Great but some improvements would help
Generally great but some points to work on. Communication before and afterwards were great Though I got a different bike on the day due to a crash of my hired one and this new bike had a spoke break on it mid ride and I had to do the second half of the ride hoping that my wheel wouldn’t buckle or collapse. Also when it happened the guide didn’t spot that I had a problem and rather than returning for me I had to guess the remaining 2 1/2 miles to the turnaround point on my own as for 20 mins there was no sign of him. Also whilst go pros promised on the website it was just a few photos on his phone and no videos at all of me, which was disappointing. finally it would’ve been nice to have a relaxed coffee in the ricefields but instead we got a banana and drinks from a supermarket. If I was the owner of this business I would give the guide an allowance to spend on a decent coffee stop somewhere nice Overall though the riding and guiding was 95% perfect. And yes I would use them again. 👍

Cannot rave about this experience enough! A must do!
Everything about my interaction with Bali Road Bikes was just amazing and I am so grateful to have had such a fulfilling experience while in Bali! To begin with Stefano was more than accommodating and welcoming when I made the initial enquiries about the trip - I am a reasonable level of fitness but know nothing about road bikes or have any gear, Stefano was really reassuring and knowledgeable so made me feel like I was in safe hands ahead of the trip. I ended up hiring all the gear (shorts, gloves etc) and was really glad as was all comfortable, clean and protective against the sun on a 4 hour ride. As far as I could tell the bike I was given was top quality and was perfect for me. I must say that our guide Kadek was just the best guy to go on a bike ride with! Not only is he very calm and reassuring, he kept us so safe with masterful navigating / directing busy traffic at some points, and is just an all round lovely person who it was a pleasure to spend time with. Not to mention he is a bike champion in Bali, so we feel very lucky to have him as a guide! The ride itself was perfect for me (about 55k to Petang) - long enough and works up a reasonable sweat without being too strenuous for a non-cyclist. Of course the overall experience of cycling through tiny villages and vast rice fields is so special, really takes you off the beaten track and is an opportunity to explore like no other. Thanks Stefano and Kadek for this amazing experience! Ashley x

      Great ride in rural Bali
My second time with Bali road bike and again didn’t disappoint. Prompt pick up from my hotel for an early start to beat the heat. Kadek was my guide this time and he is an asset to Stefanos team, knowledgeable knew the route and pointed out all the hazards along the way. I chose the 60 km rice field tour and it was a delightful morning riding through the rice fields and villages after clearing the busy town area. Terrain was pretty much as described with a few short climbs bud mostly easy going on good surfaces. Bike was a high spec. Specialized carbon frame set up and any type of cleats can be accommodated though Stefano kindly lent me a pair of his. Will return for another ride later this year.

      Nice place to bike
For my 50th birthday we booked a road bike tour with Bali Road Bike. I cycle however my husband does not so we opted for the "easy" 40K ride. Our driver picked us up in Penestanan and took us to the shop to get fitted for bikes. We headed out to the countryside with our driver and our guide Kadek. We rode though beautiful countryside with very little traffic and minimal climbing. The scenery was spectacular and Kedek was a great guide. Overall I really enjoyed the cycling trip however there were a couple of small hiccups. I ordered a mountain bike for my husband as he has never ridden a road bike (only mountain bikes). When we got to the shop we were informed that there were no mountain bikes available. They did switch out the peddles however, for him, the road bike was not that comfortable. I did not bring any cycling gear as we are travelling for six months carry-on only so I did have to use the shoes provided by the shop. The bottoms of the shoes were very well worn and I found them difficult to clip in and out of as they were very slippery. I would definitely recommend you bring your own gear. This is a great tour however if you are not used to riding a road bike, it might not be for you. If you are an experienced rider who is serious about cycling, this is your place!

Great opportunity for great cycling experiences
Unfortunately I discovered this opportunity a little late, because otherwise it would have been more than the single trip I Got with Arik. But fortunately BaliRoadBike can help with it all. Shoes, clothing, waterbottles, etc. and very fine bikes ... and if needed breakfast and/or lunch. And with your “coach” Arik you are in safe and strong hands. He is really tough and I guess you need to be proof if you should challenge Jim in the mountains. I had the most wonderfull doing the Pelaga - Catur ride from Ubud. Thank you Arik (and Stefano) for a very well organized trip.

