About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- TrailBlazer6717670 contributionsGreat expérience! It was great, more than expected. We were just us two (the group can be up to 6 people I think, we were lucky). Nabu and Hakam are really nice and professional, and we had nice chats together, learning more about the desert. We started the journey in the jeep with stops at some sights, then camel ride until the desert point (and non touristic! we were indeed feeling alone in the desert). They cooked snacks and really good dinner and prepared our bed a bit further, under the stars with lots of blankets! We also had a really good chai and breakfast. The day after, we got back to the guesthouse and we had access to a room to get a shower.Written December 20, 2024
- gaby_richardson0 contributionsThe best!!!!!!The best experience we could have possibly wished for! Despite it not being high tourist season they did a private tour just for the two of us making it even more romantic. The guides couldn’t do enough for us and were very interesting to talk to, teaching us a lot about the Indian caste system and Rajasthan village culture. They cooked delicious authentic food for us over the campfire and brought us chai tea in bed for sunrise. Couldn’t recommend enough!Written November 7, 2024
- Venture650599588300 contributions“Under the Stars: A Magical Desert Experience at Wanderlust Hotel”“Wanderlust Hotel provides a truly unique Jaisalmer experience with its open-sky stay under the stars. The camel ride through the golden sand dunes is magical, offering breathtaking views of the desert landscape. Afterward, relaxing on the terrace with a traditional Rajasthani dinner and a sky full of stars creates an unforgettable ambiance. The staff’s warmth and attention to detail make this a must-visit for those seeking an authentic desert adventure with a touch of luxury!”Written November 3, 2024
- Ceramician0 contributionsAuthentic and unforgettable experience for family with 4 kidsThe most unforgettable experience for our family of 2 adults and 4 children (5, 7, 10, 12). We arranged everything on WhatsApp and made sure the kids could be accommodated with non spicy food. Communication was super easy and flexible. Nabu picked us up in a jeep and drove us to see a deserted fort and then to the desert where the cameleers met us with 5 camels. When we arrived at camp, Nabu was already preparing hot masala chai and dinner. We chatted with Nabu and the cameleers who pitched in to get everything ready while the kids played in the dunes. Dinner was so delicious with everything made from scratch. The kids gobbled it up and even got seconds and thirds. It got pretty cold at night but we were cozy and warm under thick blankets with clean sheets. We saw the most stars we’ve ever seen in our lives. What an amazing experience that will stay with us forever. These guys are real professionals while able to retain authentic Rajasthani hospitality.Written January 17, 2024
- suggs19650 contributionsGreat experience: recommendWhat an experience!! Sambhu and Abeh were amazing guides. Knowledgeable, friendly and funny with excellent English. Camels were interesting and very well cared for - would recommend a good groin stretch in the days before! Camp lunch and dinner were some of the best meals we’ve eaten. Camping was cold but worth it for the star gazing. Overall, very enjoyable and a great experience.Written January 13, 2024
- johanness5980 contributionsFinally some nature and tranquilityI was at first a little hesitant about the camel riding part but in the end im glad i did it. Being in the nature under the open sky with a fire was a wonderful experience. Also you can just walk off you want. Our guide Nabu was a cool and very sympathetic person. Food was plenty and good, even a cold drink in the evening was available. Very much recommended!Written December 8, 2023
- jonaswW5986TC0 contributionsGreat brief insight in "desert life"Great experience! Met nice folks, in an extremely relaxing environment. We were really hesitant as the whole idea of a camel Safari sounds very touristy... However, it didn't feel overly touristy and it was also perfectly ok to just walk instead of sitting on a camel (e.g in case you don't need animals for your entertainment). Talking to the guides by the bonfire was definitely the best part. In short: glad I did it.Written November 21, 2023
- max11gen0 contributionsPerfect desert safari with amazing meal and very nice peopleWe had an amazing trip. Everyone involved was super nice and did their job very good. Our camel ride guide, shambu, as well as the drover, nabu, were making this experience exceptioal and did everything to make us feel good and welcome. At nightthey cooked us a full meal where everything was hand made in front of our eyes and cooked on fire. Afterwards we enjoyed the best night sky I habe seen in my life while drinking a cold beer. Perfect trip, thanks to shambu and nabu!Written October 15, 2023
- K4186UEdaniels0 contributionsThe bestThere are a lot of companies offering Camel Safari and desert trips in Jaisalmer. We did our research and chose Wanderlust because of the amazing reviews and I’m glad we did. We were picked up in our hotel in a comfortable clean truck, our group was small just 4 in total. Our guides were very helpful and the guesthouse even let us store our luggage, take showers, and stay in the hotel when we returned even though we weren’t guests there. 5 star providerWritten October 15, 2023

