About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- elik1660 contributionsGalapagos BK ToursWe booked all our galapagos excursions through BK tours. We spend 4 days in Santa Cruz Island last February. Eduardo was amazing. So quick answering messages and so patient with all our very many questions making sure we had the perfect itinerary and fit in as much as possible into the short time we were there! We booked our trip late and we were there over carnival season. Noone else could find us availability for the tours we wanted to do the days we wanted but Eduardo managed! We had the most incredible perfect experience and 1000000% I would book everything through him if I ever return to galapagos which I hope to do! He picked us up from the airport, sorted sim cards for us. The only thing I would say was I thought I'd agreed to book the walking tour on santa fe but on the day realised it was snorkeling only. I didn't mind because I actually thought the snorkeling tour I did was better than the walking tour for what I wanted to get out of it. But aside from that only positive things to say!!!Written September 18, 2023
- Bibleajosc0 contributionsMust do!!A beautiful tour on a slow moving boat 😃. The hike is fairly easy-I have recently had a hip replacement. The snorkeling is next level. We swam with a penguin, octopus, shark, so many fish, rays, starfish. It was unbelievable. This is a must do!!!Written August 30, 2023
- kboettger20170 contributionsGalapagosBK TourEspanola Island Tour Booked a day tour with GalapagosBK for Espanola Tour. We booked in advance sometime in January for the day trip in April. When we arrived in San Cristobal, I reached out to GalapagosBK numerous times to confirm our day tour to Espanola Island. GalapagosBK would not reply to back to us, so we had our hotel call to speak on our behalf. GalapagosBK tour advised that would look into this and get back to us. The night before the tour GalapagosBK emailed us telling us the tour had to be cancelled. We did get refunded our money, but it took a few days and several followups asking for the refund. Do not book with company, very unprofessional, no communication and most likely will cancel very last minute. Super disappointed as we really wanted to do this tour, and because they waited last minute to cancel we were unable to book with a different vendor as they were already booked upWritten May 22, 2023
- Zyxr0 contributionsRide from Hell20 adults, plus 3 children, and crew, were squashed into a little boat with padding perhaps an inch thick. One of the passengers rode on top, due to lack of space. Although, practically everyone volunteered, hoping for more air and space, but not allowed. We waited a half hour in the hot weather inside cramped conditions for 4 more people to arrive for the trip. The trip was supposed to be two hour long (actally, we sat on the boat much longer, waiting to leave, waiting for the water taxi upon arrival)…seemed like months. We constantly looked at our watches hoping some time had elapsed. The unfortunate young lady in front of me appeared to be in pain from being cramped. In summary, the trip was hot and miserable. There must be a better way to get from Santa Cruz to Isabella. I dread the return trip.Written May 2, 2023
- Shauna5230 contributionsAvoid this company!!We booked a day tour to Isabela months in advance. We were shown pictures of the boat we would be on which was very nice. The day before our tour, the owner switched us to a new boat saying the original boat was full. The new boat was of much lower quality, smaller and not as nice. Turns out the boat wasn't even sea worthy - the Coast Guard got on just after everyone boarded, and told everyone to get off as there was a problem reported the day before regarding a faulty engine. This caused us to miss our entire trip - we never did make it to Isabela. We also talked to the representative of our original boat on the morning of departure and he said there was lots of seats left. So the owner of BK Galapagos lied to us. We found the owner rude and condescending. At least he gave us a refund. So many other agencies to book with in Santa Cruz, don't waste your time with this one.Written March 30, 2023
- Barbara82110 contributionsDo NOT BOOK with BK ToursDay Trip to Isabela Do not book with Galapogos BK Tours - if you are looking for a memorable, well coordinated adventure. First, communication prior to departure was poor. We were told we would have a pick up at the hotel, however, it was not our hotel but a different hotel that was over 1 km away. Because we had a very early departure, we located our hotel the night before. The hotel had no idea about a tour leaving from their location the next day. Late the evening before, we received an email telling us to now be at the main dock in town instead – even further away from our hotel. Fortunately we had purchased a local SIM card and had some connectivity. What would we have done if we were waiting at the wrong place? Upon arrival at the dock, instead of a boat with just our tour group, we were told to get on a ferry boat to Isabela. We had no guide, no information on what was happening, how long the ferry was … etc. We just waited. Upon arrival at the island, we were