About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Rachel111520 contributionsNot as advertised but ok for priceInteresting experience that was not exactly as advertised. We had a really really hard time getting confirmation and a response for pickup from hotel. So bad that I had to contact Viator for help. We got confirmation we were being picked up at 6:30 on the day of the tour for 7:40 departure. The pickup from the hotel was actually a guy on toot who walked us to another meeting point, then we walked again for another 15 or so minutes before getting in a small bus that drove us over 2 hours to the south end of baru. The tour guide mostly spoke to Spanish and translated to English a couple times for us but a lot of the time we didn't know what was going on. The boat was a little 20 seater max canoe and it was full. We then had a 40 min boat ride to Rosario island where we got to go 'snorkelling' except they had no snorkels, only masks. So not snorkeling just holding your breath looking under water. The second location was a party island where you stood in the water for 40 mins drinking a beer. Then the 3rd stop was a nice little beach where we sat and swam. The fourth stop was for lunch which was ok and then after that we got the 1 hour bus ride back. They did not do hotel drop off they just drop you nearby the old town and you have to walk from there. There was also no bottled water as advertised. It was ok for the price but I would recommend a better tour than this.Written September 18, 2024
- Q9311XWnicoleg0 contributionsExcellent! It was a very different experience. Had a blast and the lunch was AMAZING!!! Highly recommend while in Cartagena. They get you there nice and early so you have time to really enjoy it before the bus loads start rolling in.Written July 28, 2024
- jessicahR8123LF0 contributions10/10 RecommendedI chose this tour because it was not a full day tour, there are many options to choose from. I enjoyed the trip. It was relaxing and something different. I spent about 10 minutes in mud. I did not accept a massage, simply say "no gracias" if you do not want one. Same applies to the wash off at the lake. Angel, the tour guide did a good job. The tour included a snack and drink. My only issue is with the service providers at the location. They need a more efficient way of keeping track of who does what for whom. They came to the bus and ask generally for $ instead of asking the specific persons they did services for. If you visit Cartagena, do it! 10/10 Recommended.Written July 3, 2024
- JacquelineS3440 contributions2 down but 1 strong! We booked for 3 but only 1 could go due to upset stomachs. Lol. But the 1 who went had the best time!! She can't wait to do it again. Said everyone was nice and it was good to get away from some of the hustle and bustle of Cartagena.Written April 24, 2024
- GrandTour677266507980 contributionsTrashThey didn’t wait for us to get to the dock because there was traffic. They left exactly at 5:00pm and didn’t give us a refund!Written April 19, 2024
- geed20140 contributionsProbablemente not worth the costWhat disappointed me so much was the lack of wildlife. No animals. No birds. However, we did have a lovely horse ride to the beach and back, and had a delicious lunch. Plus there were some butterflies which I would like to have known more about but there was no information. The queues were awful.Written February 25, 2024
- janicekM125LU0 contributionsYuk! Scam!!1. Our ticket included hotel pickup, but we ended up paying $80 roundtrip for a taxi to take ourselves to the pickup point. (We weren't notified of the fact we weren't being picked up until after my credit card was charged for the trip.) 2. After we were picked up from the central meeting point, We drove around for 2 more hours picking everyone else up from their hotels. 3. Our ticket included lunch, our guide asked if we preferred chicken or fish and lunch was NEVER provided. We didn't eat breakfast nor lunch and No Information was ever provided about why we hadn't eaten during the tour. 4. According to our guide, The pink sea is only pink in April. Don't waste your time and go there any other time unless you want to see a salt refinery and the same exact ocean that is in Cartagena. 5. The mud volcano was unique, but there were some suspicious activities that took place in and around the landmark. The employees on top of the volcano strip you of your shoes and your phones. PS: (You will not have access to your phones until after the entire experience when the man who collects the phones at the top of the volcano comes down the volcano and returns everyone's phones to them, FOR A TIP!) When you enter the mud, the "masseuse's" attempt to force massages onto you, they grope men and women without consent, and if you decline they still attempt to rub your body until you make it clear that you have declined. It was almost as if they didn't understand the word "No". Additionally, other tourists that are in the bath before you, take their leisurely time massaging each other, sitting in corners and taking up space. Once you exit the bath, you walk down the gravel path without shoes to a small lake where a lady will be waiting to offer you a "full body rinse", where womens tops are attempted to be taken off and their private parts are carresed consensual or not. The locals and the tour guide force you to tip them for services that you declined. We witnessed people on our tour being surrounded and harrased about the tips for the services they didn't offer. IF YOU CHOOSE TO GO TO THE MUD VOLCANO, CHOOSE A DIFFERENT COMPANY!Written February 23, 2024
- handgl0 contributionsExcellent experienceThe view was very nice. We did not get to see the pink sea as it had rained. We had fun and a great massage. Lunch was good. I would do it again except for the amount of individuals you have to tip.Written February 9, 2024
- Kathryn D0 contributionsIf u can go just to the mud volcano, then yes, it's an interesting expwrienceMeh, the only somewhat interesting thing was the mud bath. In the mud bath, you are massaged, and they name themselves. After you are walked to the water and washed, again they name themselves, then you should tip each and every. It is very confusing.Written February 8, 2024