- Explore541072999800 contributionsAmazing “back to nature”- experienceThe desert safari was amazing. We decided not to ride the camels, but we got offered a ride on top the jeep instead, which was a unique experience as well! Nabhu Khan Made is a warm and friendly person who made sure that we had everything we needed. The location of the sleeping spot is completely private, you are in the middle of the nature, much recommended!Written August 6, 2023
- jilzeidler0 contributionsAmazing Experience off the beaten track!I booked a tour with Padam in 2017 and had such a great experience so I came back in 2023. Me and some friends booked a full day tour (highly recommend starting in the morning!) and Padam organized everything quickly and easily. We had breakfast in town and got driven into the desert where we met Sawai with the camels. I also got to ride the same camel as 6 years ago!! We were completely alone the whole time, also at night we had our own remote spot away from anyone else. The food our guides cooked was awesome, there was plenty of drinking water and the best part was milking a goat on the way for our Masala Chai! Spending the night under the full moon was simply perfect! I would definitely recommend booking with Padam and would go again any time! Great people and very non-touristic. Thank you so much Padam!Written May 5, 2023

The night sky with full moon and stars was amazing and we slept under watching the stars!! Amazing experience!! night we had so much of talks with staffs and the co-touristers, They prepared us a tasty dinner and a nice breakfast too, and the morning sunrise was also good to watch, it was definitely a unforgettable experience must visit once in a lifetime Thank you Wanderlust Camel Safari team for given us a wonderful camping at the dunes❤️😊Written April 19, 2023

I spent one night last week in the Thar Desert, organised by Wanderlust Guesthouse 🏜
You head there on camel or by jeep.
You watch the sunset over the dunes, are cooked a delicious meal by your guides and sit round a fire chatting until your eyes start to drop. Then get into your open air camp bed and gaze up at the stars!
If you’re super lucky you’ll see a shooting star or two. I saw one. It was a new moon night and so far away from a city there was no light pollution!
You wake up to the sound of birds chirping away and have chai in bed! Jaisalmer is as far west of India as you get so it’s one of the last places to get sunrise. It was really a magical experience.
We are so lucky and blessed to have this beautiful land, let’s treat it that way.
Thank you to The Wanderlust Guest House and the team of guides for arranging this great adventure! I would do it again!

I took my parents for this overnight non touristic safari and they were thrilled with the whole experience. Padam ji took us for the jeep drive and shambhu joined us later with the camels. They quickly collected woods for the bonfire and made delicious snacks/tea at sunset. They were extremely warm to us.Proper beds were made and blankets given to keep us cozy. Dinner was served under the stars and it became pitch dark at night. It was commendable on their part to cook for us. The blankets and the bedsheets were white and squeaky clean. Food served was fresh and delicious. In the morning we came back in the Jeep and the ride was comfortable. A big thank you to Padam ji and his team for making it an experience to remember. We Stayed back at his guest house after coming back from the safari.

I stayed at the Wanderlust Guest House in Jaisalmer, which I would also recommend, where I was originally just planning on looking around the city for a couple of days and not heading into the desert. However, the desert safari seemed like such good value that it seemed silly not to do it, and I am very glad I did.
Unlike a lot of the pictures of such experiences that you see, there was no other tourists about on our route. The whole experience was both very friendly and very professional. All food, drink and bedding was provided. Plenty of food too; snacks, fruit, main evening meal, a big breakfast following day.
We stopped at a few sites en route, such as an oasis and a ruined fort, which was cool, and broke up the journey. The camel riders were very friendly, cooked us good food, and told us stories, sang some traditional songs for us and even danced with us around the campfire.
Sleeping under the stars was a great experience, every time you wake up in the night, being greeted with an amazing star-studded sky. I was concerned that I might be too cold at night, having not come prepared, but I was offered plenty of bedding to keep me warm.
All in all, I would highly recommend, and I really can't think of anything negative to say about it.

We were picked up at 6:30am at the wanderlust guesthouse to view the sunrise from a nice viewpoint with some freshly made chai and a little breakfast. After, we started the camel safari with a super friendly and enthousiastic local guide who also cooked a delicious meal for us. After resting a bit in the shade, since it was suuper hot, we continued the camel ride to go to our camping spot. The camping spot was in a private sand dune, ensuring peace and quiet in the beautiful nature. Here we had another super tasty dinner with some snacks as a starter. In the night we sat around the campfire with Padam, the host, and the local guides, sharing some stories and some beers.
All in all it was an amazing experience to ride the camels, eat the local food, listen to some local music and sleep in a beautiful sanddune beneath the stars. The beds and blankets that are provided are good quality and you will lack nothing during your entire trip.
I highly recommend to take the trip and share some talks with the host Padam, very interesting and super friendly guy. Can't stress this enough!

