These guys were absolutely horrible. I booked them through Viator, I sent them a direct email to confirm, which they did. Then I waited for my pickup info...nothing. I emailed them, they didn’t respond. I called them but got a recorded line. I called them the morning of, to confirm, and they wouldn’t pick up. I called their “emergency line” and the guy said to call the office. They responded to my last email that said the tour was canceled because of low attendance, 22 minutes before the start of the tour! I was furious! And of course, they couldn’t have cared less. I only had one day planned in the area, and even so, seeing Ephesus was a big part of my trip to Turkey. This tour company nearly destroyed that plan. Luckily my superb hotel (Ilayda Advantgarde) found me another tour, already in progress, so I zipped over and joined them mid-tour. I heard Neon Tours is a big company and they do this kind of thing all the time. Book with them at your peril.

          Amazing - The GREAT library
Great day out. The tour guide was excellent we enjoyed our walk around the place. So much history to absorb, and even a short tour of the highlights will take half a day.

          Must see
The place is spectacular, breathtaking and memorable, definitely deserve a second trip. I good tourist guide is a must, or at least take audio guiders provided for low cost at entrance. If you have a car it's better to go by your self rather than paying to travel agency, the ticket is 40YTL (Turkish lira) for adults and free for children up to 12 years. Make sure to have plenty of water as the walking is for hours.

          A step back in time!
A fantastic historical site to visit, especially on a guided tour, where the past is brought to life.It is rather uneven to walk in places but if you're careful,as I was, even though I have some mobility problems it can be managed.A point to remember is that it can get extremely hot, so if you can choose your holiday dates it's best to avoid the high summer! As you go round the guides can choose areas with walls etc where you can sit to listen to their informative talks, if you mention that you need a little assistance.

The extraordinary one day private tour
If you like to enjoy a tour of Ephesus, House of Mary and temple of Artemis as well as spending time in beautiful Kusadasi by the sea,ask for Zeynep w/ Kusadasi private Ephesus tours, She is a pleasant woman w/ vast knowledge of the ruins and history of Turkey. Both her & her partner speak fluent English and provide a comfortable transportation from and to Izmir. We truly enjoyed our guided tour and highly recommend it.

Great sightseeing tour spoilt by unwanted visit to Leather Store and Rug merchants
Firstly let me say that the sites visited - Ephesus, Mary's House and Basilica of St John were well worth visiting and the guide was very informative and knowledgeable. What I object to is being dragged to places that were not advertised as part of the tour. I could have tolerated one of these stops but not two. We were told that we would be visiting Mary's House and Ephesus followed by Basilica of St John, then a leather store and finally lunch before travelling home. This would have been ok, as I understand that tour companies can be "encouraged/coerced" to bring people here and guides maybe get a little commission if people purchase something. However, what really annoyed us was that when we thought we were making our final stop for lunch we were in fact being taken to a rug store (under the pretence of a government subsidised weaving school). We could not enjoy lunch knowing that we were going to have to listen to a time-share like sales presentation to encourage us into buying a rug. I would be confident this place was a scam as this guy was the type of slick, slimy operator that sell time-shares. Also I noticed in their "weaving school" that no-one was in the room when we arrived, but when we had finished lunch all of a sudden there were people working on the looms. Well when I say people, there were two ladies - must be a popular school! The salesmen said that these ladies make the rugs in their villages, hundreds or thousands of miles away. Why then are there so many carpets on display here? It is not likely that they bear the cost of shipping individual carpets from remote villages. As many of these rugs supposedly take a year or more to make, it is all the more remarkable. Oh, and amazingly this "government weaving school" has a jewellery store on the way out. What a coincidence and really adds to the authenticity! In any case the guide lost out on a great tip by making the second stop (we were the only 3 people on the tour and I was happy to compensate him well) . Also we were looking forward to an authentic Turkish lunch in a local restaurant (as advertised), not some "staged restaurant" on the grounds of a dubious weaving store, acting as a pre-cursor to relieving tourists of their money. This was advertised as an 8 hour tour but if you take away the time taken to visit unwanted stops, I would say it was more like 5. My advice is do your own research and visit by yourself. It may take more time to use public transport but at least you won't be subjected to unwanted stop-offs

Private Day Tour of Ephesus with Neon Tours
We booked through Viator for a private tour in Ephesus. There were 4 in our group, My husband, myself and my 2 kids ages 17 & 25. Our tour guide Ismail Keser was awesome. We had a private air conditioned van which was very comfortable. We had several stops of a Mosque and then the church of St. John before heading to Ancient Ephesus. We loved going through the ruins and our guide was very knowledgeable. Don't miss out on seeing the houses, it's and extra fee but pretty amazing. After the tour we went to Yuskel Carpet where we had a traditional Turkish lunch outside followed by how silk rugs were made. Then we were brought into a room where we were shown rugs. A earlier reviewer did mention the sales pitch which there was but we had come to Turkey to buy some rugs which we did and beautiful ones I must say. We stopped by a leather factory and did see the fashion show which they had beautiful coats and it was entertaining but I could of skipped that part. Our last stop was a ceramic store where we had a show on ceramic making and my daughter got to make a bowl for fun which she so enjoyed. All in all we had a great day. If you go with Neon Tours make sure you ask for Ismail Keser.

