What to expect
Set out from Bangalore city at 7am. First, visit the Ramanagara silk cocoon market and stop for some traditional South Indian/Karnataka coffee and a snack at the popular Kamat Lokaruchi restaurant (at own expense). Continue on Mysore road: Drive through toy town Channapatna, where traditional Indian toys are made, and through Mandya, where sugarcane fields feed the sugar industry. Visit a traditional Indian village and observe lifestyles of the locals. After, enjoy lunch at a little restaurant by the river (at own expense). Tour the historic town of Shrirangapattana, 12.5 miles (20 kilometers) outside Mysore. The entire town is enclosed by the river Kaveri to form an island. Visit the revered Sri Ranganthaswamy temple built in the ninth century — which serves as a major pilgrimage site in South India — along with other historical monuments. Before 4pm, visit the main Mysore Palace, including some areas that are not open to the general public.  If time allows, visit Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary on the bank of the river Kaveri. Take a boat tour and see marsh crocodiles, otters, and Indian water birds. IF AVAILABLE (we will need to check availability): Enjoy dinner at the home of erstwhile royal family of Mysore before heading back to your hotel in Bangalore, arriving at around 10pm. Other attractions that may be included in Mysore if time allows, including a visit the Mysore flower and bangle market, and a trip to Jaganmpohan Palace and Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery.

Culture Rings always exceeds my high expectations!
Feb 2019
I live as an expat in Bangalore and wanted to get out of the weekend, so I booked a 2 days Mysore Tour with Culture Rings. It was absolutely lovely! I have used Culture Rings a few times before and they really know how to create experiences and memory for life. This trip was like that. Despite there is a bit of drive to Mysore the program was well plan to not feel that. A stop at a local village to see their life and interact with them, and a boat ride with crocodiles was such things. (Culture Rings customize their program and are also flexible on the go. I chose to go for the crocodile boat ride when visiting the neighboring activity – the bird sanctuary.)

In Mysore, more than the palace (that is of course impressive and beats the Bangalore palace many times 😊), it was the dinner with the royal family that was the most excited. To hear the story about the royal family and understand their life today was amazing.

If you want to explore mysore I would Strongly recommend Culture Rings!

Magnificent Mysore Palace
Sep 2018
The journey from Bangalore to Mysore is actually long and tiring due to the usual slow, congested, messy and bad road condition - anyway, I guess this the norm in overall India.
The Mysore Palace is truly a beauty with rich architecture, history, culture and beautiful and magnificent structures!