- nemethd420210 contributionsAsk for Manuel! This was the first tour we took a day after arriving in Cartagena and we met our tour guide Manuel right by the clock tower. Our tour ended up being private which was an added bonus and Manuel was the best guide. He took all the time needed at each spot, got us water and offered to take pictures along the way which all came out great! The pace and long of the tour was just perfect and we got to see a lot of Cartagena and learn along the way. We highly recommend this tour to get oriented with the place and definitely ask for Manuel when confirming your your details!Written September 20, 2023
- miahU7559GW0 contributionsPaid HarassmentDo not go on this tour if you are just with women or are a solo female traveler. My partner and I thought this was going to be a relaxing tour of the islands but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Every island stop was a chance for the tour guide (our tour guide was Kevin, so don’t go with him) to push us into spending more money. I understand people trying to make a living and respect it, but it was constant and aggressive throughout the tour. My partner and I were the only female pair there and we got the worst of it and the tour guide contributed to the harassment. If you want a relaxing trip to the islands, do not go on this tour.Written September 18, 2023
- Compass609120480050 contributionsHorrible day at the beachThis was a horrible tour . The tour was rushed, the guides were not professional and the guides did not help with the vendors that were very pushy and to the point of making the tourists feel uncomfortable. Some guests had purchased the sunset part of the tour and they did not want to stay preferring to loose the money than to stay. Also they do not tell you to take a waterproof bag and the second part of the tour which is cholin is with floating tables that your bags get all wet . Will not recommend this tour at all.Written September 7, 2023
- maibelp20220 contributionsMust do!Great experience! I would recommend, keep in mind that only goggles were provided for the snorkeling and not the mouthpiece. Note that those who do not wish to go snorkeling, they take you to the aquarium for an additional cost. However, they provided a small breakfast, full size lunch with a non-alcoholic drink, and a fruit snack. Additionally, you get to go to multiple islands and still enjoy your time at each, rather than going to 5 islands and having little to no time to do anything. You will most likely get wet in the boat as we jump into the water from the boat, and prepare to go fast ! Also, our hotel was not listed but they picked and dropped us off at our hotel so be sure to ask. Overall, it was a great experience at a great value and price.Written September 6, 2023
- marissac5560 contributionsGreatI went on this excursion with my close friends. The pick up time was on time. Overall great. You are walking up steep steps. Also, the volcano pit isn’t as large as you may think. But it’s worth the wait.Written August 30, 2023

Our tour guide Jaime was wonderful. He knows so much about Cartagena. We were able to learn how locals eat in Cartagena and their favourite foods. He accommodated dietary restrictions extremely well. Come to this street food tour hungry as you will get so many delicious foods to enjoy, experiencing what locals eat and enjoy.

We are so happy that we booked this tour. Rafael was amazing and we got to experience authentic Colombian cuisine that we may not have stumbled upon on our own. The food was all delicious! Highly recommend this tour and Rafael as a tour guide!

