Me and my teenage kids did a walking tour of Akko with Andrew recently, and choosing Andrew for this turned out to be a great decision. Andrew has lived in Akko his entire life, he’s a true local who knows all of the history of Akko, stories which a non-local guide could never share, and he knows everyone in Akko and everyone knows him. He’s fluent in English, Hebrew, and Arabic. He speaks to everyone in their native language, and seems to be everyone in Akko’s friend.

We visited all of the historic sites in this ancient and charming city, and because of Andrew’s deep personal connections we were even granted access to one of the crusader fortresses which was technically closed to the public today.

When touring a city like Akko which has so much history but is a small town with a small town vibe, you would really miss out if you don’t hire a local guide, who knows every nook and cranny, and can give you a real flavor of the city and what it’s about.

Andrew is the ideal guide for your visit to Akko, which is an extremely underrated city to begin with. It’s not even that far a drive from Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, and it’s close to Haifa, Nazareth, Caesarea etc. I wouldn’t overlook Akko when traveling in Israel, and I would highly recommend that you hire Andrew as your guide.

As a local he gives insight into the city and it’s past. There is so much to see and he doesn’t just take you to the touristy spots. Even at the touristy spots he is able to share so much more than what’s on the signs. Highly recommend getting a group together and having Andrew show you the sights and sounds of the city.

Andrew Abado was an incredible tour guide. We had so much fun learning from his stories about Akko. He was able to keep both the children and adults attention by telling fascinating and interesting stories about Akko . He was also very understanding allowing us time to use restrooms and eat when needed to. Don't hesitate and book with Andrew Abado you will not regret it

I am a frequent traveler and often use daily tour guides. I rarely write reviews, but Andrew Abado was so outstanding as a guide that I write this one. He was on time and efficient, his English was excellent, and he (unlike many other guides) was open to answering any questions we had, even on controversial subjects. He was flexible, and while he had a normal and comprehensive agenda, he was willing to focus on what interested us. He lives in Akko, is a licensed and knowledgeable guide, and was promptly responsive to our booking inquiry. I recommend him highly.

You couldn’t wish for a better guide. Andrew is extremely knowledgeable about all the different layers of history of Akka and can put it in a broader context. He is entertaining and explains things very clearly, speaks perfect English and the four hours just flew by. By the end we felt that we really knew and understood beautiful Akka. I thoroughly recommend him.

Andrew is a remarkable tour guide. We had never seen Akko this way before. He is very knowledgeable and manages to make the four hour walking tour a fascinating experience. He is very friendly and uses humor and his vast historical and local knowledge of the city to keep you engaged throughout his tour. We were a group of four people and all of us would highly recommend taking Andrew’s tour of Akko.

We spent over 4 hours walking around Akko with Andrew in November and it was great. He is extremely knowledgeable, has lots of great stories, knows everyone in Akko, can answer lots of questions and is super friendly. He shared his love of the city and even talked about Akko and tourism and showed us some of the new b&bs in the city and plans for the city's future.

I have been to Akko many times and I simply love the place. It was my mothers first visit to Israel and we decided to spend the day exploring this magnificent city. Andrew was our guide, who came highly recommended and - he is simply amazing!
We were met by this charming and enthusiastic young man at 10 am - and spent an incredible day in Akko. His passion for the city is reflected in every single place we visited.
He knowledgeably took us on a journey through every historical period ( including the present) and shared his passion of the magnificent city with us in such an engaging manner. We not only went where all the tourists go.. but had the privalage of seeing the living city through Andrew’s eyes.
Such a treat!!!!
Andrew - Simply the best!!!

…of knowledge, generosity, humor, and good feeling. He has a remarkable ability to bring a place to life in complex yet accessible ways. Andrew teems with stimulating information, an archeologist by training who is also certified by Israel’s rigorous tour guide education program. His family’s deep roots in the region, as well as his own experience growing up here, make for an uncommonly rich perspective. We walked away with a vivid picture of the city and its many histories, from the Canaanites to the 2021 riots. Better yet, we walked away curious to learn even more—a sure sign sign of a brilliant guide. Thank you, Andrew, for sharing so much knowledge in such a warm and wonderful style.

We four friends - two from Canada and two living in Israel for forty years - spent a thoroughly enjoyable and informative afternoon touring old Acco with Andrew. Andrew, who is delightfulfully engaging, took a few minutes to tell us about himself and to gauge our backgrounds and what we were looking for in a guided tour. The next four hours (actually he gave us more time than that without any sense that we were imposing on his schedule) responded accurately to our levels of prior knowledge and interests. Having grown up in Acco (with local friends that gained us entrance to some places not accessible to the average group or guide)) he knows the territory impeccably, and with academic credentials in archeology (and firm background in a wide range of relevant subjects) he conveyed solid information. On several occasions he surveyed the spectrum of opinions, explained why one theory appealed to him and challenged us to weigh in. He was comfortable admitting when he could not answer a question (rarely), avoiding the fabrications that some guides resort to in such situations. Besides Acco, Andrew shared (but did not impose) his thoughts on various topics related to Israeli public life, Arab-Jewish relations, etc. that provided an additional and informative dimension to the tour. His English is exceptional.
Before the tour we asked Andrew for suggestions as to what to see on our own before our scheduled time with him. He sent us a detailed list of ideas, again specific to our interests.
It was the highlight of our three days in Acco and I would recommend Andrew without reservation to any eager tourist.
