Tour Guide Artur made is Amazing, Rock and Town are Great. Boat ok
Our guide, Artur, was amazing. A great blend of details but not too much talking. He also had a great humor which made the drives and slower times more enjoyable. I would book another tour with him in a second. Guatape is an amazing area and more than a rock to climb. The area is beautiful and I wish we stayed out there compared to the city. Boat ride was ok to good as it's a bit slow, I wish the tour offered a more fun/faster boat option but it was nice to be on the water and see the history and some infamous places.

Hiring William's services was the best decision I could have made when planning my trip to Colombia.
I first contacted William's company about two months prior to my trip. He was very responsive and professional. I explained that I was a Colombian native but had lived out of the country for most of my life. During this trip I would be bringing my boyfriend and his parents that had never been to Colombia. I gave him an overview of the things I wanted to do and together we came up with an itinerary and a quote. I also explained that I would be going out of Antioquia for the second part of our trip and he was able to contact a colleague to ensure that the services continued throughout the trip. Upon arriving to Medellin, Fernando was our guide. He was an incredible man with a kind soul. He made us feel comfortable and safe. He was very dedicated to his job and allowed us to be flexible with his time and overall plans. He encouraged us to try new fruits and pushed us to climb all the way to the top of the Penol which was a breathtaking experience. Fernando, without a doubt, made Medellin and Antioquia an unforgettable experience. For the second part of our trip, we went to Cartagena. We were picked up by Willi's colleague's company. When there were some issues with the car and the driver, Willi was responsive and the next day we had a new car and a new driver, Rafael. He was very experienced and very kind. I am so thankful for William's company. Even though I have family in Colombia with cars, having the services allowed us to truly relax and enjoy the trip without any issues. The cost were very reasonable and the quality of the service rendered was priceless.

A must see whilst in Medellin
We had Fernando as our driver and Sebastian as our guide. We booked really late and Willi was amazing to accommodate the request. Guatape is a must see as well as the hiking to El Penol. Such a fun day of exercise, shopping and eating!

Great Experience with Willi's Best Guide
Willi arranged for our transportation to and from the airport and other day tours in Medellin. We were picked up by Arturo, who was wonderful, at the airport and taken to Bosko near Guatape. Arturo was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable, funny and fun to be with. He took us on a half day city tour and then on a tour of Communa 13. These were private tours so Arturo put up with our need to be flexible. I cannot imagine there is a better tour company in Medellin. Highly recommend.

          Recent 3 day tour
We (gay couple) completed a 3 day, 2 night, loop or circle drive from Medellin to Salamina and on to Jardin with Willie. Everything went really well, Willie was extremely knowledgeable and shared lots of information about the people and area we traveled thru, plus his driving was excellent. We highly recommended Willie. Also after the drive and return to Medellin we booked a city day tour of Medellin which we were extremely happy with.

          Excellent service
We were very impressed with this company. Bookings handled smoothly and prices reasonable. Our day tour to Santa Fe de Antioquia was excellent. Our driver Fernando was super careful, knowledgable, considerate and a joy to spend the day with. We have no hesitation in highly recommending William’s services.

stand out of the crowed of tour guides
We had a special one day tour with visiting coffee farmers. But the tour was much more because his wide knowledge ! He is able to costumize the tour totally to the guests because he has a wide experience and like this he can make the bridge between the tour and the clients adding a lot of additional information to the client. He is very flexible but with a focus like this it is always grantueed that the tour will be as planned but enriched. Furthermore for English speaker he is an added value with his very good English.

Visit Colombia with the BEST guide!!!
We (a group of four friends from Australia...mid fifties) spent 9 days on a tour from Medellin through the coffee area and onto Solento and the Cocora Valley. We travelled in a comfortable vehicle, felt very safe and cared for and had many authentic, wonderful adventures thanks to Willi's expert, flexible itinerary and guidance. Willi is truly the best guide....he is a great communicator from the initial contact (excellent English and probably other languages too) and is able to tailor an unforgettable, individualised travel experience incorporating the most beautiful scenery, meeting friendly local people, visiting vibrant towns, great accommodation, delicious local food, exciting hikes, horse riding, coffee tours, live music, relaxing hot springs....but most of all his caring, personal attention, humour and detailed, knowledgable explanations along the way. Thanks Willi for sharing your love of Colombia with us!

          Farm tour
We did a one day coffee farm tour with Willis team. We were picked up promptly and had a fabulous day visiting El Retiro (town) and a coffee farm. Everything was great from the drive, lots of information and a few stops along the way. We don’t hesitaste to recommend Willi to everyone.

