About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 173abia0 contributionsunique and wonderful experience!I must say this was truly one of the most memorable experiences I had in Bali. I had the chance to visit a beautiful Balinese village - where there are only 50 local families!! The setting is serene and very picturesque. We didn’t only learn how to make coconut oil we also learned about Balinese daily life and got insight Into family life in Bali. I highly recommend this experience - very authentic. Our hosts spoke very good English- can’t say enough good things about it all . The communications leading up to the trip was also great :) It’s a winner 👍🏻Written January 26, 2019
- bellarosalie0 contributionsFantastic morning!I booked this at 9pm the night BEFORE! Now I don’t suggest you leave it last minute like I did but that’s amazing service, to respond and let me book so late. I was collected by Sangayu and invited into her home, I was treated to coffee and a sweet Balinese rice snack before we started. I was shown and tried myself step by step the process of coconut oil making. Sangayu was very patient with me when I was terrible at trying to get through the thick skin on the coconut! I was shown around her garden, treated to some mangosteens and played with her very cute son whilst we waited for the coconut oil to simmer. I was also given a massage/ scrub on my arms with leftover grated coconut! I had a very generous sized (in my opinion, when you think of the sized bottles at home and how much they cost) of oil to take home! It smells amazing! And is helping my mosquitoe bites to go down! Good idea to use it for that thank you Sangayu! Afterwards I was taken to the Luwak coffee plantation and Bali swing which was a lot of fun. These were extras that I paid for that Sangayu simply asked if I would like to be taken to (I could of said no) it was never implied that she was expecting anything for this, but I gave her some money at the end as a thank you for her time and for being so kind. It was a very lovely morning well spent! I highly (and genuinely) recommend booking this. Thank you for your time, it was a pleasure to meet you Sangayu!Written November 28, 2018
- Lara5372720 contributionsA unique experience! We had such a good time making the coconut oil with Kadek! He was really kind and did everything to make our experience special. He showed us around his home and answered all of our questions about the Balinese culture. It was really nice to see how the traditional process of making coconut oil works and we were able to try coconut water, coconut and freshly picked Mangosteen from the yard too. At the end of the day we took a little bottle of coconut oil home. I can definitely recommend it! Thank you, Kadek for the great day:)Written November 20, 2018
- MayaU4130 contributionsGreat exprienceWe had a really fun morning with Sangayu and Kadek. Kedak kindly picked us up in Ubud and took us to their small village north of Ubud. Sangayu warmly welcomed us in their home with tea and rice treat that was made by her. We learned how to make coconut oil from scratch and while we were waiting for the oil to boil, they gave us some nice hand massage/scrub with the coconut pulp which left our hands so nice and soft! They offered some fresh coconut water and mangosteens from their tree after the class. It was the best mangosteens we have ever had! Thank you for opening your home and sharing your knowledge with us!Written November 16, 2018

- 0 contributionsA beautiful afternoonWe had a lovely time with our guide Yande. Very polite, very friendly. He spoke about culture in Bali. After 45 minutes driving we visited his beautiful villlage, Delodsema, nice traditional village, quiet and authentic. We hosted in Kadek’home, very welcome with food an tea, prepared by Sangayu his wonderful wife. It was interesting to learn to prepare The coconut oil. Also we visited YAnde’s family, an artist family and also the village’s project, a beautiful hospitality area which should become a camping near a river. The commutation with Kales to organize the tour was perfect. I recommend a lot this activityWritten July 23, 2018
- DelonixR0 contributionsRelaxed day out with friendly localsWe were a group of three - myself and two kids (4 and 9 year-olds). The two local guides picked us up at our remote villa in Ubud and were very flexible to cater the programme to suit young kids. Lunch comprised of locally grown organic vegetables which were delicious! The kids liked the sate a lot. We had a good walk in the padi fields afterwards and weather was so cooling. The guide gave a very informative introduction to the local rice farming practices (e.g. irrigation systems and religious rituals) and was able to answer my many queries along the way. It helped that he grew up in that village. We were very grateful that both guides piggy-backed the kids as some parts were rather challenging to navigate (we were wearing slippers). We also visited the guide's family home where we were introduced to the basic layout of various buildings within the compounds. The kids were thrilled to play with their cute, adorable dogs and kept asking to staying longer! All in all, a meaningful afternoon spent in getting to know a little more about how the local folks live in Bali. p.s. The guides also took photos and videos along the trip and sent it us for memory sake!Written June 16, 2018

We wanted to experience learning how to cook Balinese style cuisine, and this private class was spot on! Most classes we found were group classes, but private classes like this one really lets you have more hands on experience while getting to know the host’s family and traditions. We were picked up at our hotel and driven to Kadek’s family compound in a small village. All the ingredients are fresh and the menu was well thought out. Would definitely recommend to try this experience out.

I am organising a retreat next year for a group of 15-20 people for this tour; however, it says there is a limit of 15 people. Can you advise if this can be done in 2 groups please?
