Really enjoyed the day with Andie (your guide) who brought me to the most amazing tea houses. A real authentic Chengdu experience

We booked an 11-day private tour for our family of three with SunriseChina Expeditions which started in early April and honestly speaking we are quite pleased with their services. Since day one we had felt very welcomed and the local tour guide who was assigned to help us was wonderful. His name is Kevin and he would not think twice and go out of his way to assist us in handling various matters. There was one occasion when my little son was getting cranky and picky about food, and Kevin took the initiatives to calm him down by talking with him and actually buying the food my son really likes to eat. We appreciated this good gesture very much. During the whole trip, we were well taken care of, be it in terms of transportation, places to visit or meals. When we visited each place, our guide would patiently explain to us the historical background of the respective place and since we are very much interested in history and culture, we find it extremely helpful. Chengdu is such a big city and it is definitely not sufficient to visit just one time to understand and see the whole historical backgrounds and stories. We must say we have learnt quite a lot this time from this trip to Chengdu. Equally exciting from this trip is that we get the opportunity to pratise our Chinese language ability with our guide. Shoud we ever get the chance to go back again and visit Chengdu, we would not think twice in retaining Sunrise China Expeditions as our local guide. Thank you SunriseChina Expeditions for all the wonderful moments you have helped us created while we spent our time in Chengdu. It is such a memorable experience we will always cherish in our life ! Coming from London, this was our first trip to Sichuan province. From our first contact with Alex, our entire experience was exceptional: from the careful planning of four days' bepoke hiking tours around the Dujianyan area according to our respective abilities, to the excellent communication, attentiveness at every stage of our time together, and the comfortable drives to varied locations in the area – and of course the hikes themselves, which were varied, beautiful and accessible, from tea plantations and taoist temples to rich forests and glorious views. It's important to say that without Mandarin, communication in this part of China can be tricky, but Bruce, our guide throughout, is perfectly fluent in English – so we had lots to talk about! He also went beyond the call of his engagement: when our son had a knee operation in Chengdu, Bruce stopped by to ensure his care was in order (which it was). I'm not surprised that ALL their reviews are 5 stars – I'd add a plus if I could. Most importantly, we left inspired to return as soon as we can – perhaps to conquer Mont Gongga! Until then, we offer our sincere thanks to Alex and Bruce and the highest possible praise for their services.

I highly recommend Bruce's tour services in Chengdu. This marked my third time choosing his team, and each experience has been exceptional. Bruce and his team facilitated a seamless 5-day tour in Western Sichuan, and their communication was not only easy but also responsive, alleviating any worries about language barriers. Special thanks to Jay, the knowledgeable tour guide, and 小吴, the excellent driver, who took great care of us throughout the journey. The itinerary covering Siguniang, Shuangqiao Valley, Danba, Bamei, Tagong, Mt. Yala, Huiyuan Temple, Xinduqiao, Moli Shi National Park, Yuzixi, and Hong Hazi showcased breathtaking scenery, making the trip truly enjoyable. we have been always wanted to explore the western Sichuan as we kept being told how amazing the view is there! Guess what? It is truly one of the best views that we have ever seen! we contacted Bruce if he can customize our 7 days' trip to western Sichuan coz we would like to experience something different, he recommended us a west Sichuan small circle line which includes locations such as four girls mountains, Kangting City,Xinduqiao town and Hailuogou Glacier Forest Park. We drove all the way up to Jiuzhaigou Valley, it is just so breathtaking!!!

We had a fantastic time on a four day private tour visiting Sichuan's beautiful national parks, organised by SunriseChina Expeditions! Bruce was so helpful and really responsive from the very first email I sent. We sent him some ideas, and he sent back numerous options until we found the perfect tour for us. Jason our tour guide was excellent (great English, great suggestions for food and helped us spot heaps of birds and was more than happy to double as a photographer for us too), Mr Li our driver was also very professional and the car was new and comfortable. If you're thinking about a trip to Jiuzhaigou, don't hesitate taking a four day trip with SunriseChina Expeditions! Even though it's a long drive out of Chengdu, it is absolutely worth it - it will be one of the most beautiful things you'll see in your life! The other stops on the tour are also amazing - Songpan was a surprise highlight, one of the most picture perfect towns we have ever seen :)

The tour is well planned and organised. Everything runs seamlessly, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The organiser is experienced, and has done a fantastic job. Highly recommended.