Jaime was awesome! He was young so gave us great recommendations for places to see outside of the tour as well. Very funny guy. His english was impressive so we were able to understand everything. Flexible with what we wanted to see as well. Definitely over-priced for what we got food wise, but still happy we did it!

The neighborhoods we visited were varied, vibrant and interesting (Centro Historico, Getsemani, San Diego), though we did not learn much about their history from the guide. The food - arepas, fruit, juices, shrimp cocktail, empanadas - were street snacks. They were all made fresh and eaten immediately as they came off the carts. By and large, they were deep fried carbs stuffed with meat, cheese, and eggs. Not great for people with special dietary needs, but fun if you are good with the down home and eating quickly off of paper napkins 😊

Our original guide was replaced the day before our tour by a very kind and enthusiastic guide who was more interested in practicing his English(yes practicing) than actually being a guide. During the entire tour not more than $10 usd worth of food was purchased on our behalf. If the tour was this expensive surely the remainder of the cost should have gone to a fully bi lingual guide who was entertaining and informative. Sadly, not at all the case. This was truly a waste of time and money

We recently vacationed in Cartegena, Colombia South America, and while I wasn't sure what to expect, it exceeded my expectations. Our first day was spent doing the Street Food Tour of Cartagena with tour guide Eusebio. He was absolutely great! Not only did we taste exciting foods, but we learned so much of Cartegena's history during our walk. (This is a walking tour worth taking - especially if you have the right tour guide). I felt as if we had learned the city, the food, the culture, the people, the history and so much more (in the walled-city) on the first day. I recommend anyone traveling to Cartegena, start out with the walking street food tour (with Eusebio). It's unlike any other walking tour.

I loved this tour which I took on the first day of arriving. Eusebio, my guide, was wonderful. He escorted me to 7-8 local food vendors that I never would have discovered on my own and he gave a great historical overview of Cartagena. The food was fantastic as were the people we encountered. A great way to learn the culture and local foods. Thanks, Eusebio!

Take this tour and bring your appetite! Our guide was Eusebio and he was wonderful! He was so knowledgeable about his city and its food. Walking around with him feels like walking around with the mayor because everyone knows him. We didn't need dinner after this tour because there was so much food and it was all so filling -- patacon, queso, seafood coctel, fruit juice, empanadas and more! There is street food EVERYWHERE in Cartagena and this tour will demystify all off it.

Worth every penny! Tour lasted about 3 hours and covered so much ground. We were in the walled city and getsemani. Our guide Cheo took us to all hidden gems and local favorites, we would have not discovered these places on our own! Highly recommend, wear comfortable shoes and loose clothing - it’s a lot of food!!!!

First of all, as a solo traveler, I really appreciate that they did the tour even though they only had one person book it for the evening. Eusebio (Cheo) was a great guide. He explained the different food and vendor locations, in addition to giving information about the city itself. The food was wonderful and very filling. Don’t book dinner after this tour; you won’t have any room for it!

I want to do this food tour but I’m worried about a lot of the more recent negative posts on not spending much money on food, Tour guides not very knowledgeable, providing very little history on sites, barely able to speak English etc is Cheo or Kevin still working this tour?
Written February 9, 2020
Cheo was out tour guide in September and I'd bet he is still doing this tour as he seems to love doing it. It's an inexpensive way to get a good overview of local street food and fruits you cannot find in U.S. It will also help relieve the concern of eating local foods for fear of getting sick, or at least it did for me, and I had several guide cerviche dishes during my stay in Cartegena. Good to the more upscale restaurants as the food is so inexpensive. Drinks are not, but food is super cheap.
Written February 10, 2020
Well there are non-meat options along the route and a ton of food so even if you don’t eat the meat items you will be full! High,y recommend it ....

Where is the meeting point for the Street Food Tour? All it says is Clock Tower, but I am not sure where in Cartagena they are referring to.
Written November 21, 2019
The clock tower is at the entrance of the walled city. If you are taking a taxi there (which I recommend), just instruct driver to take you to the clock tower in the walled city. It is sort of a "gateway" into the city itself. Hope this helps.
