I highly recommend this trip through Backpackers. They offered a decent-sized boat, and a decent amount of time on each island - Baru and Playa Blanca were gorgeous. Cholon was a party spot in the water, which is not everyone's cup of tea. Also, the bathrooms were not great at Cholon (you have to pay for the port a potty) but it was a unique experience and I personally loved the party vibe with all the boats. It was fun times and most drinks were served in coconuts. We even paid to ride one of the kayaks at Cholon that the local people were riding around. Seeing these three islands was amazing. Bring sunscreen and a hat. What was even more amazing was Franklin, our tour guide. He spoke pretty good English, was friendly and told us some fun facts about different islands. From the boat, we got to see where Pablo Escobar used to have his vacation home and we got to see Carlos Vives' private island. Most importantly, I left a personal item at Cholon Island and Franklin was determined to get it back to me the next day. He went above and beyond and I'm so grateful to him and to Backpackers. I highly recommend this tour!

First of all, shout out to this small and recent agency that offers a large variety of tours & packages in Cartagena. I was attended by this curly haired very friendly guy named David. He speaks very good English as well and helped me choose the exact tour I wanted. Also very available even after hours & Sundays to take care of your business if needed!
My journey was an all-day stay at Bendita Beach including: welcome fresh exotic fruits salad, boat transfer to/from the island, welcome drink on arrival, sunbeds around the island to choose from and a tropical meal. The rest (drinks & snacks, snorkeling or kayaking, spa massage, souvenirs) is subject to cost. There you will find a welcoming & friendly staff, 3 nice beaches and exotic fauna. A very much appreciated retreat place!
I only wish the tour was in English too, since it is a touristic area and that the tour started on time! Only because the stay there is delightful, you only want it to last as long as possible.

We had a fun time. The boat ride was actually rather nice and the islands were enjoyable. The snorkeling was great and provided a nice change of pace. The party island was a bit crowded and had too many people trying to sell but that was expected.

We paid for the VIP experience for the slightly larger and faster sports boat, as well a drink and meal. The food was good and the drink was as well.

I am from Bogota and i don't recomend these places, Playa Blanca and playa Tranquila and Rosario Islands.
5 years ago it was somewhat worth it. It has just declined from there. We went on a Saturday so it was very busy. If you can go on weekday if you can, way less people and stuffy.
The beach is ok, the food is ok, the bathrooms are not great. The whole area has a lot of grabage and broken glass before you get to the beach. They burn the garbage which is not great. And you will see the odd mouse here and there.

Now Rosario Islands it's complete rip off and it just depressing. Like I'm surprised how many people pay to see this horror show.

The boat ride was horrendous, and scary. They strapped you in this over crowed boat and take as fast as they can so they can make more money. Who cares if your enjoying it or not, your there to go see the "Aquarium" or the Dolphins or the "Terrarium".

The "Aquarium " it's just a bunch of dead corals, with fish they have habituated to swim around by throwing them bread. Like the locals are just trying to make a living right? but if you abuse the area so much, people are gonna see that and stop coming al together.
That being said there was at least 20 boats around the so called "Aquarium", which was actually a coral reef that they were just destroying little by little day by day, by throwing their ankers into it and having hoards of people stomp on them, It was just depressing as f****k.

The Dolphin i never got to see neither wanted to because they charge you an arm and a leg. The cages looked corroded as heck, so I can't imagine that's good for them.

The "Terrarium" didn't get to to do because you can only do either the Aquarium or the Terrarium. The dock looked crowed as heck, we couldnt even parked the boat there to pick up the 2 people that were there because there was way to many boats and people on the dock.

I wouldn't recomend this place. I think farther down from playa Blanca and playa tranquilla it appears there is way better places. I recomend either getting a driver and heading there or getting a yatch and heading out to rasario Islands to see the horror show. But I do not recomend purchasing any of this stupid tours. Because those picture of those places they say are great are no longer there, they have been trampled by the all the locals and the tourist.

DO NOT BUY! If I could leave 0 stars I would. I paid 380 USD for 2 people, some people paid 76.000 Colombian pesos. Others like us who don’t know paid the same amount of money ripping all of us off. First, you expect a nice-looking boat because you pay so much money. Second, the boat broke down, while we were waiting for a boat that works they took us to a castle to learn about the culture. After an hour, The second boat arrived ( worst than the first one ) After they picked us up we went to coquitos island which we were told we would stay here for 30 to 45 min we stayed 5 hours !!!!! I asked the tour guides “ how long” he kept saying the boat was coming back. I asked him about 5 times. When I was looking again for the guide, he was nowhere to be found, he was literally hiding. I found him and I asked him again he said to me the boat was getting gasoline. At this point, We were upset wondering what the hell was happening. After 5 hours, the boat arrived, but the trip was already ruined. When we got to the diving part, we stayed there only for like 30 min ( not even ! ) … after diving, we were promised to go to Cholon. However, because we did not have the time they only stopped there for us to look around inside the boat. we stayed there for like 5 min wondering what were we doing there. After we went to Playa Blanca only with enough time to eat lunch. In conclusion, a waste of time, money, and sooooo disappointment. Didn’t get to enjoy all the islands they promised. Just do yourself a favor. Do not buy this trip. Save yourself some money and stress. You’ll thank me later. ;)

