    Take My Money
We went on the Rio Verde Rafting Day Trip and it was the coolest trip we’ve done in Colombia. It’s a long day for sure but full of the best scenery I’ve seen - think 1985 Romancing the Stone pristine good. My husband and I have a raft and the guides provided we’re super knowledgeable of the river and rapids - which we super appreciate. Expedition Colombia was very communicative (thank you Camilla) and professional from start to finish. Value is there for sure. Couldn’t recommend more!!

    Fabulous family rafting experience
A fantastic way to discover the indescribable beauty of this part of the world. Day 1 was a leisurely drift along to our campsite where the team had already set up our hammocks under a tarp and were busy preparing dinner while we enjoyed a glass of wine by the river. We spent mos5 of day 2 on the river. The rapids were great fun, with plenty of opportunities to swim in between. We felt safe at all times and well looked after by the expert guides. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you Jonathan, Juan Pablo, Jan and Didier [?] and everyone at Expedition Colombia.

    Adventure of a Lifetime
The Rio Samana Rafting Experience was the best time ever. It was filled with new experiences and packed adventure. The experienced guides, Jules and Didier were funny, friendly and made us feel safe and secure at all times. They provided our meals; never thought pasta by fire could taste so great. I’ve already shared this experience with so many family and friends. I will definitely do this again. I felt like Superwoman after I completed Day 2.

    Great experience
JJ was an excellent guide. He spoke good english and gave lots of interesting insight. The tour was well put together, starting with local coffee, then climbing the big rock at Guatapé, followed by a boat tour showing one of Escobar’s houses and Carol G’s house, then an authentic Colombian meal at a restaurant, and exploring the town of Guatapé. It was a good day.

    Amazing day on the water
Tatan and Didier did an amazing job and this day trip was the highlight of our trip. Their English was perfect. We started off with a rocky start, the company was going to switch our trip to the other rafting trip because they didn't get enough participants, but we convinced them to take us by partially paying for an additional person and it was worth it. The 6AM pickup is worth it. After getting picked up and driven to the meeting point, we had a nice breakfast then a jeep ride up and down dirt rides where we got to the mules. We hiked down to the river while the mules carried the kayaks and rafts on their backs. The hike is intense and not the easiest. Wear real hiking boots/old sneakers that you don't mind getting really muddy. The class 4 rapids were a lot of fun. We got to swim in a waterfall and relax in the river. They also took several pics and videos, so we get to remember this forever.

We went on a 2 day water rafting tour down the Samana. We had such a blast. Our guide Chris was extremely knowledgeable and extremely pleasant. Both Chris and Miles (both guides for our trip) cooked us dinner and set up our hammocks when we arrived to camp. They were both extremely pleasant and positive. They didn't risk any rapids that they thought our group couldn't handle. Safety was their first concern. Everything was excellent. Thank you so very much!

Best experience in Colombia! Loved our safe, beautiful 2-day rafting trip with Expedition Colombia
Spectacular! Amazing! Beautiful! Incredibly fun! We loved our overnight rafting trip with Expedition Colombia. This was, by far, the best experience of our trip to Colombia (and we loved all of Colombia) and our rafting trip ranks among the best adventures of our lives. We can't wait to go back. The first thing you should know is that the folks with Expedition Colombia are great human beings who are dedicated to safety, environmental preservation, cultural protections and supporting ecotourism as a way of helping the people of Colombia. Of course, we loved the rafting and the beautiful river. The rapids were a blast. The waterfalls are stunning and our guides took us to splash around in one. Blue butterflies fluttered over the water. And swimming in the river was a blast. We also expanded our knowledge of the Colombian people, learned more about their culture and unique plants only found in this area. In addition to leading great trips, the leaders of Expedition Colombia are working hard to fight dams on the beautiful free-flowing Río Samaná. If you raft or do other expeditions with Expedition Colombia, you not only will have a great time, you also will help support preservation efforts in this stunning area of Colombia. So, sign up and go on any trip these folks do. And we should all support their efforts to protect and save the river. We loved the 2-day Río Samaná rafting trip. Sleeping in the jungle was a one-of-a-kind experience and two days of rafting was, of course, even better than one. Here are more details. Our leader, Mael, is a world-class kayaker and an amazing person. You can trust him and the rest of the team 100%. Oscar and Jonatán piloted our rafts. All three of our guides were outstanding. Before our trip even began, Mael was keeping a close watch on the weather and strategizing about the safest plan for us. Since major rains were expected that could have caused flash flooding in the canyon where we originally planned to go, Mael wisely diverted us to a safe section of the upper Samaná. My husband and I are in our late 50s. Our adult kids are 25, 23 and 19. We're all good swimmers, but we only have a little rafting experience. So, I was nervous in advance of our trip. If you are like me, put your worries aside. You can trust Mael and the team at Expedition Colombia to take great care of you while also keeping the river pristine. In addition to putting safety first, they also set up a great camp and cooked delicious meals for us. Here is some logistical information that might be helpful to you. First, we are from Colorado in the U.S., where we have a relatively short rafting season that depends upon snowmelt. Colombia has a year-round rafting and kayaking season. Lucky them. The amount of water flowing through the rivers depends upon the rains. And, as you can tell by our experience, the folks at Expedition Colombia can plan safe, fun experiences whenever you visit. I think it's a little easier during the two dry seasons (in December and January and July and August). Second, the water is warm compared to snow-fed U.S. rivers. You'll get splashed in the rapids, and that's definitely part of the fun. Third, in the U.S., a lot of people where Tevas or river shoes to go rafting. I didn't understand why Expedition Colombia recommends closed-toe shoes. Here's the deal. You may do some hiking to put-ins and take-outs for your rafting trip. We hiked down to the water and there was some mud and there are slippery rocks. Hiking shoes or hiking boots with good traction are ideal. Also, if you're doing an overnight trip, closed two shoes are nice since there are some biting ants. (Yes, along with bug spray for mosquitos, you'll want spray to keep the ants away if you can find it.) Fourth, pack light for your overnight stay, but be sure to bring a set of dry clothes to sleep in and to change into once you get off of the river. I assumed it would be really warm overnight in the jungle, but a light layer of down and a light rain coat would have been great.