          Truly the BEST guide.
We did a nine day tour with Willi. It could not have been better. Not only did we see amazing places, meet amazing people and eat amazing food and hear amazing music ,Willi’s passion for his country was infectious. I had no idea of the beauty of Colombia, it’s history and it’s people. Without Willi’s attention to detail we would not have experienced Colombia as we did. If you’re going to Colombia Willi is the best guide. I would not hesitate recommending him to anyone. Thanks Willi for making our visit one we will never forget.

We did a custom day tour of Medellin with Nelson. We told them what we wanted to see and they arranged everything for us. Nelson is a great, very knowledgeable guide. Communication upfront was great. Both Willi and Nelson were very responsive and helpful.

          Willi’s the Best!
We hired Willi for pickup and return to MDE as well as two, one day trips. The first was a tour of different areas within Medellin and the other was a day trip which visited the small town of Retiro along with a visit to a family farm on a remote hillside location. This was authentic Colombia. The hospitality was genuine and friendly. Willi’s tours are customized. He is extremely knowledgeable and is all about providing the best experience for his customers. If you plan to visit Medellin, give Willi a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Spent three days with Willi and his colleague, Arturo. Did the city tour, Guatape, Retiro and a flower grower. Saw and learned a lot. Always felt taken care of and they care a lot about their customers. Definitely worth having a guide to get the feel of the full city!

We had Arturo for our full day tour and it was fantastic! So knowledgeable, flexible and kind. We were able to see all the highlights, take the metro and the cable car. We loves the restaurant he took us to Las Berracass 13, great food and a great cause! Highly recommend this tour company and tour!

Here’s the bottom line: he gave us the tour he wanted to give us, not the tour we wanted and asked for.

We corresponded by email. He said the tour takes 6 hours. I said, we don’t want 6 hours, we only want 3-4 hours. He said the tour takes 6 hours. I said, we’ll pay your usual rate, but we only want 3-4 hours.

I contacted him a few days in advance about our Sunday tour. I said, we want to stop by the Ciclovia and the farmer’s market at La Presidenta. Very specific.

Sunday morning, he picks us up. As we drive down the busy street parallel to the Ciclovia (but separated by trees so we couldn’t see much) he points across the street while continuing to drive and says “There it is” and keeps on going. Thanks. Not what I asked for.

He then drives up to a promontory, parks the car, and we all get out. He then proceeds to give us a lecture, complete with visual aids, for 55 minutes on the history of Colombia. I am not exaggerating. 55 minutes of him talking nonstop while we stand in rapt, polite attention.

As the tour goes on, I remind him at approximately the 2-hour mark that I want to go to the farmer’s market at La Presidenta. We are now on the opposite side of the city. He says, there’s another one that is more authentic, and if there’s time he will take us there. (Not the one I specifically asked for, two or three days prior.) Well, guess what, there never was time because he does his program, no matter what.

This guy is a piece of work. Like one of the other reviewers said, Willi is “passionate.” I would add that sometimes this comes across as harping – he speaks so forcefully, and relentlessly, that it feels oppressive, as if he were constantly jabbing you with a finger, demanding your attention every second of the day. Sometimes I wished he would just be quiet for a few minutes.

We rode the escalator and trams with him up to the barrio on the hillside (Community 13), and he made a point of chatting up some of the people who got on the tram with us. It seemed forced and unnecessary; he’s giving us a private tour and here he is trying to find out the life story of someone who just happened to get on the tram with us. Then he took us to another area where there are outdoor escalators; he knew some of the workers there and was so involved with chatting with them that we just kept on going and left him behind. I had had enough. As we were leaving the area, I was resolved to get a taxi back to our hotel if he didn’t catch up. He scurried to catch up with us; we informed him that we were “Done” – please take us back to our hotel; and we departed without adding a tip to the quoted fee.

I’ve hired private guides in half a dozen cities. Your vacation tour shouldn’t feel like an ordeal. This one did.

My mum and I visited Medellin for a few days at the beginning of April as part of a tour of Colombia. My mum had come over from the Uk for a 2 week trip while I have been travelling various countries in South America for 7 months. We were looking for a tour guide and found Willie had excellent reviews on tripadvisor and so I got in touch. The first positive to say is that he has good communication and is easy to get hold of whicuh we appreciated. He also came up with a good itinerary for us which included a pick up from airport and a trip to Guatape in one afternoon saving us time and money. Willi was very kind and reliable, showing up on time and sending us a driver to be dropped off at the airport, all of which was punctual. He is clearly connected to the city and knew lots of people as well as being knowledgeable in various areas. He was a friendly guide and was clearly enthusiastic.

