Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:

- julianaroman0 contributionsExcellent care and good serviceAs this was my first time to Iringa, i had no idea of the place, i contacted some of my friends and they recommended Tatanca safaris, i visited the office and met Christian a very informative guy! any traveler would love to hear about the way he speaks of safari to ruaha, we came to a conclusion and with reasonable price i was able to go to ruaha, i cant really recall my guides name but he was so good on the road and information about wildlife, the vehicles are good and comfortable for safari! i really recommend this company if you are about to visit iriga and ruaha!!Written October 14, 2020
- chrispC2489CX0 contributionsExcellent drivers and guides. We actually used this company twice. Firstly, our tour into Ruaha, secondly to take us from Iringa to Zanzibar. Both of our driver/guides were exceptional. So helpful, careful and knowledgeable. It was rainy season, so the non paved roads were a challenge, but well driven. Both vehicles were a bit “tired”, especially in the front seat, where the engine heat blows onto your feet and it got really hot (to the point of being uncomfortable). What a bonus though, to be able to stand up and look at game with the roof raised. All in all, a wonderful experience and I would definitely use them again. We found game and got close.Written January 17, 2020
- Gohilc19640 contributionsA really great trip to Ruaha. Excellent guide well worth the money. We were a total of seven adults visiting Ruaha. Driver arrived on time in a big 4 wheel drive car built for the tough road. He made all the booking in nice and easy only took a few minutes, then we were in the park. The driver had a good knowledge of the wildlife and where to go. He spotted lots of animals for us and allowed us to take lots of pictures we were not hurried at all. Thank you for an excellent trip.Written October 3, 2019
- Zee T0 contributionsMixed feelings about the trip with this organisationWe hired a car with a tour driver to go to Ruaha. We went as a family with little kids. The driver was excellent, spoke really good English and was very knowledgable. Unfortunately the car was a different story altogether. It was old with no AC and the fine sand came creeping in fast on the dusty roads. We had a couple of people of people who were asthmatic so had to swop places and go in our private car. On the way in the park, the car wheel flew off. Thankfully we were 2 cars so there was safety in numbers. Not sure if here is maintenance being carried out regularly on the cars. I would be reluctant to go in their cars again.Written July 25, 2018
- starbuck9140 contributionsWonderful driverWe had the pleasure of spending 10 days with Michael, our Tatanca Safari & Tours, driver. He drove us 4 American ladies around and always answered all of our questions with a hearty laugh and a big smile. He spoke English very well and helped us learn so much about Tanzania. He was willing to share anything about his country and himself to help us better know the country. He put up with a lot of "crappola" from one of us, who might have gotten on someone else's nerves, but Michael just smiled all the time. He was very knowledgeable about the Ruaha National Park, having worked there for 7 years, and was our guide during our 2 days there. The vehicle was dependable for the entire trip, although he did have to do one little electrical fix one day, but we were on our way in minutes. He said he had a background of being a mechanic before becoming a driver. Good to have your own mechanic with you when you're driving through the middle of Tanzania! We had many schedule and route changes and he went cheerfully along with all of them, even when it meant backtracking several hours on one day. He was friendly but always professional making sure we were always buckled up before getting on the road. We always felt very safe with Michael driving, even on the curviest mountain roads and busiest streets in the cities. I would highly recommend this company and especially, Michael!Written October 27, 2017
- Shannon S0 contributionsThe actual safari was fabulous!I booked with Tatanca by going to their office and talking to the main manager; she gave me a price breakdown and took my information in case other people contacted her (I'm a solo traveler and wanted to join a group). Luckily, two other women wanted to do a day safari; it wasn't what I wanted, but it ended up being great because two *more* people joined, which made the day super cheap! We saw SO many animals, and the guide / driver could not have been better. Michael, our guide, had been driving for seven years and really knew his stuff. He was kind and patient and answered all of our questions! Tatanca is a budget safari - they didn't provide any food or water, but you can get that stuff from local restaurants and supermarkets before going. The reason I'm giving them a four instead of a five is because of what consider to be a shady business practice. The manager asked me for $35 for the park fee in cash and then had the driver pay with a credit card. When I got to the park (and my fault for not checking beforehand), I noticed that the park fee is only $30. I guess she could have been charging for a credit card processing fee, but I don't know *any* credit card that charges 16%. I would insist on paying both the park fee and the accommodation fee at the park in person. That being said - the safari itself was brilliant and a great value, especially with a group!Written March 4, 2017