We expected wildlife and spectacular scenery, we were confident that we would see muntjac and takin and hoped to glimpse a black bear or golden cat. With the aid and enthusiasm of our excellent guide, Andie, and our driver, Mr Ren, in just two days we saw all of these and more. In the depths of sub-tropical, the Tangjiahe National Park forest we had close encounters with: a pit viper, a golden cat, Chinese goral, takin, muntjac deer, Tibetan macaques, a golden pheasant, boar, an hoopoe, an eagle and countless species of butterflies, birds and insects. We owed most of these encounters to an eagle-eyed Andie who could spot any animal moving or static either side of the valley up to 500m! The only animal we avoided such intimate encounters with were the leeches that lurked in the grass; luckily the combination of a raised pathway with long trousers and walking boots resulted in a leech-free experience for all. The takin, with their gold-hued fleeces, were on their way from the river to the upland meadows gathered in small herds of around a dozen. From a distance their eyes followed us along the trail and when close they happily stood their ground, seeming pretty indifferent to us (though that’s not to say one shouldn’t take precautions during such close sitings). The muntjac were often in pairs and were much more inclined to take flight – so a little trickier to photograph. The goral blended in with and browsed the cliffs and the pit viper slipped away after lying dormant. The Himalayan black bear was about 50m above and ahead of us and on the same trail. Initially we mistook it for the back of a panda but it stepped forward to get a look at us, revealing itself as a large big black bear. Fortunately berries were the only thing it was interested in eating - and its encounter with us did not change that. We experienced the full range of weather from warmth and sun on one day and rain on the other. Walking shoes, light walking trousers, a tee-shirt and water-proof were the order of both days, alongside cameras, plenty of water and snacks. As we ascended though the forest it felt somewhat like the UK’s Lake District but warmer, with bamboo and a lot more things to look out for in more ways than one. Humidity and low cloud gave the forest a mystical atmosphere, helped by the absence of any other people and the ongoing orchestral soundtrack of birds, mammals, insects. We enjoyed two days of walking and a night-time drive along a park track. The most fruitful hike was, unsurprisingly, the toughest. At the summit was the Gansu and Sichuan border and some stunning views that evoked the silhouetted Chinese mountain watercolours. The route served as a practical demonstration of the challenge faced by those people wanting to travel into Sichuan. On paper, a five mile hike with a 450m ascent is an easy half a day stroll – the reality is not so. The sub-tropical climate made it more difficult as did the fact that the trail was composed of many many flights of concrete steps. Andie’s declaration that there would be ‘a lot of steps’ an understatement. The hotel and national park research centre is ensconced half-way up the valley alongside a fast flowing mountain river in wonderful grounds frequented at night by boar and takins. It offered good, while fairly basic, accommodation. The restaurant was a setting for grander occasions than our party warranted. The staff were very friendly and the menu offered a diverse and tasty range of authentic Sichuan dishes – and every meal was served with buckwheat tea (another local specialty). Andie intuitively ensured our choices were a balance of both what we liked and new things to try. It was all good and included tasty vegetarian options. The drive to and from the centre of Chendu was seven hours. Roughly two hours on conventional roads and five on winding mountain roads with a lot of slowing moving traffic which lead to a lot of driving on the ‘other’ side of the road – I will add that this was well executed by our driver. On the road back we visited Qingxi, a walled city and original ‘old town’ on market day. It was fabulous and again with no tourists but us which meant we became an attraction in ourselves. The locals were super smiley and some politely asked us to feature in selfies and some group photos.

Look for Bruce. He has well knowledge for Chengdu and can communicated well in English. This was my 2nd Booking with Bruce Sunrise ChinaExpeditions. I contacted Bruce again 5D4N for Daocheng Yarding. Bruce had done a wonderful arrangement for air tickets and hotels for us. We stayed 3 days in Holiday Inn near Yarding n last night at Daocheng before going back to Chengdu . On the last night at Daocheng, Bruce happened to text me how was my stay and I just replied that the Daocheng Hotel was Super cold and he immediately contacted the hotel and they bought up a heater for us!. Thank you Bruce for being so thoughtful. We met up for lunch when in Chengdu and he also suggested us what places to go and even helped us book High Speed Train tickets when we decided to go outskirts of Chengdu for 1 day. To my surprise he actually bought the High Speed Train tickets and delivered to our hotel within 2 hrs after our lunch together. Me and my Husband were again Super impressed. Go look for Bruce if you decided to come to Chengdu.

This was a great way to see some of the main sights of Chengdu (Qingyang Gong, Cultural Park, People's Park, Wide and Narrow Alley), try lots of tea, and eat some great snacks (I'm still dreaming about that guo kui we ate). Greenie was our guide and had a level of enthusiasm I didn't think was possible. Definitely recommended :)

