- 1The crater spreads for 102 sq. miles and has 2.000 ft. high walls, making it virtually a Noah's ark and inhabiting almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. It's one of the very rare locations in the whole continent where you can witness the black Rhino. The crater has a river, several swamps, and a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest and open plains. It's also famous for its elephants which, are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a Wonder of the Natural World.

- vidyabvarma0 contributionsHoliday of a lifetime!Right from the outset, it was a pleasure dealing with Serengeti Camping Safari. Anita, who is the person I dealt with was prompt in replying my numerous emails, patiently answering my queries and making changes as and when requested. Upon landing in Arusha, we met with her and discussed our expectations for the safari, which were more than met! Our driver Aaron was fantastic. One felt very safe with him at the wheel! He was very knowledgeable about the terrain, the vegetation and of course the animals! The hotels all lived up to their reputation and were extremely comfortable. We came back with the feeling that we had had the holiday of a lifetime and that it was money well spent! I would definitely recommend using their services.Written September 3, 2023
- MarylineS920 contributionsAmazing experienceAnita, the responsible of the company which we were in contact with was always available to answer our questions and aware of our needs. Our guide/driver, who was smiling and joking around while respecting our intimacy gave us really interesting informations. He had incredible eyes to spot hidden animals. The food was fine and abundant. Thank you Serengeti camping safari for this fantastic experience. :)Written July 7, 2022

- claireaV8097VU0 contributionsBeautiful day hikeMy friend and I had a great time with our one day Kilimanjaro hike. The mountain and the scenery are beautiful, and our guide John was very knowledgeable and fun to talk with along the way. The booking agent, Anita, was also incredibly kind and helpful while helping us arrange the trip, and met us at the hotel to make sure pick up ad drop off went smoothly. We had a great time on this day long adventure-- which even included an unplanned stop to taste some locally made banana beer on the way back!Written March 19, 2022
- claireaV8097VU0 contributionsIncredible Safari Experience! My friend and I had an amazing safari experience with Serengeti Camping Safari! The travel manager, Anita, was a joy to work with in the booking process and she met us before and after the safari experience at the hotel to make sure everything went smoothly and introduce us to our guides. Our safari guide, Aaron was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. He went over the days’ itinerary with us each day and made sure we were happy with the plan. He made sure we had an amazing experience personal to us. I can’t stress enough the wonderful things we got to see because of Aaron! At every point along the way— from booking to airport pickup, to the safari itself— everyone we interacted with from Serengeti Camping Safari was thoughtful, kind, and responsive.Written March 19, 2022
- 86michaelo0 contributionsAwesome SafariThe Safari was organized according to our wishes (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire). Anita was very helpful to organize/plan this trip and responded on every question fast. The safari was awesome! Our guide Joseph was very knowledgeable and found so much animals which we couldn't see! He drove very safely and took care of our wishes (many game drives). The accommodations were great. Thank you for this wonderful trip.Written March 6, 2022
- 86michaelo0 contributionsWonderful Machame RouteWe just got back from this amazing trek up to Mount Kilimanjaro with Serengeti Camping Safari. Anita was very helpful to organize/plan this trip and responded on every question fast. Babaluu and Daniel were our guides and they were awesome. They have so much knowledge of the mountain. The whole team (porters, cook, waiter) were wonderful and we felt welcome. The food was on the whole trip delicious. Equipment was top notch, the tents were big and awesome. Thank you for this wonderful trip.Written March 6, 2022
- AntonS14090 contributionsFun, easy, and safeSerengeti Camping Safari made my hike up Kilimanjaro easy, fun, and safe. Communication prior to my coming to Arusha was quick and clear, and the company was very flexible tailoring the trek according to my specific requests (and as a solo, experienced hiker I had several:-). The crew was amazing, fun, and taught me some Swahili. The food was plenty and delicious, and the tent proved specious and dry:-) After the trek, while I was traveling around Tanzania, Anita continued to help me, for example, with buying tickets (to avoid Muzungu prices:-), and I appreciate this extra assistance. As for most people, hiking Kilimanjaro is once-in-a-lifetime undertaking, I recommend Serengeti Camping Safari as a company that will help you to make your dream come true.Written January 29, 2022
- 229andieg0 contributionsGood experienceWe had a nice mixed group with other guest. Our tour guide was very friendly. Our chef did a great job. The meals taste very delicious. We enjoyed the 4 days, we saw the big 5s. But the agency could work on the organisation. Just one example, it was a little confusing for us because we did not know, that we could leave some luggage at the hotel before the safari starts. But it was no problem, we could take all of our whole stuff.Written December 17, 2021
