visited ARMA the art museum last year in November,it was the second time i came here.the first time,i joined a woodcarving class, after that,i visited the arts museum. since it was many years ago,so this time, when i stayed around this area,i just want to visit the museum again,to see its arts collection,so came here again.the collection is great, after many years,my knowledge of Balinese painting increased,so the feeling different from the first time.this museum located in a garden, the surroundings is nice and beautiful, took many photos here.there is an arts shop attached, also a cafe inside, when you buy the ticket, you can get one free Balinese snack and a cup of coffee or tea.so you can have a very artistic day here. there are many arts workshop held here,i even admired a male dance teacher teaching local kids how to dance, all are boys, very special, cuz most dance is for girls or woman, but the dance he taught is for man, maybe it is Baris Dance, not sure of it,may learn it in the future.

there are 2 museums inside ... one traditional and one modern art. The area is surrounded with lush green gardens and very cool. we were given booklets about the museum and free coffee / drink coupons after we bought the tickets.the paintings were very beautiful. some kids were having music lessons there that time and overall its a pleasant experience to learn more about Bali history , beliefs and how it has evolved with time.

Before you even get stuck into the art and digesting all of that, this musuem is set within such a charming Ubud oasis. It's worth going in just to wander around the grounds, admire the buildings and enjoy the atmosphere. It's so peaceful and charming. Then, you also have all of the wonderful art! I really like the modern building most.

A huge museum area, combined with hotel & restaurants. Spent almost the whole day walking around in the museum, having tea & lunch. Interested to stay in their hotel. Looks lovely.

We were lucky enough to meet and share a chilled tea with Agung Rai, the owner/inspiration behind this beautiful haven in amongst the traditional rice fields. Apparently that's the sort of man he is, one who delights in his own culture and loves to show it off to foreigners while learning about theirs. he is widely travelled philanthropist who does what he does because he loves doing it. He and his wife dreamed of and developed this amazing integrated space where nature, culture and art are inter changeable and in complete harmony.
Through their mainly private collection you can gain an understanding of the development of Indonesian art and how religion and culture are inter changeable. The exhibition traces the development of Indonesian art from traditional to modern.
A must see if you like art and culture.

The art museum has passionate guides dotted throughout the large cool display rooms who where only too happy to talk about the art works. It was also pleasant wandering around the spacious gardens.
The ticket price includes a hot or cold drink. I enjoyed a refreshing iced tea, and every one else enjoyed iced coffees. Service was very friendly and I made a mental note that the large cool open aired restaurant would be a good spot for a meal.

Art in Ubud has had a remarkable flowering in the past 100 years, thanks at least in part to expatriate artists like Walter Spies, Arie Smit and Paul Husner. For a fuller appreciation of evolving styles, I recommend not only this collection but also the Neka Museum and the Puri Lukisan Museum, but if your time is limited to only one, the Agung Rai collection has the best breadth, from some pre-colonial panels to very contemporary works. Take your time to appreciate the rich detail characteristic of these paintings.
The grounds are beautiful, there were artists at work when we visited, along with a children's dance class, and the IDR100,000 admission price includes not only an informative booklet but also a tea with a stick of cinnamon to stir it and, at least when we visited, a sweet potato and shredded coconut concoction wrapped in a banana leaf, a treat. Landscaping of the resort is impressive and relaxing, too, a peaceful place to escape the unfortunately intense touristifcation that is destroying downtown Ubud. There are also evening dance performances.

Me and my partner visited this museum and it was lovely to be away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud for a few hours. The artwork was amazing, and the grounds were beautiful. The receptionist was also very welcoming and informative and so was the lady in the little gift shop. However, our experience here was sadly tainted in the end when we decided to grab a quick drink in the restaurant. We were greeted by a waitress who spoke very little English and did not even understand the words "orange juice" and "cola"!! We honestly thought it was some kind of joke, we almost walked out until another waiter came over to assist and understood us straight away. We have never had problems with being understood and I was even pointing to what we wanted in the menu. The drinks took absolutely ages to arrive despite them being the most basic of drinks, we even saw them sat at the bar for ages while the waitresses were chatting to each other. Once we had our drinks we were left sat waiting for the bill which never came, so we had to go up to the bar and ask for it ourselves. From start to finish it took us about 30 minutes just to get a drink of orange juice and cola. Would reccommend this place but not the restaurant.
