Our guide Daniel picked us up right on time and swept us away on the most interesting tour of Medellin. His knowledge base is very extensive and I learned so much from him! A truly satisfying city tour!

Joe Posada was the best Pablo Escobar guide that we could have had. He was so very knowledgeable. I couldn't ask enough questions, and I was like a sponge just soaking up his knowledge. He was very considerate and protective over my Amiga and I. He made sure we didn't slip down the trail in slippery areas. He opened and closed doors for us, watched out for us as we crossed the street. It turns out the Joe is a very impressive reggaeton free flow-er! He had so much information that was new to me, that varied from the mainstream media. Even after our tour ended, he has been considerate with responding to my ongoing questions as I re-watch the Pablo Escobar Netflix series. Joe was pur guide for two days of Pablo tours, and towards the end I felt like he was my friend. I would highly recommend Joe Posada to anyone who wants an amazing experience in Medellín and who wants to really learn a lot. Gracias, Joe!

We really enjoyed our experience on this tour. It was a private guide and transport. And our guide was full of lived knowledge. It is an interesting way to learn about Pablo considering his history - but its very clear this is a tour to learn + never allow it to repeat itself. I really respect the way Colombia seeks to remember the victims and not romanticize Pablo. Communa13 is a highlight - we stayed on after our tour so that we could explore in our own time. We felt very safe + did a bit of shopping.

I thought this tour was great. My tour guide was great because he was really enthusiastic about all the information on Pablo Escobar. We stopped a few times for food and drinks. We really went into a lot of places of Medellin I would not have gone just by myself. I recommend for a thrilling day of the history of Pablo Escobar.

David is the most careful and most informative guide to the complicated neighborhood of Comuna 13. His knowledge - not only of the hillside community itself, but all of Medellín - helped us understand what we were seeing. David began the tour with an amazing gondola from which we could see all of Medellín below us. Again this overview helped us appreciate the geography and social status in ways we never could have imagined.

Joe was very knowledgeable and insightful with local knowledge. As a solo traveller I can highly recommend to other people.

Had a fantastic private tour of Medellin and the guide Joe was such an awesome character. Clearly well connected to the community, knew all the stories of the Cartels and Pablo Escobar and this beautiful city. Clearly a lot of knowledge and first-hand experience. Also very flexible with the itinerary when my flight was delayed and we lost some time together. Only sad because I would've loved the extra two hours! Really great to learn about the stories and the remarkable transformation of Medellin. Definitely recommend for a private tour and driver, felt totally safe the whole time.

Amazing views. Guides were knowledgeable, kind, patient, and accommodating. Guides were fun, great vibe! Such a fun experience to and from the zipline! The zipline adventure itself was shorter than the drive but it was great a fun rush of adrenaline and excitement! Would 100% recommend. Would 100% go again with this company and guides!

Santiago was a great tour guide. He was knowledgeable and personable. Before the Comuna 13 climb, we had a deep dive—I wasn’t sure where it was going, but having the full story is very important to the experience.

The Emerald Tour in Bogota was just what we were looking for. Not knowing much about emeralds and interested in find out more about the Colombian gem stones, this tour gave us the fundamentals on how to know what to look for in an emerald. The tour started in the Gold (Oro) Museum and then to the Emerald Museum. With high security and limited participants, we entered the Emerald Museum adjacent to the Oro Museum. Starting from what was a replica of a working mine, we saw how emeralds were mined from the earth, the different kinds of emeralds and the various quality of emeralds. We then went into a series of displays and were fully informed on the process and saw many different emeralds on display. After that we went into a show room that had the final product for sale of beautiful emerald pendants, rings, broaches, ear rings, etc. The museum was very informative. From there we went to various shops to see what we had learned. There were many stones I would have loved to purchase but just getting started, it was too early to make a snap decision, but the quality and prices were hard to pass up. The shops were willing to negotiate, too, so don’t be shy. Some of the best quality emeralds are found in Colombia so it is worth finding out more about them from the independent experts. It is similar to the research you go through when buying a diamond and well worth taking the tour.

While visiting Medellin, it's hard to escape the shadow of Pablo Escobar. We were looking for a tour that would teach us more about the history, legacy and consequences of Pablo - without the Netflix glorification aspects, we were glad to find this authentic tour. Our guide (Daniel) was extremely knowledgeable and explained the complicated dynamic of the Escobar history, with sensitivity to the people who were killed and/or negatively impacted, while acknowledging some still hold him in high regard due to some of the community projects he built. The tour was well organised, the guide spoke a high standard of English and everything was safe. Why not 5/5? Substitute guide - while Daniel was an excellent guide, we were disappointed that Carlos was unavailable on our tour date, this was not disclosed until after we had booked and paid. The tour company kindly offered a partial refund as compensation, however despite multiple follow ups with the agency and nearly a month after we completed the tour, I still have not received anything back. Missing stops - our tour did not include all the stops mentioned in the listing, most notably we didn't visit Monasterio Santa Gertrudis La Magna (Pablo's prison), the helipad which is the main photo of this listing.
