My friends and I are forever grateful for the wonderful experience we had with David. David came to our hotel and picked us up, we all went back to his (lovely) home and were greeted by a few members of his family. He had all of the ingredients for our meal already purchased, so we set to preparing all of the components of the dish we made: bandeja paisa. It was a blast! Not only did he teach us the steps to make a complicated and delicious traditional dish, but with his help the food came out perfect. We made bandeja paisa with all the trimmings and lulo juice. I would highly recommend anyone heading to Medellín that wants to have a unique, satisfying experience to reserve a class with David ASAP. If ever we're back in Colombia again, you can be sure we'll be paying him another visit! ¡Gracias, David!

Daniela was amazing! She and her mother were so incredibly friendly and welcoming. My husband and I are queer yet we felt comfortable the entire time. We learned so much about local food ingredients, Colombian Spanish and slang, and of course enjoyed a delicious meal! We had the papa rellena, ajiaco, and merengón with fruit - all of it was delicious! She also gave us lots of recommendations for stuff to do in the city and connected us to a wonderful tour guide for Communa 13. Easily one of our favorite experiences of the whole trip to Medellín ❤️

We had the absolute best time at Daniela’s apartment. She and her mom are the loveliest people. We cooked a traditional Colombian meal, step by step. They showed us the entire process and explained to us the cultural significance behind all of the food. While we cooked and spoke, Daniela offered us different traditional Colombian foods to try that she had around the house. When we sat down to eat, we had the most fantastic meal. The food was excellent and we sat with Daniela and her mom for hours, learning about their culture and talking to them about ours. It felt like we’d known them for years. It was our favorite meal of our whole trip. If you’re considering doing Traveling Spoon in Medellin, you MUST book with Daniela!!

Daniela was very welcoming. It was like hanging out a friends house. We learned to make 3 authentic dishes that were pretty simple and tasty…. Cant wait to make them at home! If you’re looking to have a great experience with good conversation, this is a must do. Thank you Daniela!

Absolutely fantastic experience with Daniela and her mom. Daniela is a fantastic host, she taught us how to cook some typical Colombian dishes, but also shared with us a lot about her country. Dinner was super tasty and we had overall a wonderful evening! Absolutely recommended!

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Daniella and her mother. Luckily for me, I was the only guest that night so it felt like a private cooking lesson and a decadent meal afterward. I appreciated Daniella's patience and generosity in giving out step by step information on the dishes and I cannot wait to replicate these delicious dishes back home. To top it off, I enjoyed the conversations and recommendations on things to do around Medellin.

My daughters and I were interested in learning about traditional cooking methods and dishes for Medellin and we all agreed that the visit with Daniela and Beatrix was the absolute shining star of our visits.
First, Daniela and Beatrix welcomed us into their home and then introduced us to the ingredients and their preparation. These are experienced chefs!
We peeled five kinds of potatoes for Ajiaco along with shredding tender chicken and onions.They shared their family recipes and secrets (their home-made bouillion is amazing and such a healthier direction from "bouillion cubes") then they drove us to a local market where we walked around, tasted, and tasted, and tasted some more from samples of breads, cheeses, jams, etc., then watched people make an amazingly refreshing drink from limes and sugar cane.
We went back to their apartment and finished the preparation for the meal - flattening and frying plantains for panacotes and making the amazing guacamole to accompany them and then creating the three milk blend for the tres leches to soak into the tres leches cake.
The whole experience was just delightful, insightful and enlightening, and Daniela and Beatrix had welcomed us so warmly into their kitchen that it felt like a bunch of family members all working together to put a delicious meal on the table. What an absolutely delightful experience.
I highly recommend these two women to you as cooks and two welcoming Medellin women ready to share the cooking traditions of a Colombian kitchen with you.
