Itinerary
- 1You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Karni Mata Temple that is about 20 miles from Bikaner. Upon arrival visit the temple along with your local guide. The temple is dedicated to Karni Mata - an incarnation of Goddess Durga. Legend has it that the son of Karni Mata drowned in a pond of water while attempting to drink from it. Karni Mata prayed to the God of Death, Yama, to revive her son. At first Yama refused but relented later and granted a boon to Karni Mata that all her sons would be reincarnated as rats. Eating food that has been nibbled by these rats is considered to be a great honor. The Temple has huge silver gates and marble carvings that were donated by Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner. Spend some time at the temple and if you are lucky you may even spot a white rat, considered to be a special blessing. At the end of the visit, you will be driven back to Bikaner and dropped off at your hotel.

- Quest344957458810 contributionsWell worth it!We partook in the evening cookery class with Mr Singh and his chef. This was a highlight of our trip and our teenage son was really looking forward to this experience. We first set off to the vegetable and spice markets so learn about the foods used in our dishes and where they came from, negotiating the Jaipur traffic which was an experience in itself! We then took a short Tuk Tuk ride back to the homestay, where we cooked up dishes and then partook in a meal of our dishes. This was a really insightful and pleasant evening which we enjoyed immensely.Written November 25, 2024

- barbaracM7649DZ0 contributionsScam! This tour is grossly overpriced and I am requesting a partial refund. The mangrove is nothing but a tourist trap with no wildlife and polluted water. The guide had very basic English and didn’t have much to say at all. It was a long and boring day not to mention a complete rip off. The only good part is the temple. You can easily take a Uber there for very little money. I am not only disappointed but outraged at the cost.Written September 14, 2024

- Joel C0 contributionsDont go Dont tryA restaurant this size and bigger expectations fails on most counts Lets start with their reservations well the take pride in no reservation, but the truth is there are special people seated who have had a backdoor reservation I get a corner sest after a 30 min wait, and boy, i realise the absolute doldrums that the cleanliness is in. My upholstery was dirty, and so were the surrounding walls floor. Ehh I ordered the lamb kebab, the chick tandoori, their acclaimed bukhare dal, and some breaks. The lamb was a disaster. Never eaten something so bad. It was like beaten black and blue and yet left uncooked. The chicken was dry chewy flavourless. The dal was very avaerage and lacked any punch. The staff is courteous though doling out these dished in batches and quickly. Even a catering food would be better. Never again and wudnt even advise a try.Written August 17, 2024

I recently visited Karni mata temple and my experience was very nice. Temple is very beautiful, peaceful environment.
As I enter inside the temple, I saw numerous rats inside the mandir. When we entered inside the gate, there were lots of vendors who force you to park your vehicle outside there shop, instead of that parking is available opposite of the shops, near the temple.
Opposite of karni mata temple there is karni mata museum where you can visit and see some photographs related to the life of karni mata.