          Ephesus Tour, Booked through Viator.com
My wife and I booked this tour through Viator.com because we wanted to see the Biblical sites in Ephesus. The tour was to be about 8 hours in length. We started with the church of St John which also included his resting place. We then went to Ancient Ephesus to see the ruins and hear the history of this remarkable site. We were rushed through this part of the tour and I feel we missed much of it. A free lunch was to be included in this tour but did not include any drinks, including water for which we were charged. We were then taken to a place that makes hand woven rugs to see a demonstration. After the demonstration we were taken into a room where many of the rugs were displayed. Free drinks were offered and then the sales pitch began. After the 20 minute sales pitch the doors flung open and we were surrounded by no less than a dozen salesmen trying to sell us these overpriced, expensive rugs. I couldn't believe this was happening. Most of us escaped but one person did end up buying a rug. After this high pressure sales session we were taken to what many believe was the last home of the Virgin Mary. We spent about 45 minutes there. This was suppose to be our last stop and we all expected to be taken back to the port but our drivers had other ideas. We were told that we were now going to a "Fashion Show". Most of us protested this but to no avail. We were going to this fashion show weather we liked it or not. We arrived at a high end clothing store and escorted in to a small room with a runway. Several of our group protested and refused to go in. After some free drinks were offered the fashion show began and models began to show us a line of leather jackets. After about 20 minutes of this I noticed that the door we came through was now being blocked by the tour drivers as another door opened up to another room. Our group was now escorted in to this room and surrounded by salesman trying to sell expensive, overpriced leather jackets. One jacket was 1,800.00 Euros. The sales pitch continued for about another half hour before we were allowed to get on our buses to return to our ship. I never expected to be subjected to this kind of high pressure sales tactics while on a tour. Over two hours of this tour was nothing but high pressure sales presentations. Not exactly as advertised. My wife and I spent $180.00 to take this 8 hour tour of Ephesus. What started out as an exciting and interesting day turned out to be the tour from hell. If you book a tour here find out in advance if it includes what I have described here. If so, then do yourself a favor and skip it.

          I Love Ephesus
Ephesus is such a beautiful place to visit and a must see if you visit Kusadasi. We were the only 2 people on this tour. Gokce, our guide was amazing. She spoke perfect English and gave us excellent information on all the sights. The lunch that was provided was delicious.

Ephesus - A very well preserved ancient site
This is a must see site if you are visiting Turkey and specifically Izmir. We booked via a 3rd party and received Neon tour to visit this site. We are were in awe about how well excavated this site is and how well preserved the site is. You hear more about ancient Roman ruins in Italy but this is perhaps even better in terms of complete view of the ancient culture. The only and the most negative part of this tour was the tour guide - Zeynep Elitemiz. She was knowledgeable but very rude and mostly catered to tourist from the Cruise ship. We took the tour from the city (Izmir) and essentially for the most part were ignored as she was mostly interested in "serving" to those that were perceived to "tip" well. Even at lunch we were asked to sit at a different table so all the "Cruise Ship Tourist" could sit together and she sat with them while we were eating on our own. Later on, she took pains to "meet" the cruise ship schedules but not about us in terms of how we would get back to Izmir on scheduled tour time to catch our bus for Pamukkale in the night. In terms of explaining the site, she did well and appeared to know her stuff but she fell way short in being courteous and fair treatment of all on the tour. Had it not been for her behavior, this would have received 5 star rating.

        Feb 2019 • Friends
We (myself and my elderly mother) took our private tour because it was half the price of the organised tour from our cruise ship (in February 2019). Our guide was waiting for us at the port and our air conditioned people carrier was waiting nearby. As we drove to each site, our guide would tell us about Turkey and other points of interest as we passed them.
Once at Ephesus we were able to take our time, looking at the archaeology at taking photos without being rushed. We felt un-hurried and relaxed - nothing like the usual organised tours from the cruise ship.
We saw everything on the itinerary and even stopped at a ceramics workshop and the obligatory Turkish Rug outlet, but this was fine because I picked up a lovely silk rug as a reminder of my stay.
The lunch was filling, even though I am vegetarian, there was still more than enough to satisfy our appetite after a full day's tour.
We were delivered safely back to the port and it was one of the best tours we had. Mainly due to the efficiency of booking, the helpful guide and the safe driving of of driver. I would not hesitate to use Ounce Travel again and would recommend them highly.