However, both my mum and I thought that he took his enthusiasm way too far. Those who have been to Colombia and particularly Medellin know that it’s a place with a complex history which we wanted to learn about and understand, however with Willie he only gave us one side of a very biased story. He would tell us information as if they were indisputable facts rather than opinions such as his view of the current and previous president. When I questioned him that these were surely his opinions and there would be people who feel differently about these governments he dismissed it quickly. It was frustrating to be told things as facts and truths when they were simply one persons opinion.

We found Willie to be extremely lecturing, we would try to ask a question or start a conversation and would be constantly interrupted by him, often repeating things he has already told us. It came to a point where both my mum and I stopped trying to ask questions and just sat there being spoken to and lectured which became dull and frustrating. We had explained to Willie what we wanted to do and see and felt it was organised badly. We lost lots of time in traffic which was not his fault of course, but instead of spending more time in areas such as Communa 13 where we wanted lots of information, we wasted time riding the metro for several stops and then doing the journey in reverse while being lectured at how well behaved everyone was. Additionally Willie left us on a few occasions to buy toys for a child in communa 13. This is a display of his kindness of course, but meant that my mum and I were left in an area of Medellin that’s not particularly safe, by ourselves with an impending storm coming when we wanted to see more of the city. Furthermore we had asked to be back at our hotel at 4pm but he didn’t drop us back until 5pm which cost us an extra hour. Willie would talk and talk, often about the same thing and both my mum and I were having to steer him on in order to try and see as much as we could.

After my mum had left, I did a free walking tour of Medellin city centre which lasted 4 hours. I learnt more from that, enjoyed it more and gave me a better, more balanced insight into Medellin than my time with Willie.

We choose to book with him because he has excellent reviews on trip advisor, and the comments on his kindness, reliability and knowledge are all fair and valid. However, both my mum and I felt utterly exhausted and overwhelmed after the tour with Willie and by the end it felt like an endurance test more than anything else. It felt patronising and dull to be lectured to constantly by someone only giving you his opinions as though there were facts.

I read the other review that was rated as terrible and I have to completely agree. It was his own agenda and own tour. His long winded speeches were almost comical and the bias was obvious. I really would not recommend this tour at all!

Our first visit to Medellin would not have been as wonderful of an experience without the assistance of Willi’s daughter, Isabel, as our guide. We spent 3 full days with Isabel, whose love and passion for Medellin made each experience both educational and memorable.

Isabel brought us to a local coffee farm where we were thoroughly educated in the coffee growing and harvesting processes from Fabian the farmer, who was quite entertaining. After which we went to an amazing city overlook and some of Medellin’s local city attractions.

We ran solo on our second and third days since they were New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, but not without the guidance and suggestions from Isabel as to where to shop and on a local restaurant for us to enjoy a local flair of New Year’s Eve festivities, San Carbon (also thanks to their extremely welcoming manager, Federico Miranda).

After New Year’s Day we spent 2 days with Isabel touring some inner and outer areas of Medellin, providing us with both rural and urban experiences which would never have been achieved without such thoughtful and knowledgeable guidance.

On the last evening we were joined by Willi for a tour of Park Lleras, which was not only enlightening, but amazingly informative of both the past and present of Medellin.

With much information and many laughs our time with Isabel was priceless and our maiden trip to Medellin would have in no way been as enjoyable or complete without her assistance.

Again, thank you, Isabel and Willi, for the awesome guidance and help and for just being wonderful people!

I booked Willi for a city tour, very last minute. He was a great communicator via whatsapp, and did a good job of coordinating my pickup. Prior to the tour, he asked me about my interests, and said he would craft the tour based on my responses. His rates were definitely more expensive than other tour companies, but I figured, based on reviews, that he would be worth it.

Willi picked me up at my hotel, as planned, at 930am on the day of our tour. I was staying in a small hotel, and the front desk staff had been helping me coordinate other activities. One of the front desk attendants walked me to Willi's car (yellow taxi, not car), and let him know that I had a couple of other tours planned, so that Willi wouldn't overlap with the things I was already planning to see elsewhere. One of the tours I had planned was with the kids that do a tour of Community 13. When Willi heard this, he had a very strong reaction, claiming that the kids in Community 13 'fill tourists heads with lies,' etc. etc., he was really quite worked up about it.