greeted by our guide and told to wait till everyone was there from various ferries --- 40 min of waiting and the guide never returned. We went looking for our guide and found he had started the tour without us. When we joined, he rudely asked --- where were you? I replied, waiting where you instructed us to wait. The tour was poor. It was not an English speaking tour, but Spanish based with a little translation into English. ¾ Spanish, ¼ English. My husband understands a little Spanish and he would explain things to me that were never shared in English by our guide. If an English speaking person asked a question and a Spanish speaking person interrupted, guide would answer the Spanish before finishing the English answer. Again, very rude. After lunch, he told our English speaking companions that they could not stay with the group because there was no room on the boat for the bay tour. They had to stay in town. How could someone be kicked off the tour half way through it? The places we visited were a major disappointment. The bay tour was very poor, the snorkeling worthless. Minutes after disembarking, I realized, my shorts were on the boat. When I found our guide, he was very disgusted with me for having left something on the boat and let me know it. However, because it was not a private boat, the boat was gone – and the guide was not willing to find the boat and simply said there were no shorts left on the boat. We went back to the ferry dock and were again, placed inside a hot stuffy cabin to wait for the large ferry boat to fill. Not a fun day. NOTE: Other tour companies offer private trips that leave from Santa Cruz on a smaller speed boat and allow you to enjoy a day on the water as you travel to your destination. This was the first and last time we will use WeTravel.Written February 15, 2023
- FloraD2240 contributionsRun awayWe did some tours with this agency and we rented the GoPro (at expensive price) for some days. Eduardo and his sister never sent us the videos so we don't have memories of our trip in Galapagos... We called them 100 times, texted them but they never answered. I don't recommend this agency that is not reliable !! When I call them with my number they don't answer but answer with another one. Such a pleasure to pay so much money for a service that we didn't have ! It was a waste of time and money...Written February 7, 2023
- Irenvans0 contributionsStay away if integrity is important to you!We booked a 5 day cruise and an additional one day snorkeling trip with this tour operator. We realized we paid a couple of thousand more than the other passengers on the same cruise. The boat was old, loud and the food was very ordinary. We asked Eduardo in advance to notify the boat of our food allergies, but to no avail. With regard to the one-day cruise, we again overpaid and nothing was communicated to the boat organizers re: allergies. However, the Galapagos archipelago is absolutely stunning and unique in its kind.Written January 11, 2023
- Irenvans0 contributionsDefinitely not trustworthy, more interested in making a quick buck than offering a quality experience! Not impressed at all with this tour operator. Together with family friends, we booked 2 trips with this tour operator. First, a 5 day/4 night cruise with this agency. Not only did we pay way more than all the other passengers onboard, we were also fleeced on the duration of the cruise. In reality, it was a 4 night/4 day cruise. It started very late on our day of arrival and ended at 8am on the final day. Despite the exceedingly high cost ($3k p.p.), we were required to pay an additional $30 for poor quality wetsuits. We asked Eduardo several times to let the boat know in advance of our food allergens, but to no avail. Second, we had also booked a day trip with Eduardo, again, he didn't inform them of our allergies and the boat and service were very average. Sadly, I would not recommend this agency to anyone looking for a cruise or a day trip in this otherwise extraordinarily beautiful archipelago.Written January 8, 2023
- mcdaly870 contributionsExcellent tour with a helpful and friendly tour agency! As other reviewers have noted, arranging the trip with the tour agency directly is less expensive than going through Trip Advisor as a third party, so we contacted Galapagos BK Tours directly through WhatsApp to arrange our tour. We were able to book a last minute tour to Bartolome through this agency during our stay on Santa Cruz after the tour we had originally arranged with our hotel was canceled last minute due to a mechanical issue with the hotel's boat. Eduardo was extremely responsive and helpful in arranging a tour for us the next day. He even met us early in the morning prior to the tour so we could try on wet suits since we did not have time the day before. The tour was really excellent, Bartolome is a must see! The view is spectacular, and we were lucky and saw 10 of the 12 penguins that live on the island. Our guide was knowledgable and friendly. The boat was nice with good food and snacks. Overall and excellent experience.Written December 16, 2022
