About
Marangu Route, the "Coca-Cola" route, is the oldest, most well-established route on Kilimanjaro. This is the only route that offers sleeping huts in dormitory-style accommodations in lieu of camping. There are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut. Guests are supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining halls and basic washrooms, ranging from flushing toilets and running water at the lower huts to long drop toilets and buckets of water at Kibo Hut. Many favor Marangu because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path. However, the short time frame of the route makes altitude acclimatization fairly difficult. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the southeast. Marangu is, unfortunately, less scenic than the other routes because the ascent and descent are along the same path. It is also the most crowded route for that reason.

        Bad Quality Trip
Dodo group provide very low quality trips in high price, they are scammers. I will suggest to cross check everything 10 times before traveling with them.

Poor condition car, two breakdowns in 5 days!!Please READ & AVOID AVOID this group
Booked 6 days 5 night safari with Dodo Group, Collins Tamimu is the person who deals with clients Positives: Airport pick up Lodges are at nice locations, spacious & descent food (except lunchboxes) Driver was a very nice & helpful person Negatives: Very poor condition car, no engine power, every single thing was loose loud vibrations like baby toy Driver had to change the tire on day 1 Vehicle broke down on day 2 in the middle of jungle, waited 2 hours with family before got rescued to the camp Despite informing him about the condition of the car & broke down, he reluctantly made a promise to change the vehicle but he never did and sent the same vehicle on the following day, we had no choice Broke down again on the way out, another rescue to the Kiratu To compensate all of that shortcomings & trauma, Mr Collins promised a Dolphins trip whilst we were in Zanzibar after agreeing date he stopped responding to our text messages, what a service. AVOID AVOID AVOID, try your luck elsewhere, Collins is only after money not at all after service delivery or customer care!!

        😨
I would have had a day safari to Ngorongoro National Park on October 6th, 2023. I booked the trip through Tripadvisor. I received my ticket via email on October 4th, 2023. I then sent the same request to the DODO Group in Moshi to pick me up at the Ameg Lodge in Moshi, as stated in the reservation. on October 6th I was ready to be picked up at 5:00 a.m. Those who didn't come were the guide and driver... shortly after five I called the office, asked where my pickup was, I would wait... the gentleman said there was no ticket in the name Manuela... when I gave him the ticket number, (he was flushing his waste down the toilet) he simply hung up. What really bothered me was that he didn't even bother to check the computer. The amount already paid will be refunded by my credit card bank. thanks for nothing

We had a fabulous experience overall. The guides, food transport was all great. Some of the accommodation was a bit too basic but otherwise, a wonderful experience.

1st Time African : Solo trip (July 2023)
Collins was amazing. I had months of discussion with him to churn out the itinerary for my solo trip & he was patient, detailed and very accomodation-knowing I have almost no experience in Africa. Would totally recommend him for high level, professional experience team.

Tarangire National Park & Ngorongoro Crater
Had a short 2-day trip dedicated to exploring the Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. It was a beautiful first time experience and we highly recommend Dodo tours for those interested in a top-quality, professional, and safe safari experience. We had Raymos as our tour guide and he made sure we were safe, comfortable, and that we made the most out of the limited time we had. He was very friendly, patient, accommodating, and flexible yet still punctual with our set schedules. Transportation was no hassle with pick ups and drop offs; we were also free to make stops as needed (for souvenirs at local stores we passed by, food/bathroom stops, etc). It was a wonderful experience! We got to see 4/5 of the Big Five and learned a lot about Tanzanian wildlife and culture. It was definitely memorable!

I had a really bad experience with Dodo group.
I had a really bad experience with Dodo group. I had booked a package for a vacation through them and while the services they provided were satisfactory, some of the tours and hotels that were listed in our package were not paid for. We had to pay them out from our own pocket and it was quite an inconvenience for us. I would strongly advise anyone considering booking through Dodo group to be aware of this scam.

Kind, patient, knowledgeable, and highly supportive tour group
My partner and I took this tour along with a friend, guided by Deo and Meshak. Both of our guides were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We could not have asked for a better experience! We felt safe and cared for the entire trip. When the climb got challenging on summit night we stopped for dance breaks to keep the energy positive and spirits high. Our chef, Juvi, had a new dish on the menu for every meal. He even taught us how to cook his delicious cucumber soup! All of our porters were fantastic and kind and had tents set up and snacks prepared before we got to camp every day. We formed some core memories with this group and highly recommend Dodo for this once in a lifetime experience!

5 day safari - Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti, visit of Maasai village
I was looking for a 5 day safari at specific dates with mid range accomodation and Collins managed to arrange that for me. The communication went smoothly and his documentation regarding the itinerary looks very professional. I really liked the lodges that were included, especially the Ngorongoro Marera view lodge. Our guide Emanuel was really friendly, knowledgeable, respectful, patient and flexible. He loves telling stories and speaks good English. We were very lucky to see the big 5 plus cheetahs, hippos, giraffes, serval, zebras, wilderbeasts, lots of birds etc...It was a fantastic experience! You will be in very good hands if you order your safari via Dodo!

Really can't speak highly enough of Dodo Group Tanzania as an operator for both doing a Kilimanjaro trek and a Tanzanian safari. Collins is brilliant to deal with, always prompt and very thorough with his responses and covered all of our questions pre-trip, adding any other information that would be useful if we'd been ignorant to ask. Fredrick and Danny were our guides for the Kilimanjaro climb and were totally professional but had great senses of humor and did everything possible to help us make it to the top (which all four of us did). The cook, waiter, and porters that also helped us get up the mountain were all hard-working, fun-loving, and great guys whose strength, balance, and endurance is superhuman, especially given some of the footwear they use to get up the mountain. The food was different each day and it was very good and was always timely and in abundance. John our driver/guide and Pantaleo our cook on safari were also amazing. John was a wealth of knowledge and was never stumped with any question we asked of him, and we're pretty sure his eyes are bionic because he could spot an animal from a Kay away and know for certain what it was in seconds. He also had a great, dry sense of humor and a fantastic command of English. Pantaleo whipped us up bush feasts every day which were incredible, especially given where and with what he had to cook. The mountain and the safari were both incredible, beautiful places, but it was the Dodo Group team/people which we will remember for just as long as we think about Tanzanian Trip.

I was in Africa for a couple of months and in these months I met a lot of great people. Thru these friends I got to know the Dodo group cause I was looking for some nice things to experience. So first I did the Safari in Serengeti and Ngorongoro and it was a wonderful experience. After the Safari I wanted to see a little bit more of Africa and was convinced to do the kili climb. I do not regret this desision cause it was the best experience of my life. The whole crew was amazing and The guide helped me through it all. He made the climb feel like a journey and made the experience even better. We had some laughs, walks and watched the sunrise at the top of Kilimanjaro. THATS AMAZING!
Dont hesitate and book dodo group for the best experience!
