The driver and the guide were very kind and easy to talk to. They took care of us and we enjoyed the trip soo much ❤️ Highly recommended.

*** UPDATE *** John, the owner of the company, offered us a full refund of the 30$ and let us know, that he fired Ibrahim. Due to his professional response to this issue, I am upgrading the rating from 2 to 4. *** ORIGINAL REVIEW *** We were picked up and dropped off by John, the owner of the company & a nice guy. For the Safari you are reshuffled every day with other people coming/leaving earlier/later than you but our Cook & Driver were very good. However, on the moring of our first day, we were picked up by Ibrahim. He said if we want to go on the Safari, we need to pay 30$ extra for rental sleeping bags. When we asked if we could buy some new ones he said there was no time for that. So we paid... 30$ is a lot of money there. And a crazy lot for old rental sleeping bags for 2 nights.. However Ibrahim let us no choice.. On Safari our Driver said, that it is a very common scam to ask for some last-minute extra dollars when tourists have no choice to say no. Very disappointing. Crazy fact: all the other tourists on our car were provided the exact same rental sleeping bags without paying extra money. But as I said, the Safari itself was very nice & the promised itinerary was followed perfectly.

John from Fig Tree Tours can organize anything for you. I chose a 4 day budget Safari but opted for a lodge. You have to know that the budget safaris mix people from several agencies to fill the car. So I ended up in a car with people doing camping Safari, I was the only one who stayed at lodges. They had to reshuffle the accommodations to allow this so I wasn't actually sleeping in the noted lodges but got one that was more luxurious than I expected (Luxury heritage tented lodge). The Rhino lodge is also very nice (a bit older fashion but fabulous food). So I absolutely recommend the lodge Safari, you pay a little bit more but the level of comfort is tremendously higher (the Simba camp e.g. didn't have water when our group arrived in the evening). From the tented lodge in Serengeti you can hear the animals walking and roaring around your big tent without feeling any discomfort. I would go crazy in a little camping tent. The only thing I didn't like was that you loose time with bringing and picking up the people from the camp when you sleep in lodge at different location. But in overall you are in Africa so time means nothing. Fig Tree Tours are not operator themselves, they contract a driver to do the tour for them about 2 days before the start of the tour and not all the drivers have the same level of enthusiasm. We had Benson and he was an excellent tracker, we saw all the big five and even some more (lions, leopard, cheetah, jackal, hippos, rhino and even a turtle 🐢) even though his car was very old but luckily didn't break down (flat tires are regular thing but we saw several cars broken down at the side of the road). Note: you can only pay the tour in dollars (very bad exchange rate for Euros and a 5% surcharge if you pay with a card.) All in all it was a great safari for reasonable price and I would recommend it as even the midrange Safaris drive the same route and sleep in similar lodges inside the park.

We had an amazing experience with our tour guide Emanuel. We booked a 5 day safari with the slightly more premium "tented camps" and were positively supprised by all accomondations and the food served. With 5 people, our group had the perfect size. The animals we got to see on the safari were, of course, the absolute Highlight. We could see all the big 5 animals and also giraffes, zebras, wilderbeasts, exotic birds and more. Our guide was very knowledgeable in both the animals as well as the plants and the local scenery and culture. Also worth noting: We were vegetarians, and received Alternative food options.

I went to hike to mount meru with guide Makundi! Mount Meru was amazing and Makundi is a great guide. Views from the top were amazing. I can recommend fig tree tours and traveling for guiding to mount meru! They are flexible with reasonable prices.

We are pleased with the time we spent on the Dena safari in February 2021 with this company. We saw very closely all the animals of Africa, shot an excellent video and took many photos. The staff was polite, friendly, we were greeted with a sign and then at the end we were taken to Arusha airport. The food was top notch and the experience of staying in tents was unforgettable. Recommended for a safari!

Chose Fig Tree based on their offering, reviews & budget friendly price... so happy we found them! Did the 7night safari with our 2 boys, 14 &13. Picked up from Kilimanjaro Airport and driven to our first night's stay, Vijiji Centre, a lovely place. John was very accommodating & easy to reach. The park visits were changed around due to others joining our tour for shorter tour options but this worked well for us. Frank, our guide, is expertly skilled & definitely the stronghold of this tour. Masewa, our chef, made beautiful meals, enough to satisfy all our different tastes, as if from nowhere...even though his facilities were so limited! We felt very lucky to have had these 2 on our tour. We did Serengeti (2 days), Ngorogoro, Tarangire & Lake Manyara. All the parks are amazing in their own way. Better mattresses at Seronera camp would be great (also remember towels!) but overall we loved every minute of our 'budget' Safari! Really glad we did the 7 nights. We happily recommend Fig Tree! I do have to add, unfortunately, we missed our flight to Dar due to John being in a car accident on his way to fetching us. This left us stranded since his phone battery was also dead, but quick thinking & a helpful hotel manager had us arrive with an hour to spare by taxi (which John then paid for), sadly the plane was overbooked & we had more drama to deal with. It all worked out ok'ish, just tainted the end a bit. We couldn't fault our safari experience & as such still happy to give 5 stars.

We have had a great experience with Fig Tree. John was very helpful. Guide Gabriel and Cook Masawe were amazing. We had a 4 nights camping safari to Serengeti and Ngorongoro with them. As a family of 4 we were very satisfiedz Definitely would recommend.. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The visits to Ngorongoro Crater (Seen a lot of Lions,Buffalos,Rhinos,Hyenas,Antilops,Hippos,Pumbas,Gnus,Zebras...) and Tarangire (100’s of Elephants & Antilops,Lions,Giraffes) Nationalpark were incredible! Top price/achievement with FigTree!

Everything was as promised except of pickup time on first day. Although we were picked up after 7 we left for Safari after 10:30 am because car was waiting for people booked in different companies. In the car each one of us had safari sold by different company but it was not a problem at all. Safari was better the expected. We have seen thousands of animals and all kinds that were possible to be seen in Serengeti/Tarangire/Ngorongoro. Tents were very basic but that's what was in the offer :) Food was good. Car was little bit used but still ok. Driver was great and very helpful. For sure I can recommend this company :)

My girlfriend & I did a 3 night/4 day tour of Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorogoro crater. It was the perfect amount of time to cover a range of habitats and see all the wildlife on show. Fig tree were the most competitively priced safari we found, we expected there to be trade off in quality here.. but there wasn't. We stayed in the same campsites & followed the same routes as most of the premium priced operators. The food was good, and our guide excellent & knowledgeable. Most importantly we got up close with all the wildlife. I found John very helpful in the entire booking process. He accommodated our request to upgrade to a lodge for one night (which I would recommend as its an amazing experience) and generally the safari far exceeded our expectations. I was slightly apprehensive paying a sizeable deposit in advance, however this is standard requirement for most safaris and its definitely worth it for having the peace of mind, having the safari booked on arrival meant we could relax for entire holiday. One small criticism is that the details of the itinerary moved slightly over time, this did not make a big difference in the greater scheme of things but if you are they type that gets hung up on this you will need an open mind to minor changes. I would have no problem recommending John & Fig Tree tours, and was use them again next time I safari in Tanzania!

everything is super! met at the airport, placed in a hotel and taken to a 2-day safari. I made a prepayment through the fig tree tours website, there were no problems! we really liked the cooperation with this company, I recommend it to everyone!
