- priscilla-mour00Great tour with lovely host!It felt like I was walking around town with a friend. Ayu took me to the best fabric shops and could explain so much, she has so much knowledge! It was a great experience and I go home with beautiful fabrics. Really enjoyed it!
- Dianne M00Textile lovers don’t miss this experience! The textile tour is so interesting. We visited a range of textile stores and learnt about traditional batik and also Contemporary batik textiles. You will have the opportunity to buy fabrics and traditional textiles at local not tourist prices and the tour can be customised to suit your interests. You will also learn the cultural significance of textiles to the Indonesian people. A fantastic experience not to be missed especially if you have a passion for all things textiles.
- JA53au00Walking Tour in Denpasar away from the usual tourist sites. We have travelled to Bali many times before visiting different locations and visited a variety of tourist sites so wanted to do something different and getting to know the culture and origins of Bali. This tour was perfect for getting to know more about Balinese ways and lifestyles in a relaxed manner by walking through the heart of Denpasar and being provided with good commentary and insight by our guide Ngurah Wijaya. I will highly recommend this for anyone wanting to dig deeper into what Bali is about, its history, culture and how locals live and shop.
- Doug M00Fantastic walk and talk tourHighly recommend this tour, Ngurah from the moment we all met was welcoming and friendly. We were guided through some pretty interesting places and learnt so much as Ngurah is a wealth of knowledge about old Denpasar’s and Bali’s rich history and explained it very well. I’d even let him know that even being to Bali many times no one had explained customs and culture so well. We felt like we had finished the tour knowing so much more. Thank you for such a great tour and for your caring nature. Will definitely be recommending this tour to friends.
- SunhoLee_060600Best tour everExplanation with details and fun. Pak Wijaya is the best guide and friend. After this tour, you can know bali more and more.
- Explorer0024026132600Highly recommended and very informative tourDespite having been to Bali many times i didn’t understand its history so was keen to find out more. Ngurah was the kind and friendly host of our walking tour and kept my daughter (17) and I entertained with stories of Denpasar’s past and current day to day life. I highly recommend this tour! Loved it.
- andreabernarte00A one-of-a-kind Bali experienceIt was thanks to a friend's recommendation that I signed up for this tour on my own. I had the most memorable time with Ngurah on the walking tour. He is very knowledgeable on Balinese history and culture and added a personal touch as we also got to talk about my country. From the beginning it was very easy to coordinate with him and Ayu before my trip and they even accommodated my request as I already needed to bring my luggage with me. The tour was not rushed at all, and at the same time I was not bored. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who would like a more meaningful stay in Bali. Definitely not your usual tourist activity!
- VS_London00Amazing! Tempe factory tour, cooking class and homestayI was particularly interested in this tour having tried Tempe (tempeh) for the first time earlier this year and wanted to learn more about how it was made at a local factory as well as cook authentic recipes. I was expecting a good tour but this exceeded my expectations! I really enjoyed the ride over with Ngurah to the Tempe factory, and was great to see the Tempe master at work and really understand the steps in how it was made. Got to ask many questions and take photos. Then back to their home for a lovely cooking experience outdoor in a shaded area of their garden. Ayu and her family are truly incredible cooks and the recipes really showcased the best of Balinese cooking which I can’t wait to recreate and show off to friends and family back home. I liked that most of the recipients included Tempe so I was able to see how versatile Tempe is! Was given my own apron and recipe book which was a lovely touch. I also stayed at their Homestay which was very convenient and great to have some more of Ayu’s cooking for breakfast! Highly recommend this option for those who are interested in staying in a local neighbourhood. Ngurah and Ayu speak perfect English and their personalities really made the Tempe factory tour, cooking class and homestay shine as one of the best experiences I did in my round-the-world trip. Was a very authentic experience and also professionally run. Well worth the money!
- mtravelwell00Denpasar city walkMy two daughters and I did a city walk with Ngurah in November 2018. It was an excellent way to get close to the "real" Denpasar. Away from the tourists, Ngurah gave us an insight into the Bali culture - it was very interesting and we learned a lot. Ngurah has a great personality, he is very knowledgeable and will answer any questions you may have. A must do to get you started for your Bali holiday! Monika, Sarah and Hannah
- Rommel L00MelVery friendly, it’s my first time in Indonesia and I learn a lot from him and he make sure we are ok going back to our hotel.
- Felixandlehmann00Awesome cooking classHad an awesome experience with that guys. The day was nothing less than amazing. They took the time to answer all of my questions and made me feel like a friend. The food was so special and yummy. Unbelievable. In case I visit Bali again I'll definitely drop in.

Easily one of the best activities to do in Bali. It's so much more than just a cooking class. I learned so much about the Balinese history and culture through this activity. Cannot thank Ayu and Ngurah enough for the experience! The food... was Devine! Learning how to make them made me appreciate it so much more.

Finally a cooking course which uses traditional Balinese recipes, is taught along with the nutritional benefits being explained to us, is practical and hands-on, and most enjoyable was eating our creations at the end (it was a taste sensation). Thankyou Ayu because now I know how tempe is made from scratch!

That was the best activity I‘ve ever done! They are so warm-hearted, which they spread out like sunshine 🌞 I immediately felt connected with them and learned a lot! Not only about the food (which was more than delicious btw!), the Tempe-making-process which is very rare to get an insight in, but also about architecture and about Balinese culture and politics. You even get your own recipes in a selfmade book! All in all a wonderful family and a day with them is worth it!

This was a great introduction to the world of Tempeh - including a visit to a tempeh-making facility nearby, and a fun and involving cooking session, making several delicious dishes incorporating this ingredient...all to be eaten afterwards [so make sure you've got space!]

Fantastic experience with knowledgeable people in a Balinese home!
Nice to visit a family run tempeh factory and hear about the production for 30mins or so. Followed by approx 3h of learning, cooking and eating delicious vegan Balinese dishes. We had one teacher and 2 assistants, and our group consisted of 4 adults and one baby. Private event. It was a hot day so it got a bit too hot for us, but there were some tasty local refreshments along the way which helped a bit.
We left with a full tummy, a receipt book and new Balinese experience. Can highly recommend, such lovely and flexible people. Thanks!
