- 1You will be picked up from your hotel in central Varanasi at 09:30 A.M. along with an English speaking guide for your two to three hour Varanasi tour by E-Rickshaw. The tour is offered to give insight into the local residential and commercial areas of the city. E-rickshaws can access parts of the city, which cars cannot enter. The tour focuses on the city’s color and chaos showcasing its unique culture. You will witness people’s daily life, their places of worship and commercial activities located in the narrow by-lanes of Varanasi. This was a highlight of our trip and our teenage son was really looking forward to this experience. We first set off to the vegetable and spice markets so learn about the foods used in our dishes and where they came from, negotiating the Jaipur traffic which was an experience in itself! We then took a short Tuk Tuk ride back to the homestay, where we cooked up dishes and then partook in a meal of our dishes. The guide had very basic English and didn’t have much to say at all. It was a long and boring day not to mention a complete rip off. The only good part is the temple. You can easily take a Uber there for very little money. I am not only disappointed but outraged at the cost.Written September 14, 2024
