About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- NiekW200 contributionsDon't book here! Definitely not VIPAnything but a VIP experience! Do not go on this tour! Our hotel made the booking for us, which was part of the problem: we had no information and got none during the day. We made several stops at the rosario islands. The scenery was stunning. However at every stop the prices were very high. Double from what you pay in Cartagena itself. The worst was the last stop: DYK headquarters . Very much not VIP. Rickety place, bad toilets and exorbitant prices as well. One of the servers even tried to rip us off some more! Also endless harassment by beach vendors. This was not the deepest point. We were loaded up onto a small boat, in semblance of being refugees. We went to the plankton lagoon for 20 minutes after which we returned. What waited for us was a bus ride back, duration: 90 minutes. So to summarise: we got a nice boat ride and some nice beaches/views, exorbitant prices, endless harassment by vendors, dangerous situation on a crowded boat and 2.5 hours of being on a bus. I repeat: don't go on this tour and more important, not with this company.Written August 9, 2024
- robinbV4706CQ0 contributionsDreadful trip, not as described and dangerous safety standardsTrip sold to 7 of us all a Rosario Islands tour .. but after a very long wait and chaotic boarding this proved to be an alcohol dominated party trip with continuous painfully loud music, free beers and nothing alcohol free until the boat did an extra stop to pick up water and coke. Lifejackets were available but it was made clear they only needed to be worn when in sight of the police. Worse though was the helmsman's kill cord which - rather than being attached to his wrist or ankle to stop the engine if he fell overboard - was left dangling throughout the trip. We were so relieved to get back safely and to no noiseWritten March 31, 2024
- Npk920 contributionsA Fun and Exhilarating Islands Day Tour!!Another one of our highlights from our trip to Cartagena. This 5 Islas Day Tour by DYK Tour VIP was a fun and exhilarating day tour! A lot came with this day tour… here’s the details…There’s an open bar on the boat that includes Medellín rum, brandy, vodka, aguardiente, national beers throughout the day while supplies last. The first stop is a panoramic stop at the Bocachica fort with historical explanation by the crew. Next is a snorkeling stop by Pablo Escobar Gaviria’s sunken plane. Next we visited the Isla del Rosario Oceanario where we had a choice to go visit the Oceanario or embark on more Snorkeling nearby. Next was lunch and relaxing on Isla Coral. The 3 lunch options offered - fried fish, grilled breast, and vegetarian option with sides of coconut rice, patacones ,and salad. After lunch we visited Isla Cholón, the Party Island which came with a welcome cocktail. The final stop was on Playa Tranquila to relax before heading back to Cartagena. This is certainly a must do while in Cartagena. If you decide to do this though just FYI… take advantage of the open bar on the boat and don’t buy too many drinks on the islands… they are expensive ASF 😂. Big special thanks to our tour guides - Eduar Romero, Maxwell jr, Pedro Alvarez, and Suk for leading us on this fun and memorable experience!Written January 30, 2024
- Ronantheginger0 contributionsRip off and far too busyThough the views of the islands are good and the energy of the tour guides is nice, this is a complete tourist trap. They take you to 5 of essentially the same places where hawkers Rio you off for every object imaginable. Drinks are priced more than the UK and far worse quality. You do not get more than 10 seconds without having to send someone away.Written December 29, 2023
- 782nooras0 contributionsDo not choose this if you don’t speak SpanishWe booked this tour through the hotel. The whole trip was too rushed, the boat was packed to the brim and food mediocre at best. The worse part though was the fact that no one on the boat spoke a word of English. There was another Spanish/English speaking tourist on board who translated the main parts. Would not recommend.Written May 29, 2023
- josetD4699WM0 contributionsChiva Tour CartagenaThe guide during the tour, Eder, was friendly, fun, and really knowledgeable about the history of Cartagena. He was inclusive and friendly to all guests. A heads-up to non Spanish speakers, this tour is advertised with an English Option but it’s not the case. I had to ask about the English version which is not offered but the guide was gracious enough to speak slower and translate parts in English where he could. Lucky for me I understand a bit of Spanish but if you don’t speak Spanish at all I wouldn’t recommend it,Written March 19, 2023