- Elisa W0 contributionsBooked several tours with this company - and things went mostly as plannedI booked several tours and transfers between islands with Eduardo at GalapagosBKTours. My overall experience was partially mixed in working with Eduardo. Overall I rate my experience as 3.5 stars. I am splitting up reviews - here I will talk about my day-tours and separately I have a review that focuses on the transfer between islands. I booked a total of 6 day-tours with Eduardo at GalapagosBK / baklaitos tours. From San Cristobal: Isle Espanola and Leon Dorimdo (Kicker Rock) From Isabela: Tintoreras From Santa Cruz: Bortolome Island, North Seymour, and Santa Fe (I wound up canceling going to Santa Fe) I booked all of this in advance so that I would not have to worry or think about these details during my vacation. Remotely (before the vacation), it is difficult to tell online which bookings are services and which are directly with the tour companies. Booking in advance with Eduardo, I did not have to worry about it. In addition, some companies book tours on some days of the weeks and not others. My brief experience attempting to figure out which companies to book tours on certain days was difficult. Eduardo had access to planned tour trips, so he book these on the days I wanted without any additional work on my end. The good: Eduardo is excellent with communication. Before booking the tours, after booking the tours and responding to questions, and then on the islands themselves during the vacation, Eduardo was responsive and worked to help my vacation happen as planned. Also, Eduardo knows very good English, which is important for someone like myself who does not know much Spanish. This can be rare in Galapagos - so it was helpful to have him take care of things for me. The tours that were booked were very high quality. I may have paid a little more for the tours, but the service and staff were top class for most of them. the Leon Dormido tour was not quite as high class, but it was still an enjoyable tour. Not quite as good (some small things, but worth noting): For my trips in San Cristobal, the tours were managed by Dava tours. They did not speak English very well, so it was difficult to figure out what I was doing (I resorted to google translate). But the big issue was that they wrote down for me to show up at their office at 7:30am for the Kicker Rock tour. On my way to their office that morning (7:25am), I see the owner walking in the other direction - so I ask him about the meeting. He then said 8am. So I go back to my hotel and then return at 8am. He then says "15 minutes". At this point, I'm just sitting around waiting. At 8:20am he then walks with me back to where my hotel was and "drops me off" at the pier, which I could have gotten to on my own at 8:20am. (mind you I didn't have a proper breakfast because of the 7:30 call time - which if he had originally told me 8:15am, then I could have had breakfast that morning). Of course not the end of the world, but annoying. For my tintoreras trip in Isabela Island: Eduardo indicated that I would be picked up at the hotel at 10am. I confirmed this with him. That morning, he confirmed my hotel name again. I asked if I should be ready for pick-up earlier, and he said 10am was the right time. Someone then showed up at 9:15am, looking for me for pick-up for the tour. Turns out the tour boat was leaving the pier at 10am. Luckily, I was able to leave right away and got to the boat on time. Also, prior to vacation, I had asked Eduardo advice regarding some items to pack - he had indicated sneakers would be fine for the tours I had booked. Some advice: if you go to Isle of Espanola and/or North Seymour, pack hiking shoes or something with a sturdier sole than just sneakers. It seems to be Eduardo is pretty busy. He is a nice, friendly guy, and things mostly worked as planned. He may need more assistance in the office. His partner/ assistants do not know much English, and I gather that Eduardo predominantly had most of the information regarding my tours. I did stop by the office when in Santa Cruz a couple times - I did not get to meet Eduardo in person, but he was available by phone and on whatsapp. It seems that many people book tours last minute in galapagos. I prefer to book in advance and not have to worry about travel details during my vacation. This worked mostly well with Eduardo, as I did manage to see what I wanted to without wasting my vacation time planning. I booked with him directly through email, not on tripadvisor. Yes, you pay a little more by booking early, but the price was reasonable for the tours.Written November 27, 2022
