Fun little stop with a huge gift shop and of course the giant pistachio
We had already purchased a bundle of gifts from their other store closer to town. We picked up a few more novelties but basically stopped to get a photo of the giant pistachio. There is a great variety of pistachio and New Mexico souvenirs available. Staff were terrific and the store was very clean.

PistachioLand is Always Worth a Stop
You will start seeing the signs for PistachioLand as soon as you hit the New Mexico border (and maybe before). It's like the Wall Drug of NM. This was our second time to Pistachio land. The largest pistachio nut is worth the detour just for the photo ops. The store is loaded with pistachio products as well as many other types of souvenirs from t-shirts to wine (tasting available for adults). There is a separate ice cream shop where you can get pistachio flavored ice cream along with other items. There is free off-street parking and tables for outdoor seating. They have clean restrooms. You can actually get tours of the pistachio farm on a tourist bus. It is definitely worth a stop if you are going past and maybe worth a detour if it is not on your travel plans.

      It's worth the gimmick stop
If you ever wanted to see the world's largest pistachio, then this is the right place. There are plenty of samples and pistachio items to enjoy the visit. It is unique enough for a stop if you are in the area.

      Girls’ Tdip
We stopped at the country store on a girls wine trip. Lori is Fantastic!! The wine was great but her hospitality made our stop memorable. We walked out with 2 bottles of wine each. We will definitely stop again.

Great souvenirs and super fun road side stop
We were passing by on the way to Santa Fe and HAD to stop here. Besides the fun giant pistachio there’s tons of great souvenirs and snacks inside. We grabbed a few items and were so happy to have been driving by!

      Touristy fun
This place is large and offers a lot of souvenir shopping. There is a large selection of flavored pistachios. We sampled the wines and were not impressed, they are average. Taking a photo of the largest pistachio was fun.

Guided tour was great; if you get Matt tell him hi for me. Learned a lot about the farm. Wonderful selection of flavored pistachios as well.

Surprised at how much we enjoyed it!
This was a last minute decision after arriving in Alamogordo to visit White Sands. I don’t even like pistachios, so I wasn’t super jazzed. It wound up being fun and interesting. Our tour guide (Matt, I think) was enthusiastic and informative. They had a TON of different flavors of pistachios that you could sample and we picked up a bunch for souvenirs and stocking stuffers. They had a giant gift shop that was fun to browse. My husband tells me the pistachio ice cream was fantastic and it was a very generous serving. All in all, worth the time for a really enjoyable stop.

2nd Best to Heart of the Desert
We ACCIDENTALLY went to the pistachio place BEFORE the BIG pistachio. We thought we’d politely look at what they had, and be on our way, but if you only want pistachios or wine this is a better choice for friendly service. The BIG pistachio place was perfect for all tourists. I got an alien T-shirt for my son, instead of going to Roswell , and a great magnet. No sales people on the floor, pistachio ice cream, or a paid tour. Not needed at Heart of the Desert. She took me to the orchard, and I ate off the tree. They’re just 1/4 mile from each other. Both are great, but our mistake to go to Heart of the Desert 1st. Which was what we we’re really looking for.

Fun experience! Our tour guide, Tara, was amazing ! I bought pistachio fudge and decorations for my house. I'll be back to try the ice cream! This is my second visit in four years!

      Fun place to stop
Great gift shop and very good ice cream. Really amazing variety of flavored pistachios, hot sauce, candy, souvenirs, you name it. The staff there were all extremely pleasant. Long line for ice cream outside, but well worth the wait. I regret that we didn't have the time to take part in one of the tours of the farm.

      Pistachio visit and trolley ride
We went on the trolley tour. We had Matt as our tour guide very informative. Told us of the history and how the pistachios statue came about. We also stopped and had some ice cream, it was very good. Also tried the different flavors of pistachios and also brought some for home.

      Great Stop and Tour !!
Great Stop and Tour !! We are on a long vacation in NM and headed to our southern stops. My husband and I both enjoyed the homemade pistachios ice cream (yes there are some blue bell flavors but not this one and a few others). We did the wine tastings and tasted 4, they were OK. Too long waiting and then pushing one I previously said I didn’t like, made me back off. I’m sure some will like them. We just weren’t crazy about those we tried. The store itself is huge with lots of items & free pistachio samples. They have a few types to try. We did buy a couple of bags. The Tour with James was great and very informative. We toured the grapevines and pistachio trees and learned. Recommend to any one there to take the tour. It’s also very inexpensive. My husband and I both enjoy our stop here.

This was our first stop during our family trip to travel across New Mexico and Arizona. We found the tour to be very interesting and learned a lot about how pistachios grow and are harvested. The tour is very inexpensive and we highly recommend you take the time to learn about the farm.

Coming from the west, go past the first entrance and head to the 30 foot statue of the world’s largest pistachio! The $5pp tour was excellent. Emilio was our guide on an electric cart through the nut orchard and vineyards. He was knowledgeable and spoke loudly enough (with enthusiasm) for everyone to hear.
Pistachios in the store seemed exorbitantly priced ($16 pound). Pistachio ice cream for $4.25/cup.