Ideal way to experience the Colombian Jungle
Very exciting adventure! I felt very safe and confident with our guide, Mael. He navigated the rapids with style and grace. It helps to have some experience paddling. The guide can only steer, guests must provide the power, and the river is strong. Due to the wild nature of the river, it is a minimalist trip - two dry bags and one food box for everybody, so pack light. The food was great, especially the meal wrapped in banana leaf. The hammocks were comfortable, although I would prefer hammocks with bug nets. However, bugs were not bad at night. They were worse during the day. Bring lightweight longsleeves and pants. The trip felt like a true expedition adventure and was an ideal way to see the beautiful Colomboan jungle. I will recommend it to my adventurous friends.

    Jungle Trek was amazing!
My husband and I did the 3 day jungle trek with Diana and it was absolutely wonderful! Diana was such an amazing guide who knows the area very well and has such a great respect for the people who live there. The sites you get to see cannot be beat. You stop at awesome places to swim with rarely any other people there. The trek is difficult, so be sure to be prepared. The last day especially is very tough. Be sure to bring waterproof boots as there is a lot of mud and river crossings. Good rain gear is important as well. Another great part is getting to try with local farming families. They are so hard working and gracious to let the hikers stay with them. They cook food fresh off their farm and it is the best we had in the country. It's nice to see how they live and be a part of that for a few nights. We highly recommend if you're ready for an adventure!

    Rock Star rafting
Go....just go rafting on the Rio Verde. This river packs a glorious punch and you will love every second of it!! It is legitimately white water rodeo, and butt cheek clenching rafting. One of the best rivers I've rafted, next to the Wairoa and Kaituna in NZ. Please note, this review is coming from a former river guide with 10 years of experience, and 5 years of teaching white water rafting guide school. Please go rafting with Exp. Col!!

    Magical adventure!
A magical experience! If you are looking for a solid day of adventure, this is it. From hotel pick up and 4x4 transportation, to breakfast and riverside lunch, to transportation back, logistics are good. (If you get car sick, bring something for that). Definitely wear closed toe hiking shoes/sandals that can double for rafting. Bring a pair of dry clothes after too. As for the experience: We hiked down an ancient trail cut into the mountainside while pack miles carried the rafts. We enjoyed a fiambre lunch riverside and then began on phenomenal rafting. We raft in every country and place we visit, and loved this experience. The rivers were gorgeous and the waterfall stop off so unique. It felt a little intense at times and physical aptitude does help, but overall, go for the adventure! Finally, shout out to Juanez - his passion for his country and for rafting was inspiring. Thanks for showing us a wild time!

Had an awesome day with Oscar and Paco on the white water rafting tour. The entire day went smoothly and everyone got along well. It was about a 2 hour drive to the lake and lunch was included. The bus picked us up at the end of the rafting journey and we headed straight back to Medellin.
I would highly recommend this trip. AAA+++

Never got to go on the trip. The day before they told me they wanted to move it because they didn’t get enough people. This usually wouldn’t work because I usually have all my trips planned out, but in this case I had some flexibility so I said sure. Then they said actually they want to keep it the same day but charge me 25% more. This was a no go. I told them I’m fine switching days but am only going to pay the advertised price. At this point they just refunded my money.

Last year, I went rafting in Costa Rica. Absolutely had a blast with that experience. With this experience in Colombia, I had an even more of a blast experience. The facility we waited in before entering the 4x4 to take us to the point of entry was fantastic. The scenery of the moutains was superb. Our 30-minute trip in the 4x4 totally made the rafting experience much better. Our raft captain was an excellent teacher and guide. He navigated through the rapids with precision and coutage. Our group was novice rafters, and he made us feel very comfortable. I really enjoyed this experience in Colombia. If you are an adventerous person who likes to drink pure adreneline, this is a great experience.

Really nice and friendly team, eco oriented. A good mix of advices and practice to prepare for the rafting, but also talk about the nature and his preservation. We really loved it, and we were lucky enough to see little monkeys in their elements. The river was great enough for intense moments, and also very safe with a good staff. 👍 recommended 👌

I was looking for tougher and riskier rafting and got it. Several (5?) 2+ meter drops. True level IV rafting. The raft fliped over at one of them, and was close to flipping at couple of others. Experienced guides.

Dear Ilya, It sounds like you had quite the adventurous rafting experience! Going for tougher and riskier rafting with several 2+ meter drops definitely qualifies as Level IV rafting, which is known for its challenges and excitement. It's great to hear that you had experienced guides with you who could navigate these thrilling waters. The fact that the raft flipped over at one of the drops adds an element of adrenaline and adventure to the trip. Rafting can be unpredictable, but that's part of the thrill. It's important to have skilled guides who can ensure everyone's safety even in challenging situations. Overall, it seems like you had an unforgettable rafting adventure that pushed your limits and provided plenty of excitement. Thanks for sharing your experience! We hope to see you again!!