- jamieleef20150 contributionsHalf day Playa Blanca and planctonNot as promised, avoid this tour company! We were told we were going to be picked up at our apartment at 1:30pm, then travel vía boat to Playa Blanca to enjoy a secluded beach before being taken to the plancton later on the night. It was described as a half day island adventure on boat for $150,000 cp per person. We were picked up at our apartment at 2:10pm by a taxi and not told where we were going… about 45 minutes into the trip we asked how long we had left of the trip to the boat, turns out we were arriving to the island by car and it would take 1.5 hours to get there. Once we arrived, we walked down to the beach and one of the tour company workers asked us if we wanted to walk to the other side rather than get the boat that was included! We told them no and took the 3 minutes boat trip to the other beach!!! We were offered “welcome cocktails” which turned out not to be included and we paid $45,000cp per drink! Our wonderful boat island adventure turned into an extensive car ride, 3 minute boat ride and a bus ride back to Cartagena!!! Food is outrageously priced too, get ready for to…. the food is expensive because they have to IMPORT it from Cartagena 😂 STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY - COMPLETE SCAMMERS - welcome drink included** small plastic cup of drink - snack included** stale bread with Devon slice (not even the dog here would eat it)Written December 10, 2022
- Z2788LPgauravs0 contributionsTourist trap - gangs run the islands big ripoffDONT GO HERE!!!! Tourist trap. 1 drink called Pablo Escobar costs 180,000 pesos? That’s $47 US. I have never paid that much even at a 7 star hotel. These guys are gangsters and if you don’t pay, they don’t let you leave. They will threaten you. They billed my family 880000 mil pesos, which is $212 for 3 drinks and 2 chicken plates. Your trip will be ruined. Go to Agua Azul, lot cheaper and nicer.Written August 18, 2022
- 849jocelynr0 contributionsHORRIBLE!!!Horrible experience! This tour involves taking you to a hotel with no beach (Just a little piece of sea full of rocks) and some pools. The food is a”Buffet” style food but you can only eat one piece of protein (Fish or chicken). The whole place is full of ants! Even the beach/pool side beds. The staff that took us there and provided the service was extremely rude and seemed to be in a really bad mood. This was a horrible experience and I could not wait for it to be over. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy this tour!Written June 30, 2022
- joseaP2402DY0 contributionsAVOID THIS PLACE / TOURI think the best definition for this tour is SCAM. From the beginning in the La Bodeguita port, the chaos is evident. When sailing, one of the crew start to "secretly" sell you jewels and souvenirs. The guy leading the crew demanded tips in a way that he think is funny but in reality was rude. Then the place, they don't have a beach, just a piece of sea that change depth from 2 meters to really deep sudenly. They also call it a buffet and it is not. They give you a ration of food. Every single person either employee of the wrong call "resort" or not is trying to get money from you. The bathroom stinks and if you go anyway, please skip the snorkeling. This is an assault to the environment where hundreds of people are trying to see fishes a coral in a narrow area of see. The area is deep and full of sharp rocks. My life was in danger since the crew told me the area was shallow. NEVER AGAIN!Written June 23, 2022
- ericaaK8052CA0 contributionsNot worth the moneyOverall I do not believe this activity was worth the cost. We were given options of an open bar which consisted of back to back shots of random alcohol at the beginning of the boat ride and shots of the same alcohol at the end of the boat ride… It felt like they wanted people to get drunk quickly so they wouldn’t realize the substandard quality of the rest of the activities. The “snorkeling“ was nothing more than being given goggles and standing in shallow water to see below. The opportunity of “exploration” of each island did not happen, we were only brought to the parts of the island with vendors and bars and given about 30 minutes before we had to return on the boat for the next place. Finally, the provided lunch was the thinnest, driest fish I have encountered since being in Cartagena for over a week (and I’ve been eating a lot of fish, fried and grilled). Luckily, I had a fun group who kept the spirits high for everyone, but we all wondered where are money was really going to because it definitely wasn’t towards the quality of the experience.Written February 21, 2022
- MrAndy_T0 contributionsDeceptive, unorganized, unsafe and unhygienic tourDO NOT BOOK! Very deceiving. The tour and pictures promises a trip to Bendita Beach but they actually take you to a tiny horrible beach on another island. Where you'll be served awful food and drinks in unhygienic conditions and lay on cheap plastic chairs on a 10 foot stretch of sand. The entire day was completely disorganized, unsafe and just a total mess. The boat ride was terrifying and incredibly painful for 2 hours to reach this a destination that was not worth it at all. AVOID THIS OPERATOR AND TOURS.Written February 14, 2022

From Cartagena it is 2 hours to Isla Palma. To highlight, all the staff has excellent service and the beach is very beautiful. In order to improve, it is important to say that they have a great opportunity to improve the hotel facilities, in rooms and common areas, Bars and sale of products on the beach at the moment I would recommend going for Pasa Dia or Dia De Sol, to stay one night is enough, I stayed 3 nights and 1