      Amazing bike ride, Ubud Bali
Stefano and Wayan were very good guides. The tour was about 60km with some tough hills in places but they went at my pace and I didn’t feel pressured at all. Wayan helped support me when I was struggling to get me through the ride. Stefano was very professional and safe through the roads and gave good pre warnings for turnings and up coming hills. The view and scenic route through Ubud’s villages and rice fields were stunning. They bikes were good standard and and they made all the adjustments needed to make it comfortable. I highly recommend this tour and would like to return to do the ride up Kintami next time 😊

      Brilliant riding around Jatiluwih
Such a seamless operation. From the initial email request for information through to the collection and drop off at the hotel it all added up to a great day. The ride was managed really well and our guide (Kadek) set a comfortable yet challenging pace. I'll book again on my next trip to Bali, hopefully this time with some other friends. And thanks Stefano for the loan of your bike! Don't know if there are many other operators out there who would be happy to lend out their personal bike!

      Great cycling experience in Bali!
I did 2 rides with BaliRoadBike and loved every minute of it. Beautiful views and surroundings are a sure thing. I felt super safe during the whole ride as the guides point out every obstacle on the road. Communication beforehand went very smooth. Stefano and Kadek: thank you for this great experience, absolute highlight of my trip to Bali!

Best way to explore Bali - on two wheels! - with a very professional and experienced team
My friends and I found Bali Road Bike through a friend's recommendation. I'm so glad we did - we had a unique and unforgettable Bali experience! Prior to our arrival in Bali, I coordinated with Stefano on the route and scheduling. Stefano is extremely responsive, as well as very kind and flexible around our group's shifting plans (sorry about that Stefano...). We organized a car pick-up from Seminyak through Bali Road Bike. Our driver arrived at our villa well in advance of the agreed pick-up time, and did a great job getting us to Ubud and back. Our bikes and rental kit were clean, in good condition, and maintained well. Before we set out, we were offered complimentary granola bars and sports gels for purchase (reasonably priced), which came in handy on the ride and were delicious. We felt completely safe and in good hands with Kadek, who was our group leader for the day. Kadek is really great company and a champion cyclist. He led us through quiet and picturesque villages and rice fields, and showed us an off-the-beaten path temple surrounded by a lake. Afterwards, we were able to access lovely, well-appointed open-air shower facilities at the affiliated hotel/villa, Samara. It's definitely walkable from the bike shop but if you're done with hills for the day, you may want to consider getting a motorcycle to the villa... We had an amazing time and will definitely be back for another ride! Thank you, Stefano and Kadek!

      Top cycling experience in Bali
If you want a top cycling experience in Bali, you have to get in contact with Stefano from BaliRoadBikes. Not only does he provide you with a nice bike and all the equipment you‘ll need, but he and his team give you a unique and sensational time in the saddle through the rice terraces and/or the more hilly parts of the island. Highly recommend.

      Amazing ride with amazing guide
I have ride the Kintamani tour with Kadek and it was a pleasure. Kadek was pointing to all of the obstacles, vehicles, motorbikes and holes in the road to warn you. It was very easy to follow him. It was an amazing climb, and a very hard one as well!

I had a fantastic experience with Bali Road Bike. I was in Bali with absolutely no cycling equipment, and Stefano provided me everything from helmet to socks & shoes. I had a 140km ride with Kadek, an ex Bali cycling champion, climbing lake Bratan and Batur. Kadek is a professional and kind guide, I enjoyed his company so much. The itinerary, pacing, stops were all very well planned.

This will surely be one of my most memorable experiences in Bali. Thank you so much Stefano and Kadek and I hope to see you soon !!

Great days of riding in Bali on more new routes through phenomenal rice fields and villages. These routes are designed for maximum elevation over a 100Km course and it is truly challenging while still being safe and on underutilized roads.

A long steady climb with average of 3% grade for 10 miles leads to 3 big descents and climbs with many sections over 15%.

Stefano and Arik have a large selection of rides to offer all levels of riders and you will be more than pleased. My second time in Bali in 2019 and looking forward to a trip in 2020.

Riding with BaliRoadBike was one of the best experiences I’ve had while traveling. I wish I could give the owner Stefano and my guide Kadek 10 stars. The booking process was so easy. Stefano responded to emails very quickly and was very helpful during the booking process. He even sent me a Strava link to the ride I would be doing from a time he did it in the past.

The day started with Stefano picking me up at my villa right on time. We stopped and picked up two other travelers on the way to the shop. Stefano’s fleet of bicycles is beautiful, all quality bikes/components and well maintained. When we arrived at the shop, the bikes were all set up - air in the tires, correct pedals attached, and everything else ready to go. Stefano gave us granola bars and had energy gels for purchase. The two other travelers with me booked another ride, so Stefano rode with them and it was just Kadek and I riding up Kintamani.