- 169rarese0 contributionsExcellent experienceWe are on a 6day Safari with Serengeti camping safaris in Serengeti and Ngorongoro. We have Chedi as a guide and this Safari is better than we have dreamed. Idd knows everything about everything out here and is super flexible, which we needed when our one daughter was sick when we were leaving. The camp sites are simply so good! And we've seen so much in the first few days. Serengeti camping safaris is local and is so super skilled and professional that we not only feel safe, but also get the most amazing experience. Thanks! Especially to our sweet and knowledgeable guide.Written December 2, 2021
- InesCR0 contributionsDoes not disappoint!!I spoke to more than 10 safari agencies. Anita stood out from the beginning because she was very responsive and you could ask 10 questions at once, she would kindly and patiently reply to all 10. I made several adjustments and special requests to our plans. We wanted to stay in nice lodges, so Anita let me hand-pick the lodges and adjusted the itinerary to all our wishes. We came to a very reasonable agreement in terms of price. We designed the route and picked the lodges, but we did not carry the extra cost of a private safari and so the agency offered another 4 people to join our itinerary, but never changed the route agreed with me. Then came our guide and driver Joseph. He is awesome! Excellent driving skills and orientation in the tough roads of the Serengeti. Super reliable, dealt with logistics of pickups, dropoffs and meals with minimal impact on the fun safari time. Joseph is kind, professional and knowledgeable. Friendly but serious about his job. Knew everything about the animals and answered sooo many questions. Drove such long distances but could spot the tiniest of creatures while driving! A guide like this really makes your safari. I highly recommend this team! The meals were great thanks to our chef, we always had lunch in comfortable places. On the final day there was an issue with a hotel in Arusha, but Joseph didn’t leave us until he knew we were safe and happy in a different hotel, and then Mohamed the agency boss came personally to check on us! I forgot something in the safari jeep and they went out of their way to come meet me and give it back. Really in terms of professionalism and reliability we are very happy! Thank you for an incredible experience and hoping to send many friends your way!Written November 21, 2021
- diegomM9943UH0 contributionsHighly recommended!!!We made 7 day safari of Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire NP. Our driver/guide was Joseph and chef was Ali. I can't describe how lucky we were to met them. Joseph was a really careful and good driver. He was also a knowledgeable guide doing what he could to show us all animals. Ali was our perfect chef. Every meal was on time and and were really delicious. Each day Ali suprised us with something new and we wondered how it is possible to make such things at the campiste:) These guys are the best team ,big-hearted and cheerful persons. We spent with them wonderful time.;-) Each place we visited is diffrent, so I can't tell which is the best. I recommend to see them all and experience close contact with animals, sound of Serengeti during night at the campsite or zebras waiting just behind tents in Ngorongoro. I would like also to thank Anitha for fast contact, coordination of our staff during safari and everything that made our time in Tanzania unforgettable.Written November 15, 2021

- RainerTheTraveller0 contributionsFrom start to finish a super organized unique tripPreparation: In the evening before the start of the hike we had a briefing in which everything was explained to us about the tour by our guide Livingstone. In addition, our complete equipment was checked by him too. Everything we didn't have (Gaters, thick hats, duff bags, 1x rain pants, 2 balaclavas, 4x 1.5L water bottles), we could rent for a fair price. Everything which was missing was procured within a very short time. We felt very well taken care of. DAY 1 Arusha to Machame Gate to Machame Camp •Elevation: 1674m to 2835m •Distance: 11 km •Hiking Time: 5-7 hours •Habitat: Rain Forest We started with breakfast at our hotel where we have been picked up by the crew at 8 am. I have booked a private tour with my girlfriend. 9 people accompanied: 1 guide, 1 assistance guide, 1 cook for us, 1 cook for the crew and the rest were packers. We were very surprised because we would have expected only half of the people. The drive from Arusha to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate took about 2 hours. The journey passes through the village of Machame which is located on the lower slopes of the mountain. We started at the Machame gate and walked through the rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge. DAY 2 •Machame Camp to Shira Camp •Elevation: 2835m to 3750m •Distance: 5 km •Hiking Time: 4-6 hours •Habitat: Moorland After breakfast, we left the glades of the rain forest and continued on an ascending path, crossing the little valley walking along a steep rocky ridge, covered with heather, until the ridge ends. The route turned west onto a river gorge. Time for rest, dinner, and an overnight stay at the Shira campsite. DAY 3 •Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp •Elevation: 3750m to 4600m to 3900m •Distance: 10 km •Hiking Time: 6-8 hours •Habitat: Semi Desert From the Shira Plateau, we continued to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continued, our direction has changed to South East towards the Lava Tower, called the “Shark’s Tooth” We continued down to the Barranco Hut