Bruce Chen of Sunrise China Expeditions brilliantly planned our itinerary and we were privileged to have the incredibly caring, entusiastic and knowledgable Amy as our Guide for the Day. Our first stop en route to Leshan was a verdant tea plantation. Near by one could sample the tea that was been grown there. Then it was onwards to Leshan, where we were treated to a generous and delicious lunch of local delicacies by Amy. During our meal, she painstaikingly explained all the dishes we were eating and how they were prepared and also introduced our daughters to a delicious and unique soft drink, specific to the region. My girls loved it so much, that they requested Amy if they could take a few extra bottles to sip on throughout the day, needless to say, their wish was granted. Next it was onwards to the highlight of the day- the Giant, magnificent Buddha, seated benignly and majestically in the niche of Lingyun Hill. On the way up Lingyun Hill, Amy told us the story of the statue and pointed out many unique carvings which dotted the Hill along the way. She even showed us the point where the 3 rivers meet and told us many unusual stories of the Leshan city buildings and of the Feng Shui beliefs held by the local people. To say the statue which has been built over many years is breath taking, is an understatement. Looking down from the Buddha's head to it's feet makes one feel insignificant in comparison. The aura of divity its calm visage exudes is to be experienced to be believed. It was amazing to hear Amy explain to us the foresight that existed so many moons ago, where the sculptors disguised water channels in the ringlets of the Buddha's hair so that rain water could drain out and not destroy the face of the statue. Apart from the Giant Buddha, Lingyun Hill has a few magnificent temples and shrines with beautiful statues, we also had a chance to browse through them, light colourful candles and pray for a while. Then Amy took us down via another path of the forested Lingyun Hill where we could access many more Buddha statues and buddhist carvings. We saw intricate carvings in caves, on cliff sides, huge seated and standing statues, some in shrines and temples, a massive sleeping Buddha stretching sideways across almost the entire expanse of a hill, many striking statues in lakes and gardens. We found it hard to fathom the incredible amount of Buddhist carvings, statues, shrines and temples apart from the Giant Buddha, the hills of Leshan had! Later we visited the glorious hill top Wuyou temple which has amazing views all around. We were fortunate to arrive in time when resident monks were setting up for a prayer ritual. This gave us all the opportunity to pray along with them and hope that our wishes our table at . The grand finale of our Tour was the much awaited Sichuan Opera. Chengdu's unique offering of music, opera, comedy, puppetry and the incredible face changing performance. The front Row VIP seats which Bruce kindly organised for us came with unlimited tea and sunflower seed snacks and allowed us the chance to either have opera make up applied, dress up in performers clothing for photos, have one's ear cleaned or enjoy a brief massage while the performance was in progress. Guess what we chose!? Before we bid Amy adieu, dinner was a lip smacking Hot Pot, at one of Chengdu's most popular restaurants known only to locals. The meal was authentic and supremely delicious. Amy did the ordering and even taught us how to eat the scrumptious offerings. Amy and Bruce had made things even more special by surprising our daughters with their favourite regional soft drink, ensuring they were delivered right to the restaurant! What a thoughful ending to an already magnificent day! We booked a private tour with car/driver and Guide Bruce on a friend's recommendation. He and his driver were such a comfort to our family in handling every detail, from airport pickup/dropoff and our tour. We did the panda keeper for a day with a 7 and 10 year old. He was with us the whole day, translating and sharing information for us. The weather was snowing, but his team kept us safe, sound and warm, and even purchased snow chains. We did the panda keeper for a day which including cleaning the internal and external cages, preparing the bamboo, making panda treats, watching a movie, having lunch, and best of all- feeding the panda treats and carrots. He was very attentive, spoke great English, took care of all our details and concerns. On our way back from Woolong, we stopped at a tea plantation/house. We also picked up local dumplings/noodles which were also fantastic. Bruce was very responsive via phone and email beforehand to coordinate all the details and arrangements. He took all the stress out of the planning. I would recommend him to any family or friends going to the area.

I brought friends from Houston, Texas to Chengdu during X'mas, Bruce and his team were recommended by my friend as a outstanding operator so we contact him and the booking procedure went smoothly. When arrived, we were truly impressed by not only his knowledge of this area but also his great understanding of Chinese culture. Moreover his way dealing his guests made both my friends and I really enjoyable. We then booked the Panda tour with him and it was a great fun.

During my recent business trip to Chengdu, I had the opportunity to get away from work one weekend and fly in my fiancé to explore some of China. Due to the short amount of time in country and with company, I was concerned at the limitations other tours provided. A co-worker suggested I contact Bruce @SunriseChina Expeditions to take the worry and stress out of planning the mini vacation and I’m so glad I did. Bruce was so great at helping us make the absolute most out of the experience. Not knowing exactly what we wanted to do every moment, he really took the time to gather our general interest and put together the “Best” experience I could have hoped for during my stay. To begin, we visited Dujiangyan Panda Base followed by a trip to Mt. Qingchen, a trip to a local tea farm then returned to CD for food tour at night. The second day we took a walking tour and visited countless sites around the city (Huanhuaxi Park, Kuanzhai Alleys, Jinli Street, people’s Park etc.). After all the exercise we finished off the day with a nice dinner at the Radio Tower, overlooking a beautiful view if the city. I know I won’t do this post justice but he was very professional, knowledgeable and kind. Highly recommended!

My girlfriend is from Taiwan, she plan a traveling to Chengdu. We wanna our visits be natural, not too much people, not normal or some famous tourist attractions. Bruce is a quite brave and strong guy, he brings us walking through the countryside jungles, not that dangerous but with fresh village walk and air. We eat local, natural flavor, unique experience. He is quite interesting, he mentioned about his bike-tour visit in highland of Scotland. So lucky and excited to have him and our natural day tour in Chengdu.
