Itinerary
- 1We will visit a weavers colony where the Ikkat style of weaving is followed. The weavers use cotton, silk and sico, which is a mix of silk and cotton. Ikat represents a weaving form wherein the warp, weft and even both are tie-dyed before they are weaved to create any designs on the finished fabric. It will be a fascinating experience to see the Ikkat technique being applied to pattern textiles by employing resist dyeing and binding of weaves and yarns into a beautiful pattern A discovery was made at the 7the Century world heritage site of Ajanta and Ellora caves near Aurangabad. Some of the sculptures who figures wearing garments with Ikkat patterns! So Ikkat has been in India for atleast 1500 years now and is still staying relevant with its unique designs.

- lizpR9345XR0 contributionsFirst rate tour guides and experiencesI completed two one day tours of Hyderabad with Five Senses. I chose Five Senses, as I had a brilliant experience with this company in Chennai last year. The guides are very knowledgeable and of a very high calibre. They ensured that the tour included all that I wanted to see and went out of their way to widen the experience, in terms of shopping or sights, as I required. There were nice little touches such as offering hand wipes after visiting the sites. I will definitely use this company again.Written December 4, 2024
- Happiness121841245580 contributionsHyderabad of minarets, pearls and candy flossMany thanks to John who is an amazing guide and managed to lead our small group despite our uncertainties about the starting point. Hyderabad has got a rich history, buildings of architectural relevance, a diverse population so having a local guide was helful and insightful. The coffee at the Charminar square will stay in my memoriesfor long! See you again Hyderabad, you are a mesmerizing city!Written November 27, 2024
- erikh8390 contributionsHyderabad old city tourMy guide was John, a very friendly and good guide. I booked on Friday, after which i understood from John that the Chowmahalla palace is closed, and neither could we enter the Masjid mosque as I was wearing shorts. These 2 points were not clear or mentioned on the tour description. Still John adapted the tour showing the Charminar, providing a lot of historic explanation and going to the bazaars around Charminar. We went off the beaten path to see Badshahi Ashoor Khana, which is a place of mourning, and has unique tiles on the wall. I did enjoy the tour, although different than initial expectations, but it was good. Thanks Erik.Written November 20, 2024