to an altitude of 3900m. Here we rested, enjoyed dinner, and stayed overnight. Although you end the day at the same elevation as when you started, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for the summit day. DAY 4 Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp •Elevation: 3900m to 3995m to 4673m •Distance: 9km •Hiking Time: 8-10 hours •Habitat: Alpine Desert After breakfast, we left the Barranco camp and continued on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall also known as “Breakfast wall”, to the Karanga Valley campsite where we had lunch. After lunch, we left the Karanga camp and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the Barafu Hut. At this point, we have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we camped, rested, enjoyed dinner, and prepared us for the summit. Shortly before midnight, we continued our way to the summit. DAY 5 •Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Hut •Elevation: 4673m to 5895m (and down to 3048m) •Distance: 5 km ascent / 12 km descent •Hiking Time: 7-8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent •Habitat: Arctic The ascend led us through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This was the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point (5756m), we stopped for a short rest and continued our way the peak. On the way from the Stella point to the peak we were rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise we have ever seen. From Stella Point, it was a 1-hour ascent to the summit between glaciers. We successfully arrived at the Uhuru Peak, where we have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. We spent around 10 minutes before we began our descent straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site, stopping at Barafu for lunch and a power nap. Later in the evening, we enjoyed our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep… Exhausted but happy 😊 DAY 6 •Mweka Camp to Mweka Park Gate to Arusha •Elevation: 3048m to 1645m •Distance: 10 km •Hiking Time: 3-4 hours •Habitat: Rain Forest After breakfast, we continued the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate. After a short break the crew took us to a lunch site where we had the possibility to shop (shirts, coffee and other souvenirs). After the lunch with the whole crew, they drove us back to our hotel in Arusha where we could not wait for the first shower. Additional Information: - The food was very good. - One of the guides is always joining you for breakfast, lunch and dinner. - During dinner the briefing for the next day takes place. - The guides are also taking photos of you. - One of the guides had oxygen with him (just in case). - Only the guides spoke English. However, that was not a problem… you understand each other even without words. - The crew was very friendly. - Our guide Livingstone even knew a few words in German. We would book the tour again with the company!Written October 24, 2021
- RainerTheTraveller0 contributionsOutstanding Organization & great employees! My girlfriend and I booked a 6-day safari as well as a 6-day Kilimanjaro climb (Machame Route) and a transfer to Zanzibar with Serengeti Camping Safari. Our contact person during the whole period was Anita. She is a real organizational talent and answered all our questions, within a few minutes, to our complete satisfaction. Honestly, we have never felt so well taken care of on any of our trips as with her. Anita does a great job and is also a kind-hearted person! At Kilimanjaro Airport we were warmly welcomed by Anita and a driver. We went directly to the office (Arusha City Center) where we received welcome gifts (I don't want to spoil too much here) and the rest of the payment was processed. Afterwards there was the briefing for the safari which started the next morning. Everything made a super impression. After the briefing we were driven to a nice hotel with a garden where we should spend the night (The Charity Hotel, Arusha). At the hotel we freshened up briefly and then Anita showed us around town and got us some local food. Then it was already late and we went to bed because the safari should start the next morning and we were still a little tired from the flight. After breakfast we were greeted by Anita and Aaron, our safari guide. We were introduced to each other and then we were off! Aaron has been a very personable guide and had lots of knowledge as well as a very good eye for animals. The car was a comfortable Toyota Land Cruiser. We went to the following parks: Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. We stayed at Ngorongoro Marera Mountain View Lodge, Serengeti Heritage Luxury Camp and Ang'ata Ngorongoro Camp. One accommodation was more beautiful than the other! During the safari, we were provided full board. There was breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was always very good. Aaron always asked us what we wanted to do and gave us super suggestions. So we usually left early in the morning to take advantage of the whole day in the respective park. The safari was a lot of fun and we would book it again the same way. On the last day of the safari Aaron drove us back to the hotel where we had the briefing for our Kilimanjaro climb. We were accommodated in the same hotel. Again everything was very well organized by Anita.Written October 24, 2021

Loved every minute of our trip, the food cooked for us was so tasty and different every day. The day drives were my favourite part and then lounging by the pool. We saw plenty of wildlife and learned a lot about life in the bush. It was a truly unique and educational experience.