- Stephen B0 contributionsSafari adventure to RuahaWe booked with Tatanca Safaris at the last minute following a recommendation from a friend. They provided a bespoke safari from Iringa to Ruaha National Park for 3 days, 2 nights. The driver/guide was very professional, helpful and knowledgeable. The company booked our accommodation, and even bought and delivered bus tickets for our onward journey to Dar es Salaam.Written December 22, 2016
- Giulio V0 contributionsGreat safari travel angency in Iringa!Great safari and travel agency. Faith, the desk girl, was very nice and friendly and she organized for us a good safari in Ruaha Park. Michael, our safari guide, was very gentle, patient and well informed about animals life and places where to see them better. He was ready to satisfy every request about places and animal we wanted to see. More, we pay a very cheap fare for the two days trip in Ruaha. RecommendedWritten August 29, 2015
- Sarah F0 contributionsVery professional, helpful and good attention to detailWe used Tatanca Safari's for our trip to Ruaha National Park. The lady who we organised the tour with was so obliging, we had to re-arrange our date several times and she was more than happy to help. She was able to book accommodation for us in Iringa for the night, collecting us from the bus station with a very warm welcome and dropping us at the hotel. She then sent someone to collect us in the morning and drive us to Ruaha. The private car was comfortable and air conditioned. We were then introduced to our tour guide who was knowledgeable and really interested in teaching us (we found this quite rare compared to other guides we had elsewhere). We wanted to stay in the Government Banda's but they were unfortunately fully booked so had to stay in the Ruaha Hill Top Lodge which looked beautiful but was quite average in many other respects. Tantanca pre-paid everything for us so that all we had to pay for was drinks and tips. The price was increased due to us having to stay in the Hill top Lodge but still reasonable compared to other tour companies in the are. I highly recommend Tatanca, their staff are a credit to them!Written July 19, 2015
- MamaKeranen0 contributionsGreat Safari Experience on a BudgetTantanca Safari & Tours gave us a very satisfying 24-hour safari experience at Ruaha National Park. Our safari driver, Isa (spelling?), was incredibly knowledgeable and was certainly responsible for our ability to see as much wildlife as we did in a very short time period. We saw seven lions, including lions mating and a a lion kill of a crocodile, beautiful herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, the Greater Kudu, antelope, baboons, silver-backed fox, and even a leopard. The list goes on and on. I know I am missing many animals. There were too many birds to list. Isa not only knew where to find the animals, but he had a wealth of knowledge about each species. Isa also helped us find a very nice place for lunch after our safari. As a guide he is outstanding. This is a great budget safari company. One drawback is the safari car. It's a long trek into Ruaha and not all of the seats had cushions. If the car was a bit more comfortable Tantaca would have gotten 5 stars. In the meantime, throw some cushions in your backpack and enjoy the ride.Written March 17, 2015
- freiland0 contributionsDaytrip to Ruaha NP from IringaBeing on a business trip in Iringa, we spontaneously decided to book a day-trip to Ruaha and walked right in Iringa office of Tatanca Safari & Tours. There we were warmly welcomed, well informed about our options for a day-trip to Ruaha NP incl. Chief M´kwawa Museum in Kalenga. We booked on the spot and were picked up perfectly on time the next morning at 6 am at our hostel in Iringa by our driver-guide. He made our day, drove safe, answered all our questions, found all the animals to see at this time of the year in Ruaha NP. We enjoyed a pleasant time and were absolutely happy with Tatanca´s services which we highly recommend to everybody looking for a great experience in Iringa.Written March 16, 2015
- Dominik M0 contributionsGreat Safari in Ruaha! We had a great safari to Ruaha national Park with Tatanca. Really appreciated the very helpful staff in the office and experienced and friendly guide/driver. Overall had a brilliant experience, saw loads of fantastic animals, car was good, good value, accommodating- tailored our trip to what we wanted and able to organize at last minute. We stayed in the government Bandas which were inside the park which were basic but great for the safari and very good value and a bonus to stay inside the park, but you can stay wherever depending on your budget. Food also in the park was fine. Would highly recommend this organisation. Thank you for our great safari! DMWritten March 3, 2015