We absolutely adored our experience in the desert with our guide Sambhu, he was very dedicated. We were only two with one guide and we really appreciated being separated from the beginning from another group of 8 people. We did a whole day camel ride, followed by a night in the desert under the stars. Everything was wonderful. The meals were cooked in front of us, on a fire, the water was supplied by Sambhu, and overnight we were very comfortable on beds with massive blankets to keep us warm overnight. We didn’t see any tourist whatsoever, it was very silent and the views were spectacular. We had long and deep discussions about the culture and social aspects of life in the desert with our guide, which really helped us understand the people from Rajasthan. Furthermore, Sambhu was taking excellent care of his camels, you could see the attachment between them. Overall, we strongly recommend this company to everyone wishing to have a unforgettable experience in the desert!

In unimaginable scenery landscape, we had an utmost pleasant and inspiring trip through the desert of Jaisalmer. On top of excellently trained and kind camels, we ride through sand dunes and bushy dessert environment, guided by a local Indian camel driver with loads of stories to tell. We started early in the morning, with a cup of chai, and escaped the big heat at noon by laying under a couple of trees. After another afternoon ride, under the boiling sun, we arrived at our sleeping place, just in time to see the sun set in the nearby sand dune. After heaving diner and very interesting talks about the Indian culture, we went to bed with nothing more than a bed, a warm blanket and thousands of stars surrounding the full moon against the dark colour of the night sky. I would fully reccomend this trip to anyone who is in for some adventure. Especially because of the good care we got throughout our trip by Padam and the rest of the crew

This night has been one of the highlights of our month in Rajasthan. Where to start? Organisation provided by Padam was unpeccable: totally hustle-free.
We departed with the jeep straight from the hotel, and after maybe an hour of jeep safari (seeing all kinds of fascinating things from wild animals to small lost villages) we arrive to the camel spot. Here we left Nabu to go to the camel safari with Shambu. Another amazing experience, the camels looked very well looked after, thing that doesn’t seem to happen all the time around the area.
When we arrived to the “camp” more magic starts.
You are just in the middle and of nothing but with everything you need thanks to the guys and their organisation. They provided amazing food and information, all while being friendly, not harassing, making everything in the best way I can think of. We got
Beds set up on the dunes, under the stars.
It has really been a once in a life time experience and we cannot thank Sambhu and Nabu enough.
My only recommendation is: you must go!
I didn’t mention the price, which is totally worth and eccellente value for money: and it actually felt almost too cheap for the experience we had.
Unlike many experiences in India where you get approached and you feel like they just to get as much money as they can from you, here we can say we met actual amazing people which I can call friend.

It was a fantastic journey. We were picked up directly from the bus station and at every part of the trip we enjoin the company of our guide and cook. The night sky was amazing and the dunes allowed us to take beautiful pictures.
I absolutely recommend this trip for people that like to be in close touch with nature!

It was a mesmerizing experience of my life, and I would suggest one should experience once in their lifetime. Starting from the journey in open jeep followed by camel riding with serene sunset in desert complemented each other. The food and staying arrangements prepared by the team was much better than my expectations. There was a little boy named chotu his cute nature and simple behavior added a special feather in the cap, I will be highly obliged if I can do something for him, due to lack of time I was not able to take all his details.

We were really excited to go on the overnight desert Safari. The organisation of the night was well run and we really enjoyed ourselves. The guides were really friendly.
The only part of the trip we are unsure about is the camel riding and how ethical it is. We can't help but feel sad for the camels when they're pulled by rope from their noses and then are let free to roam overnight but with a tie around their legs... However we are glad to hear that the selling of camels elsewhere has recently stopped, which is a step in the right direction I suppose.
Arriving at the campsite was amazing and we had a lovely dinner and breakfast cooked by the friendly Gudu. We watched the sunset which was stunning and we slept under the stars in our own little area which made us feel like the only people in the desert.
If we were to do this again, we definitely would skip the camel riding, and would prefer to go directly to the camp in a 4x4 jeep instead.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you so much for your time and Reviews.
Our camel is well taken care of, in the night we leave them free to roam and eat and relax, why we tie legs, as you seen they can walk fast, in 12 hrs they can go 40/50 KM,
We need back so we go in the morning and find foot steps and take back to home.
Highly appreciated your words and time.
