Balinese gastronomy has grown by leaps and bounds since the island welcomed its first tourists. With more than enough local eateries right and left of the famous beaches and lush inlands surrounding Ubud, a couple of master chefs have taken its upon themselves to bring cooking to the next level in Bali. A pioneer in this endeavor is Mozaic Restaurant, headed by professional chefs who would like to do nothing else but show off the finer art of cuisine. Blending local flavors with western ingredients, and vice versa, this highly educational and fun-filled workshop gives you the basic essentials to take your culinary skills up a notch.
A driver will pick you up at your resort along one of Bali’s southern beaches or in Ubud before midday. If you are staying along another beach, supplemental fees may apply. Then head to your ‘culinary battling ground’ in Ubud for an afternoon of masterful cooking.
The team, led by the head chef, welcomes you at this gastronomical palace where you will receive a complete explanation of the afternoon before being assigned to your own cooking station. During this class, the team provides hands-on assistance in the task that lays before you, executed to perfection. Receive an introduction to the basics, such as preparation and finding and learning about ingredients, and end your class by presenting your final work in front of your fellow chefs. Then give your creation a try. The team from Mozaic will give you some helpful hints for trying out your newly developed skills back home for friends and family.
This fabulous workshop ends at around 4pm. Armed with a recipe book and your apron, you will head back to your resort.
