My wife and I had an exceptional historical tour of Cartagena with Julie. She is a wonderful person, who knows all about Cartagena and it’s history. We were picked up promptly at our hotel at 9 AM in a private car with Julie. Fernando was our driver. Our first stop, was the monastery on top of a hill that overlooks all of Cartagena. The views were astonishing. She reviewed the history of this 400 year, old monastery, and an overview of the history of Cartagena and Columbia. The next stop was the fortress. She gave the history of the fortress and some of the many battles that occurred in this area. The next part of the tour was walking around Getsemani. This area is beautiful and has beautiful murals and paintings on the walls and alleyways. We made a few stops at street food vendors. All of them were amazingly good. My favorites were the grilled chorizo, sausage and beer, and the fresh made ceviche. Delicious!!! The next top was old city, or the walled city. Julie is well known in Cartagena. She explained the historical spots and we chatted with street vendors and artists. We went to many of the town squares and even took a picture with Monumento a Gertrude. We also made a stop at “Emerald King” jewelry shop. We actually bought some beautiful jewelry at a fantastic price. Julie made many recommendations on places to eat and places to see on our trip. We actually stopped and made a dinner reservation for Tuesday night at a very nice restaurant. Julie provided a lot of insight on safety in the city and how to deal with the street vendors. (I feel very safe and in Cartagena) At the end of the tour, Julie had Fernando picked us up, and he drove us back to our hotel. This was the perfect tour for Doreen and I on our second day in Cartagena. I highly recommend this trip for everybody. Enjoy!!!

We hired Julie for two different days. On the first day we were driven around Cartagena to see La Popa, and other sites. She took us to the huge food market and had us try about five fruits native to the area and then we had a fish dinner there. The second day she took us to Palenque, the village where enslaved Africans ran to, where we met the 4th and 5th generation descendants who educated us about their history and lives today. Julie spoke excellent English and was well informed about her city. I highly recommend her for any size group. She even recommended a lovely jewelry store, Emerald King.

On our recent trip to Cartagena, Colombia we hired Julie for two tours. The fist tour included La Popa, the Fortress and the fish/fruit/vegetable market The second tour was to the African village of Palenque which is 1.5 hours outside Cartagena. Julie provided safe reliable transportation for our group of eight. Her knowledge of Cartagena and Palenque was exceptional and her love of Colombia was obvious. Julie has exceptional English skills and was very flexible to accommodate the specific needs of our group. Also reasonable pricing. Highly recommend Julie for tours of Cartagena.

Julie was wonderful. She was funny, knowledgeable, and kind. She showed my husband and I all kinds of interesting things in and around Cartagena. Highly reccomend her!

Our group had two tours with Julie while we were vising Cartagena. Julie provided excellent transportation, snacks and water, and she provided excellent information about Cartagena. Julie was flexible with the tours and let our group make some changes to accommodate our groups wishes. She had endless knowledge about the city and surrounding area. We were a mainly English speaking group and she is very fluent. But most important, Julie is fun. She educated and entertained us on the whole tour. My husband and I both had tours with Julie several years ago, and she has only gotten better.

We really enjoyed our tour with Julie and strongly recommend her. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and great story teller. By the end, we had learned a lot about Cartagena's history and culture and we felt like we had been friends with her for years. I traveled with my two daughters in their 20's (they speak Spanish) and a friend who mostly speaks English and Julie did a great job managing the two languages so that everyone could understand.

My fiance and I recently visited the beautiful city of Cartegena. Eventhough we spoke very little Spanish, we thought we could get around and enjoy the city. We did but we wanted to see and experience more. Our AirBnB Super Host highly recommended Julie to us. We finally decided to contact her. From the beginning she was the kindest person you would ever want to meet. IT WAS THE BEST THING WE COULD HAVE DONE… Because of Julie we were able to to see and experience so much more of the city and beautiful beaches. We had an amazing experience because of our new found friend Julie. 😀

My 16 year old daughter and I went on a tour of the Bazurto market with Julie on our last day in Cartagena. Julie was amazing and we really loved this experience. This is a real locals market, not one that caters to tourists, so you really need a guide to experience it fully. Julie is so friendly and knowledgeable and she had great relationships with the vendors. We tried a bunch of new tropical fruits and ate a great lunch from local vendors. An awesome experience and I would highly recommend it. We also found out that Julie does a bunch of other tours in and around Cartagena, including a tour of the walled city. If we go back, we would try to use her for as many tours as possible. Overall a great day!

We had the best day tour with Julie!! She was extremely knowledgeable, spoke perfect English and was very accommodating in showing us what she knew we’d want to see. We saw the city, tasted some snacks and she even showed my mom a wonderful and reputable emerald store. We were sad to say goodbye! Can’t recommend her highly enough if you’re visiting Cartagena!!

My husband and I enjoyed a private 4-hour city tour of Cartagena with Julie. She picked us up promptly at our hotel and brought us to see Cerro de la Popa convent with breathtaking views of Cartagena, San Felipe Castle with its fascinating history of Spain's victory over the British, the old village of Getsemani with its colorful street decorations and art, and the historic old city. Julie was extremely knowledgable and exuded enthusiasm about Cartagena's history. Our main interest was the Spanish settlement, so she spent extra time addressing our questions. She also adjusted easily to our requests. In lieu of shopping in the old city, my husband and I preferred to eat a flavorful empanada, so we stopped to enjoy one during the tour. We also made a detour to take pictures at the India Catalina statue, since that was a special interest of mine. We did the tour in Spanish, but Julie demonstrated a strong command of English. Overall, I highly recommend booking a tour with Julie!

I had the pleasure of discovering Cartagena and Julie was our tour guide for our first walking tour that included the Castillo San Felipe de Barajas. We had such a great time and had so many questions as we planned our trip and Julie helped us with the rest of our planning. She helped coordinate rides, helped us find ATMs, was our personal guide to a mudbath/volcano excursion and helped us arrange a day on a nearby island so we could swim. Julie helped us get a Gabriel Garcia Marquez walking tour set up with a colleague as well. She has amazing and friendly connections and went above and beyond.
