back and do more. The sites associated with the Gallipoli Campaign were just incredible and to get a first-hand glimpse at these locations was unforgettable. Adding on to that was the fact that we were able to visit Troy/Troia on the first afternoon, which we all just loved! Our guide Ercan was such an incredible part of our experience and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND requesting his services. His love and passion for what he does is obvious at every given moment - it is clear he wants visitors to have 'the experience' but he wants to ensure everyone leaves feeling completely satisfied. One of his first questions was whether we had any immediate connection to men who had served and whether we had a desire to find a particular resting place. When I mentioned that my great grandfather had come ashore on 25th April 1915 and which regiment he had served in, he knew and had immediate insight into things to see and places to go. As a History teacher myself, I feel like I have a good background about the locations of Gallipoli and what took place in each but his insights and specialised knowledge truly blew me away. He always wove tales of his experiences as a guide, working with different individuals, families, large groups and foreign dignitaries into what he shared with us at the many sites we visited. He would often share anecdotal stories from the time of the events in 1915, giving us a closer connection to the men serving at the front. Ercan was also incredibly warm and good with our teenage boys; he made sure to offer accounts of situations that could allow them to appreciate the horrors of the conflict for both sides whilst also helping them to more fully appreciate why the events mattered so much for all nations involved. He really did an amazing job and I would GLADLY go on another tour with him if I were even given the opportunity. Just as a little side note - the transportation from Istanbul was great...very easy and convenient in terms of pick up and drop off. Everything was very well organised in regards to food (lunch both days was delicious) ferry transportation across the Dardanelles was easy and enjoyable and our accommodation in Çanakkale was wonderful with a great dinner and breakfast (DoubleTree by Hilton). Thank you to Hassle Free and Ercan - we had such an amazing experience!Written November 2, 2023

Glad we had sun hats with us and plenty of sun screen. The air conditioning in the bus was much appreciated. Would definitely recommend this tour to others.Written September 21, 2023

- 942belindas0 contributionsGreat tour of TroyBooking our tour of Troy through Hassle free travel as the name suggests was straight forward. Our friendly guide met us as agreed at the port and took us by private vehicle to Troy which was around 30 minutes drive away. The guides knowledge of the site and explanations of it were excellent. We really enjoyed our visit.Written August 29, 2023
- 719karenaf0 contributionsAbsolutely wonderful experienceWe had the BEST experience with Aykut. We ended up having a private tour as the only guests for the day. Aykut was a fabulous story teller. We loved visiting the Troy museum the most. We learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed our day. It’s worth every penny and I recommend this tour a million times over!!Written August 14, 2023
- Phil-Joel0 contributionsA must do.The only negative feedback I have is lunch, as I would have preferred a more traditional Turkish meal. That aside the whole day was a great day out. The morning pick up was punctual, the 2 different vans were comfortable & the 2 guides (Burak for Troy & Gagn for Gallipoli) very personable & informative. I learned a lot about Troy from Burak & the passion from Gagn on Gallipoli was felt by all. Please keep up the good work.Written July 15, 2023

Ercan was super knowledgeable, very friendly and gave a good account of both sides in a structure led route. Transport was easy and comfortable and the lunch provided was a great start to the trip. It was a pretty hot day but the van was well air conditioned and had time between spots to cool down.Written June 26, 2023

This was a fantastic tour provided by a very experienced company (Hassle Free Travel). The agency owner (Ezgi) went out of her way to assist with additional arrangements to that of the tour. The guide provided was similarly very experienced with a deep and passionate knowledge of the Canakkale battles (Anzac / Gallipoli). The tour focused on both the Australian and Turkish perspectives and portrayed great respect to both countries. Due to small numbers of Australians travelling in August 2022, we were the only two people on this small group tour. The company did not hesitate in providing the tour with the guide resulting in a private tour for us. Cannot thank them enough for this. The guide (Ercan) was a highly educated and respected historian quite often engaged by Archeological experts to assist with works at Troja and Anzac / Gallipoli.
Booking online with Hassle Free can require filling in a pdf form and sending. You can easily online book with trip advisor or simply ring Hassle Free and they will register you over the phone.
If you find a cheaper tour -forget it- You will not be disappointed by going with “the best”.
Thanks to Ezgi and Ercan