Emilio is a great guide! We're so glad to know that he made it fun...a bit puzzled by the nut price as we sell 1 lb for $13.75 and the cup of ice cream is for 2 scoops...we do hand craft our products though and it may seem high compared to Planters, etc... We are glad you stopped and had a great experience!

We come here every time we visit Alamogordo. Unfortunately due to Covid there was no samples. The gift shop is much larger than our last visit. You can buy all kids of southwestern goodies. They also sell baskets that I have sent for Christmas presents. We did the wine tasting and bought a bottle of pomegranate wine. They have a Koi pond and ice cream parlor. The tour was fun and very informative. I would not buy tickets on line, it half as much to buy them at the store. We arrived at 3, bought tickets for the 4:00 tour right away and then did our shopping and wine tasting. I think the tour was about 30 min definitely worth the $2 ticket. The giant pistachio is a unique photo op!

Thank you so much for visiting! Yes, there are a few things we have had to halt due to COVID; however, there are great photo ops, the tour, and many delicious pistachios, candies, and wines that we make on-site ourselves. The gift baskets we sell are also 15% through Christmas, so stock up online at PistachioLand.com. We look forward to seeing you again!

We stopped by Pistachioland while on our way to White Sands National Park and stocked up on pistachios, salsas and jellies, and then heard the announcement for the tour which runs every hour on the hour. It was cold out, but we signed up and had a great time. Our tour guide Tara really knows the work that goes on at McGinn’s Pistachioland and told us the history and how everything runs as she drove us through the wine vineyards and the pistachio orchard. She presented everything with so much personality and humor, we felt like we were old friends. We hope to come back during blooming and harvest seasons in the future.

The Pistachio Land business and the giant pistachio at the highway are all tourist attractions. But the farm tour is seriously interesting. It takes about an hour. We paid $3 apiece for the tickets. Our guide was great. Our grandchildren, ages 7 and 9, really enjoyed the tour.
Heads up - There is only one tour per hour on the hour, The tour cart only holds 20 visitors. The tickets can sell out quickly. So check on ticket availability before you spend time eating ice cream or shopping in the gift store.

We learned so many interesting things about pistachio trees and grape vines on the tour. I wish I could remember the young lady’s name, but she did an excellent job of explaining the many aspects of growing and harvesting nuts and grapes in Alamogordo. I highly recommend this trip, and it’s SO worth the $3. We also enjoyed the wonderful gift store and we bought lots of pistachios to share with friends.

Great tour of the working farm with Garrett as our guide. He spoke loud and clear to ensure everyone could hear the story(s). Learned about a drought in 2011, the generosity of a pomegranate farmer. Discovered why pistachios had a tough time growing in this New Mexico area, until university researchers figured out a way to graft the trees. The farm ride was $3.00 pp and took about 20-25 minutes. We had plenty of room on the EV “tram” cart that took us around on a gravel road. We talked with the 2nd generation owner of the farm who was out on his 4x4 checking the watering system with the grapevines (yes they also make wine here). And planting center row seeds to assist with the enrichment of the soil. The gift store was huge, and had tons of free samples of pistachio foods, like brittle and seasoned pistachios (lemon/lime, chocolate, honey and garlic, salt, etc.). There was also a wine tasting area. There was also a ton of bigfoot souvenirs there for some reason. Parking was free, there were two portable bathrooms outside, not sure about inside. DO try the pistachio ice cream while you are there! TY NM

Visit the store for free wine and pistachio tasting and buy their own , in house made, pistachio ice cream. It's yummie .
Take the tour. It's worth it. Tour guide James is a very nutty guy and with a free informative tour he gave us a free comedy show as well. We enjoyed our visit.

This was a fun stop after the White Sands! We started with a tour and our guide Katie was both knowledgeable and entertaining. It was fascinating learning about the grafting process and the meaning behind the installation of the giant pistachio sculpture. Wine tasting with Matt was educational and both couples purchased bottles of the Pistachio wine. After sampling the various options we each landed on our favorite. Mine was plain roasted & salted and my husband loved the pistachio brittle. Our luggage is several pounds heavier due to the numerous purchases

Our tour guide Emilio was fabulous! He gave a fact filled, but fun tour and we had a great time learning while riding around the farm. The fact that we were eating pistachio ice cream at the same time made it even more fun.
The shop itself was crowded with lots of cheap souvenirs and employees that just wanted to leave for the day. I would make my purchases elsewhere, but definitely take the riding tour with Emilio!

Thank you! It sounds like a great experience on our farm tour. We really enjoy making our own products, including our pistachio ice cream and we're glad you enjoyed it. There is certainly a vast amount of merchandise inside of our country store, and much of it is because our visitors want variety! We have many gourmet foods, souvenirs, apparel and our delicious farm-made goodies. Let me know about the experience with employees inside...contact me at my personal email: pistachiosandwine@hotmail.com. I would like to know more about the comment you made. Thank you for visiting!