Don't bother booking tours through here. You pay for something and then don't get what you want. We paid for the VIP after reading reviews that their tours are overcrowded. After confirming our pick up time, they call an hour before they close to advise the tour VIP tour isnt happening allegedly because the boat is broken. Actually, we were the only two who booked it (we booked a simple tour earlier in the day and were the only ones). So even if we wanted to try an alternate route we can't because its such short notice (we also leave the day after the tour so really not much we can do). So we were stuck going with them and we are awaiting the refund of the difference. Also the boat was a horrible falling apart speedboat. They had to fix the motor a few times. It is also extremely difficult getting on and off. First time on a step ladder is used, second time on a tiny ladder that goes about an inch into the the water (difficult for everyone), and then last time on is a gigantic step (probably easier to just sit and spin). Then we go to aqua azula to pick up more people on an overcrowded boat because their boat died. And the coast guard stopped us because the boat was overfilled. In other words run away! The white chairs is the "private area." However, there are people all around us and its extremely ober crowded. Playa Blanca shouldn't even be offered. Take another tour. The staff on the boat was nice and helpful, but the management is horrible.

Backpackers are the best. I recommend booking with them for your mud volcano, sunset cruise and most important, Rosario Islands tour. Santiago is one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had, and I travel a lot. They picked us up from the hotel on time, took us to the liquor store to grab snacks, took us to the ATM to grab money for souvenirs and we were off to the pier. The ride to the islands on the speedboat is beautiful. They show you all the islands in between before you dock to the first island which is beautiful. They served us a delicious appetizer and took pics for us. The second stop is a party in the water with a lot of boats and tourist. The final stop is playa Blanca where they serve a delicious lunch and you can get massages on the beach which were very cheap for the both of us. Highly recommend and Santiago is the truth!! This was the worst organized tour I have ever been on. The perk of being picked up from the hotel sounds good until you realize it means waking up at 5am for a 30 hour pickup window which turns into an hour long. The tour guide was average at the best. There was no communication on what was going on. When we got to the island for snorkeling, the tour guide asked everyone who won't be snorkeling to raise their hands. Then he went on shore and asked them all to leave the boat while the rest of us went snorkeling with no warnings or guidance on when the boat will be back for their pickup. They didn't even give them a choice to stay on the boat and watch other/their SO snorkel if they wanted to still be part of the experience.

Returning home became a nightmare. The tour is advertised to end at 3pm; which made me think we'll be done and back by 3. However, that was NOT the case. We left the site at 3:15/30 pm. After which there was travel time back to the bus changing location. They kept us all in the same bus and had everyone watch others be dropped off. Then they told us another bus will be coming to drop the rest of us off. Until that bus got there, they were just driving us around downtown to kill time until the other bus finally came. It was almost 5:45 pm by this time. Everyone was extremely annoyed at this and still had no idea when they'd be home. We tried asking what number our drop-off is on their list to which they absolutely refused to give us a straight answer. Debating between taking an Uber to the hotel or the bus, we thought, it can't be that bad, and reluctantly got on the bus as it took off. Another 30 mins later we were still on the bus, three stops later, it was 6:30 pm and still no sight of being dropped off anytime soon. We asked the guide again how long until our turn to which he again didn't give an answer. Extremely frustrated, we ended up taking an uber home from another customer's hotel drop-off station and finally got home at 7 PM! We could've been home an hour ago had we just taken the uber from downtown. Uber is super cheap too btw, it would've only cost about $3 for a 20 min drive!

Pay an extra $, and book a tour that can actually take care of you and respect your time. This company wasted our whole day and was below average on island hopping experience.

My wife and I had an amazing time! The tour started at 8am and ended at 3:30pm and honestly it’s been one of the best tours yet. Our guide Jesus was very knowledgeable about the islands that we visited. He also was kind enough to recommend us other tours. I would definitely recommend this tour to all who visit and want to get know different beaches. Must make this a tour to make in Cartagena.

Jesus was a great tour guide. We had a great time. The tour is a very good value. Just a warning: the tour includes basic lunch options; however, if you would like more there is an additional charge. The charge is around $5 depending on what you order. Lunch is served at the last stop which was at about 2 in the afternoon.