As an Aussie, I have always been wanted to come to Gallipoli. I was very cautious because I am not the biggest fan of tours and wanted to avoid the mass tour groups I had heard about. My experience with Apo could not have been more opposite. I was in fact, the only person on the tour. I had an incredible day. All of the reviews are accurate - he is a very respectful and insightful man. I had a lot of time to reflect and he was full of information, answering all of my questions succinctly. To say that my experience was incredible would be an understatement, having all of the sites to myself is something that I will never be able to describe. Visiting Gallipoli was always very special to me and only more so, after today. A very big thank you!

From the beginning to the end everything was planned and executed impeccably well by the travel agency. They were responsive to our inquires, and timely so. The highlight of our experience was our tour guide Hasan. He is supremely knowledgeable about the geography, the history and the war itself, and clearly cares deeply about honoring the lives lost and preserving their stories. He has a great sense of humor, very tactful and thoughtful. Our driver was awesome as well. We recommend with no reservations.

This is not a tour that should be missed. My partner and I learnt so much about what took place on and around the Gallipoli Peninsula during WWI from this jam-packed day tour . Our guide, Gizem, was incredibly knowledgeable about the events surrounding the campaign and was more than happy to answer any questions we had. Visiting the very destinations where these events took place felt truly remarkable, but the experience would not have come close without having our guide there helping us understand the history at a much deeper level. We highly recommend this tour!

The office was very helpful with communication and checking in, they met us at the location and escorted us to our guide. Our guide was very knowledgeable. He was also timely. If you have a mature group or a group that has a good grasp of history he is excellent. Our students were a mix of English as a second language and English speakers and all in high school. It would be nice to have a few more stories about what happened (make it kid friendly). We also would have enjoyed a little more time to explore each site on our own. Our guide was very good and had a lot to share, our kids have short attention spans.
The actual tour was fantastic for location and food. The driver was very good and the bus was clean. All the battlefield stops and the snack spots were great.

An incredible tour! Apo is extremely knowledgable and passionate about the subject. As an American it was fascinating to hear about the war from a Turkish perspective, all while maintaining a great balance between discussing the experiences of both sides during the conflict. Would highly recommend!

We started with a welcome Turkish coffee at the tour office where we met our guide, Ercin. We then jumped on the nearby ferry across the Dardanelles, and were driven to a lovely restaurant for lunch. There were only four in our group including a friendly Kiwi couple. We then spent the whole afternoon visiting all the best sites and memorials around Anzac Cove Lone Pine, and Chanuk Bair, while our incredibly well informed guide explained the details of battles, from both sides, and gave us time to absorb the tragedy of war. We all found Ercin to be personable and approachable and his knowledge and memory immense. He absolutely made our day. Do this tour if you possibly can. It's great value and so interesting.

We had trouble with our hotel and they, not only helped us, but offered us an *amazing* tour around the memorials of Gallipoli. Hülya was really nice and attentive and Arjan was an outstanding guide. Everything was organized, timing was perfect, and we had lots of fun. One month already passed and I have the certainty I will never forget that day 😄.

Hi!! my wife & I are travelling from Australia to Greece for a holiday in late June 2020. We would love to look at booking this tour! the views read amazing! We would love to fly from Athens but wondering the best airport to fly into to get to get to this tour! Would love somebody to help us out here
look forward to hearing back! cheers

Hi! Çanakkale has an airport itself, though after checking out SkyScanner, Athens - Çanakkale one way is upwards of $200NZD. My partner and I flew into Istanbul and spent 3 nights checking out the city before busing for 6 hours down to Çanakkale. We used Pamukkale buses, we paid about 80TL each and that included drinks and snacks, and the ferry across the Dardanelles. You can book through the Obliet app, although it is in Turkish. You can use google translate, but it’s pretty straightforward without having to translate.
Another option would be flying into Izmir, I found a direct flight at the start of June for $115NZD. Again, you would need to bus to Çanakkale from there.
I hope you manage to make the trip. It really is an epic place and Apo made our tour incredible.

Thank you so much for an excellent day, the tour, the conversation, and your company as you tool me back through history from all sides of the story.
