About
Tham Lod is a place where antiques and pre-historic remains have been found. Together with a lamp, be guided into Tham Lod Cave by bamboo raft. This huge cave is magnificently adorned with colourful stalagmites and stalactites. Lunch is provided at a local restaurant. Then visit "Tham Plaa" or Fish Cave. Walk about 200 metres through the park and cross a narrow suspension bridge to the cave. Next to the cave is a pool burbling from a subterranean stream. The pool holds enormous fish which you can feed. Visit also Zutongpae Bridge, the bamboo bridge located on the outskirts of Mae Hong Son City lined with bamboo mat of about 2 metres wide and approximately 500 metres in length which was built by the locals to serve the monks of Wat Tham Poo Sa Ma and locals of Ban Gung Mai Sak. The name "Zutongpae" is from the Shan language and means 'success'. It is believed that dreams will come true to those who cross the bridge.

One of the best highlights of our vacation
Awesome Experience! Beautiful sunrise with faraway mountains. You have to give it a try while in Chiangmai. My friends and I enjoyed ourselves so much, not to mention the fun ceremony after the hot air balloon ride! Kudos to our pilot!

Definitely one for the ticket list! Truly outstanding
Amazing, friendly and helpful staff - what more can we ask for. One of the best experience we had! Pick up and drop off is smooth and we like how we were informed what height was and where we were heading to. They gave us a certificate with a photo at the end. Must try this if you are in Chiangrai!

Beautiful scenery arriving at the caves. Stream full of fish. Need to hire a guide with a lantern to guide you through the cave. Then have a bamboo raft ride to the end of the cave. Very dark, only the lantern for light, so ,hard to take good photos. At the end of the cave, there is lots of light, so photos there are very good. Depart raft and climb some stairs, and walk around part of the cave. Very enjoyable.

Unusual visit to the caves of Tham Nam Lod: the cave, huge, is not electrified. The tour is provided by a local Guide equipped with a portable gas lamp. The cave is very beautiful and vast, squatting in places by swallows. Some paths or stairs / ramps are very dirty and steep. Part of the route is on the water, on an almost makeshift raft.
The tour is interesting, sporty and rock and roll. We spent more than 2 hours on site. A little lighting in the large cavities would be welcome.

Dear Divisa85, Thank you for sharing your unique experience at Tham Lod Cave. It sounds like an adventurous and memorable visit. The immense, non-electrified cave, guided by a local with a gas lantern, adds a rustic charm and an authentic touch to the exploration. The vastness of the cave, inhabited by swallows, must have been fascinating to see. Although the paths, stairs, and ramps were challenging and not the cleanest, they seem to have added to the adventure. The journey on a makeshift raft over the water within the cave certainly sounds exciting and a bit daring. We appreciate your suggestion for adding some lighting in the larger caverns to enhance the experience further. Overall, it sounds like an interesting, sporty, and rock-and-roll adventure that took over two hours to explore. Thanks, Nick (IAsia Thailand Online)