I share this detail only because it seemed to set a tone for the day that other patrons of Willi's didn't experience this. But the rest of the day, Willi seemed to be overly passionate and argumentative, going out of his way to make points about how good the Colombian government is, and how much he knows. I am a big fan of passion, but at times it just went too far, and wasn't a relaxing, enjoyable tour of the city.

That said, Willi does know Medellin. He did a good job of showing me some of the highlights and getting me a traditional meal. I just wish we had spent less time lecturing/talking in one place, and more time actually seeing things. In the full day we spent together, we really only saw one decent overlook of the city in the morning, the center square in downtown medellin, we walked by a couple of the museums but didn't go into any, had a good Colombian lunch, rode the metrocable twice, and went to a flower market. For an 8 hour tour, I would've liked to have seen and done more.

This guy gets amazing reviews, he's very intelligent and speaks great english. I think that the conversation with my hotel employee in the morning just set a weird tone for the day.

If you're looking for a tour guide in Medellin, look no further. Recently, my son and I traveled there to get acquainted with the city and to look for a school for him to study Spanish this Summer. I personally speak no Spanish and have never been out of the US, so as you may imagine, I was a bit apprehensive about this trip. Thankfully, my wife found Will on line and we booked his services.

Will met us at the airport in Medellin. He was on time and exactly where he said he would be. He was professional, courteous, and friendly from the start. From the moment we arrived he made us feel comfortable and welcome. I knew right away that we had made the right choice.

Will speaks perfect English and has an encyclopedic knowledge of Medellin. He will take you wherever you want, drive responsibly, and treat you like family. If you're unsure of what to do, see, or where to eat, he is always full of helpful suggestions. We ate at some great local places and saw many things that we never would have found on our own.

Prior to our trip, in our research of the area, we found conflicting information regarding safety and crime. My experience was this: We spent five days in Medellin with Will, and I never once felt the least bit uncomfortable or in danger. In fact it was quite the opposite. All the people that we met were kind, friendly, hard working, and family oriented.

I cant possibly give Will a high enough rating.

First of all - let me tell you that doing a tour for me is not a box of chocolates. I tend to say that I’m the real test of every guide. Due to the fact that I’m usually super-low on time in every destination, I need to see as much as possible in the short period of time. And to make it more difficult - as a photographer, I need to be somewhere already during a sunrise and then during a sunset.
I contacted Willi, asking for a very custom tour, starting around 5AM, finishing after dark. This was my only day in Colombia and thanks to Willi I may say that I have seen it at least a bit. We’ve managed to see a plenty of places in Medellin, visit some Escobar spots, tasted some local dishes, visited market, went to Guatape, did some lovely drone shots and I have bought my first full leather shoes in my life as a souvenir, which I totally didn’t plan but I’m really glad for them.
Willi did his best to get me everywhere at the best time possible and looking back at the pictures, he succeeded. If you need to put together some crazy itinerary like I did, pick him. After a few minutes of trip with Willi, you will feel like doing the tour with a life-long friend. I use private guides all around the globe and he is simply one of the best.

You will leave Medellin with a significant personal impact, impression, knowledge about the city that you will not forget. In fact, you will learn and feel the city in a much more meaningful manner on this tour. Willi is truly a well informed and cultured person with much passion for his city and country. Willi is an excellent guide explaining historically important information and how this ultimately affected the evolution/transformation of the city. I personally enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend Willi. You will feel very pleased, fortunate, and appreciative.

Other notes, I programmed Medellin city tour with Willi, which was somewhat customed to my preference of off-beaten path, real-city feel. Spent 4 hours which was obviously not enough time, I would probably recommend an all day event. I really enjoyed observing and interacting everyday life events in the city as well as its history and transformation, I find it very unique and intriguing. I brought camera (phone) and good walking shoes.

        Hope that helps.

Our visit to Medellin was made incredibly special thanks to William. Firstly, he is an absolute professional in every way - his politeness, his passion and knowledge for his city, his punctuality and his sincerity. Because he lived in Boston for several years, his English is excellent. William is able to assist not only as a guide to Medellin and the surrounding region, he also provides a wide range of logistical support, accommodation options and other tour arrangements. Everywhere we went with William in Medellin and Guatape, it felt like we were with one of the most famous Colombians - everybody knows him! That made every visit - whether to a food market, an art gallery, a local neighbourhood or even a ride on the MetroCable - extra special! We highly, highly recommend William to anyone visiting or moving to Medellin.
