I want to say I was a bit skeptical after reading a particular review which was extremely negative But I must say I was elated I did not allow that from stopping me. I must say our tour guide Gina was magnificent with our driver Carlos. All the crew (men and women) at the Mud Volcano were very friendly, welcoming, and totally respectful. As I am not a swimmer I was a bit nervous but the men were highly attentive and assisted you through the entire process. My mud massage was executed with utmost respect. We experienced the most delicious empanadas, etc at the shop at the mud volcano. I truly recommend this experience to all that visit Cartagena- just go very early to get the full experience. Enjoy!

Pickup was on time and from the time I entered the car, until the time I arrived back to the hotel I felt like I learnt the whole history of Columbia, especially Cartagena. Gina my tour guide was very knowledgeable and when it comes to Latin music she knows it all. Points of interest were shown during the drive, directions and a few stops were made to include more details and picture taking. The volcano is a must. I’ve been to a few elsewhere but nothing like this. This is the real deal. Beats any spa.treatments. Gina organized with the locals, guide for my girlfriend and I up to the volcano mud dip, which included massages, wash off in the river and a few typical Columbian snacks,. Picture taking and bag handling were included. Unbeatable experience, one I’ll never forget. Tip with Columbian or US currency.Tip well the locals deserve it. I gave 20k each.

The boat ride was so nice although at the beginning it was raining they still made the trip so fun and a great experience highly recommend and the food I chose fish it was so good

This was a great experience. Gabriella made us feel very welcomed and explained the whole experience before we started heading to the location. I highly recommend going there early to avoid the line and also have the pit to yourself. The masseuses did good as well and made us feel safe in the pit. Would definitely recommend anyone to book. Entire experience in Cartagenas was AMAZING! True hidden gem; beauty, culture, history, people. Partook in private boat ride. Tour guide GINA was knowledgeable, caring, patient but above all, FUN!! I read a lot of the good & bad reviews before deciding to do this tour. Going to the Totumo Volcano Mud Bath in Colombia was the highlight of our trip! We booked a private tour hoping we would be the only ones in the volcano. Our tour guide Gina & the driver Marlon picked us up at 7:30am in our hotel in Bocagrande & we got to the volcano before 9am, and YES, we were the only ones there at that time! We had so much fun!! The locals were very nice & respectful. We tipped each one 20 Mil Pesos($5 USD) from the person holding our stuff, the kid who took all the awesome pictures & videos, the guys who gave the massages, to the women who washed us like little kids in the lake. And yes, we took good care of our tour guide as well. It was a great experience! There was even a sweet dog named Riley with new puppies who followed us from the lake to the restaurant. We ended up giving her our snacks since we weren’t that hungry yet.

Evelyn was truly amazing and so helpful. She gave us so much vital information about the area as we drive along to the volcano. She explained tipping to us so we did not have to worry until the activities were complete. We had a wonderful time and going private made it even more memorable. We got there before the crowds which made for a much longer massage and undivided attention. The empanadas after we’re so delicious and we will definitely cherish these memories forever.

Don’t go! This is a tourist trap. The people are kind and hard working but it was just an awful experience and I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Everything else about Colombia is amazing. Save your money for a different excursion.

We were picked up from our hotel in a private vehicle by our wonderful English speaking guide Gilberto. He explained the history of the mud volcano, and how the entire process would go so we weren’t surprised. We were the first family there, and had the entire volcano to ourselves for almost 30 minutes! My husband enjoyed an extra long massage. We had lots of great pictures taken of the entire experience. The snack provided was delicious and since we are vegetarian they accommodated that and made delicious arepas. We were promptly back to our hotel on time and enjoyed the rest of the day. I would highly recommend that if you plan to visit the mud volcano with your family, you use this tour!

If you want a quiet, private experience at the Totumo mud volcano, this is definitely the way to go! Gina was a lovely tour guide, very informative/knowledgeable, communicated the whole mud volcano process well, and gave us many recommendations for our time in Colombia. We were picked up from our Airbnb in Gestemani at 7 am. Got to Totumo a bit before 8 am. We were the only travelers in the van. The weather was cool and comfortable. We seemed to be the first and only ones at the volcano. We had 2 local guides, one who led us up the volcano steps and one who held our phone and took photos. Then we got into the volcano and got massages from 3 guys (very gentle). Then after some time we got out of the volcano and went to the adjacent lake where 3 ladies bathed us. Afterwards, we had some excellent arepas and carimañolas made by some lovely ladies at a small restaurant next to the volcano. We then headed back and were back in Cartagena around 1030. Overall, a very pleasant and unique experience and would definitely recommend this tour if you’d like to avoid crowds at the volcano!

We had a fantastic private tour of El Totumo. Gilberto was our guide and did a fantastic job of explaining the process in the drive over and also telling us about the history. We were able to get to El Totumo a bit before 8am which meant we had the place to ourselves. All the locals were friendly and not pushy with tipping. Overall a great experience and one I’d recommend. ¡Gracias Gilberto!
