Private Traditional Compound and Family Temple Full-Day Tour

Overview

It is an honor to invite you to a humble family compound to show you the uniqueness of a Balinese traditional compound and the family temple, as well as, sharing the stories and philosophies behind it. On your walk to the rice field, you are welcome to see and to help feed the cows, pigs, chickens, and ducks as well. The beautiful rice terraces are located in a remote place that can be accessed only by foot after crossing a Balinese organic vegetable and tropical fruit plantation. Depending on the rice growing stages, you may witness plowing, rice planting, weeding, or harvesting. If you dare, you are more than welcome to help farm the rice; otherwise, you can still enjoy the beautiful view and learn about the sophisticated traditional irrigation system of subak. This private, full-day tour is led by a guide and includes a lunch with traditional Balinese food.

What to Expect

After pickup from your hotel around 8.30am, you will then be driven directly to a local Balinese traditional house compound in a small village northwest of Ubud. In the compound you will learn about the culture and tradition that is practiced every day. Besides the compound itself, you will be taken to see the animal farm (pigs, chickens, cows, ducks, etc.). You will not only see them, but you will also help to find some food in the area and feed them. There are some pets (dogs, cats, and birds) that you may want to play with or just chill with them.

After a one-hour walk around the compound and farm, you will continue the tour to the organic vegetable and tropical fruit plantation, which is only a few minutes walk from the compound. In the plantation, there are a lot of seasonal tropical fruits (mangoes, jack fruits, mangosteen, salak, durian, rambutan, etc). You will be shown how to climb a coconut tree, pick out some, and drink the fresh coconut water while taking a break in small huts. It's really an unforgettable experience for you. Afterwards you will be shown the family rice plantation to give you a chance walk around it, see how the rice field is managed, and take some nice pictures.

For lunch you will be taken to a traditional Balinese restaurant with its typical Balinese food. The next visit is one of the famous temples in Bali called Gunung Kawi Sebatu Spring Temple (known as one of the most beautiful temple in Bali) that has not been seen by many tourists. After Gunung Kawi Spring Temple, you will head to visit another, Gunung Kawi Rocky Temple (built in the 11th century and is one of UNESCO's heritage sites).

Before driving back to your hotel, you will stop to have afternoon tea or coffee at a local plantation for your relaxation. What an amazing and beautiful day. This tour includes round trip air-conditioned return transportation, gas/fuel, admission tickets, toilet fees, driver and licensed English-speaking guide/host, a bottle of mineral water, lunch, afternoon tea/coffee, and use of traditional Balinese clothes.