- Elisa W0 contributionsI made it from island to island with these transfers, but there were some issues/ confusion in the processI booked several tours and transfers between islands with Eduardo at GalapagosBKTours. My overall experience was mixed in working with Eduardo. Overall I rate my experience as 3.5 stars. I am splitting up reviews - here I will talk about primarily booking the travel between the islands, and I will provide separate reviews of the tours that I booked with Eduardo. I booked 3 individual ferry tickets in advance with Eduardo: San Cristobal to Santa Cruz (am), Santa Cruz to Isabela (pm), and Isabela to Santa Cruz (am). I booked all of this in advance so that I would not have to worry or think about these details during my vacation. Remotely (before the vacation), it is difficult to tell online which bookings are services and which are directly with the boat companies. Booking in advance with Eduardo, I did not have to worry about it, and he took care of the booking of a reputable ferry transfer for me. The good: Eduardo is excellent with communication. Before booking the tours, after booking the tours and responding to questions, and then on the islands themselves during the vacation, Eduardo was responsive and worked to help my vacation happen as planned. When things went wrong (which they did), he was able to fix things so that my vacation proceeded as scheduled. Also, Eduardo knows very good English, which is important for someone like myself who does not know much Spanish. This can be rare in Galapagos - so it was helpful to have him take care of things for me. The bad: Eduardo had indicated that all I would need to do is provide my name to the people handling the particular boat. However, on 2 out of 3 of the ferry transfers, they did not have my name on the list. I do not know exactly what happened, but my name was not there, and therefore I was not actually booked on the transfer. Eduardo responded immediately when I told him. He indicated that it was a problem with the other people, but it happened 2 times - so I feel like something went wrong with how the ferry was booked. On the first instance, they were able to get me on the boat that I was supposed to be on. However, on the second instance, there was obviously no room. I went through an hour of stress, not sure whether or not I would make it to Isabela that day. (the person who I was dealing with did not know much English, and she was not communicating well with me regarding the situation - all I knew was that she would not give me a badge for her boat, and therefore I was not assured a spot for travel). They wound up putting me on a different boat and I did successfully make it to Isabela - so it worked out, but this was a less than ideal situation. For my 3rd ferry transfer, I confirmed with Eduardo the night before that my name would be on the list this time, and it was. So the 3rd transfer went smoothly. Overall, this was an average experience. I gather that most people book the ferry transfers on the islands a day or so in advance, rather than prior to the vacation (like I did). If my Spanish skills were better, and I was more aware of the situation, this may have been a better option. However, it is good to book in advance, especially during high travel months. I did witness a couple of women who booked with viator and were told they did not have a boat going (or a reservation) from San Cristobal to Santa Cruz, and it sounded like they were not being helped to get on another transfer ferry. I do thank Eduardo for fixing the situation and making sure my vacation proceeded as planned.Written November 27, 2022
- davef6570 contributionsOver paid $200-300 compared to other couples on the same tour because I booked with TripAdvisor. Buyer bewareThe location was beautiful and the wildlife amazing. However, after I booked I noticed other on line reviews complaining about the price when booked with TripAdvisor. So while on the trip I learned the price that others had paid (without sharing what I had paid). I found that I had over paid $200-300 for the two of us compared to others who booked directly with the tour operators. I rarely leave bad reviews, but I came away feeling taken advantage of and wanted to warn others of the same thing. I would suggest not booking this through TripAdvisor. There are lots of solid operators in the Galapagos you can go with that will be fair in their pricing.Written November 21, 2022
- katherinedL9915GG0 contributionsWait and book locallyThe tour itself is really nice and the guide really interesting, but this guy here is just passing your booking to a local operator and take 35% for it (140$ for each person). You better book once in Santa Cruz (many local operators) if you are a bit flexible on your dates. Moreover, need to pay an additional 10$ for each person to get wet suit even if it say all snorkeling equipment included!Written November 6, 2022
- slowpuff0 contributionsTortuga Boat tour of TintorerasThis was a great value shorter tour. We were taken by boat to Tintorera Islet, then guided around there by local guide Fernando (knowledgeable guide who speaks good English). He showed us the wildlife including a large number of white tipped sharks in the channel, a kindergarten (and several 'messes') of iguanas, sea lions and a blue footed and nascar booby. Then we snorkelled for around 45 minutes including through the shark channel using their equipment. We swam with sea lions, sea turtles and the sharks. Amazing!! And thanks to Fernando and the boat guys Manuel and Ivan, it all felt very safe. It's a great length - not so long in the water you get cold ( I was in a short wetsuit) but long enough to see a lot of wildlife - I would highly recommend this tour. Definitely one to remember.Written October 26, 2022

Eduardo was a great resource on the Island, helping us out on not only tours but local info help. Everyone in the family, including the kids were very happy with all the trips he helped us with.