Kadek was a great guide. His English was flawless, he signaled every bump/obstruction in the road, and he was easily the strongest rider I’ve ever been on a ride with. I’ve never seen someone climb out of the saddle for so long, it was truly impressive! We stopped twice during the ride - once to buy electrolyte drinks and sandwiches about 2 hours in and once to take some photos of the beautiful vista at the top or the volcano. He took some amazing pictures and videos of me during the ride which I am so thankful for! They came out great.

As for the route, it was beautiful and mostly quiet. The roads were smooth for the almost all of the ride. There are a few bumpy sections, notably a short stretch at the beginning of the descent, but we were over that quickly and then flew downhill on beautiful, smooth roads. There were not many cars for most of the ride, and in the areas with more cars, I never felt unsafe following Kadek. The drivers in Bali drive slowly and are very attentive.

The route started with about 5-7 miles downhill, followed by “The Beast” - an 18+ mile climb. The gradient of the climb is very mild until close to the top, where it gets steep. Kadek made sure I was ok and encouraged me the whole way up. I mostly ride on weekends due to time constraints with work, and this ride was extremely difficult but also doable for someone of my caliber. I am far from an avid rider (unfortunately), but was able to conquer this ride. The hill is tough but such a good challenge for any type of rider.

After we paused for pictures at the top of Kintamani, we began the descent. As I mentioned earlier, there were a few bumps. Once we were past that short stretch, the road was smooth, it appeared to be
newly paved. The descent was amazing, I was really able to fly downhill. Kadek never left me and made sure I descended safely.

I would recommend BaliRoadBike to any traveler in Bali. I will be back in Bali and I will certainly be back riding with BaliRoadBike! Thanks Stefano and Kadek!

Believe all the positive reviews as the rides here are amazing. I did a 100km hill climb route and the scenery was awesome as was Arik. The roads here are in the main very good surfaces and it doesn’t take long to be out of the hustle of Ubud and into the quiet countryside. A bike is the best way to see the country-experience the sights sounds and smells of Bali in a fantastic ride!

This is my second trip to Bali this year and a big part of why Bali is the riding and Bali road bike.(See my previous review from January) I came this time with a cycling buddy and we again bought our own bikes and did two rides with Steffano and Kadek. The first ride was the 95km loop to the Jatiluwih rice fields the most scenic ride I have done here. The roads around the top of the loop are amazing, small single lanes with almost no traffic and stunning jungle views. This 1300mtr elevation ride is a little tough on the way home as there are several tough bridge crossings with steep short climbs. Our second ride was a return to the famed Pelaga-Catur loop which crosses the outer rim of the Mt. Batur Volcano Caldera and is just an amazing climb. After the initial 8km out of Ubud under the watchful eye and guidance of the boys, you start a 51km climb to1800mts above Sea level that just does not stop delivering short punchy ramps from 9-18% The false flat reprieves are 4-5%! Bali Road Bike is a professional fun ride crew who are there to help you set a ride to suit and guide you through the best access points to the magical back roads of Bali. Steffano has plans to move the pickup point to the outskirts of Ubud to make the ride even more magical and coming soon ride points from Canggu area North up some secret unkown roads to access the rice fields and Mountains. Bring your bike or book theirs, you will love these rides, bring your favorite ride buddies, Strava segments everywhere for Bin Tang bragging rights. Look up the 10 rider island Tour! GoPro mandatory :-)

This is one of the best companies I have ever cycled with.
They were helpful and easy to communicate with from the start. Stefano arranged a perfect custom made tour. Challenging exactly what we wanted.
Great support from the car following- always good and water on hand!

We asked for a challanging bike ride and it's certainly what we got!!! We did 3 days and cycled a good distance - 100km a day roughly. Long hard climbs (what we asked for!)
The gear was awesome -The bikes were great
Fully supported for punctures, repairs (didn't need it)
Arik was our guide who is an absolute machine on the bike! Always had tips and support (helped me get a couple of QOMs)

The places to stay over the two nights on the tour were luxury and fantastic. Great food. One place had a set menu and they let us swap things out. So accommodating.

Stefano recommended a place to stay at start and finish- the samara which is absolutely superb to say the least. (Separate review to follow)

I honestly cannot rave about this holdiay/company enough!!!
