- C8125IPmarinaf0 contributionsExplore it on your own!We decided to go by car, on our own, and it was the best decision! I went to the Tourist Information agency in San Pedro de Atacama, across from the Plaza de San Pedro de Atacama church, and they gave me all the needed information, including that we needed to book the time on the website and arrive at Socaire's ticket booth 1 hour earlier to retrieve the ticket.Written February 3, 2025
- Destination5179570 contributionsDisappointed in the Santiago de city tourFirstly, when the WhatsApp message came for pick up time, it was very vague. It said 8:40 AM to 8:50 AM and the bus was waiting from 8:30 AM.. our guide appeared to speak English. He either chose to not understand when questions were asked of him or if he did, he understood whatever he felt like understanding.. we were told that we were going to go to various places. We ended up spending over an hour waiting for changing of the guards. We went very early to the square where the cathedral is, which happens to be a focal point of Santiago and it was closed when we asked what time it opened he said 10, but we couldn’t wait instead we ended up spending half an hour waiting for the change of the guards just down the road. We were instead of taking to this antiquated pharmacy, in lieu of the museum and I imagine his intention was to engage me instead he suggested that I put myself on the scale that still works. Anybody with any sense would tell you never to ask a woman to get on a scale and before you read this and think I’m overweight I run 5K a day and do yoga I have no weight issue . We asked to stop at the Central market. We were told it is prohibited because they had had one of their previous participants be mugged there on a sidenote, myself and family as well as another participant in the group went back and had no trouble as long as we kept close to each other and tucked everything in. We were supposed to go to see the cultural park when I asked about it I was hushed and when I complained about it, I was told that the guy claimed that nobody wanted to go. I ended up going on my own.. furthermore we were taken to one market shop that was incredibly expensive. The blue store! later on my walk to the market. I found a very similar store that was locked just like that one and was able to purchase the same item for a fraction of the cost.. in fact, on a sidenote, it seemed that once no one in the group purchased anything the tour guide brushed us off, which was when he hushed me about the cultural park. We’ve been touring South America. This is our fifth country and anytime we asked the tour guide to drop us off in a certain location. They were more than willing. He left us at that blue store and told us to walk to conception point.. when I addressed these issues with the tour company, they were left unheard.Written January 30, 2025
- 445vanessaa0 contributionsPicturesque, organized, not as many penguins as expectedIt was a nice little trip although I expected to see more penguins. The boat ride was super warm and had hot drinks available to drink. When we disembarked my husband and I tried to stay at the back of the crowd and walk really slow to hopefully maximize our time on the Island and be less intimidating to the penguins away from the crowd. This worked somewhat. Once you make the loop you can't start over and are herded back onto the boat so you may as well make the most of it. There were more cormorants than penguins, however we were there at a time that the penguins were still sitting on their eggs. I had binoculars and was able to see a huge group of penguins on a far off beach on the island so we're definitely just seeing a small sample of the cute little guys.Written January 26, 2025
- mattlindyhatch0 contributionsLifetime experience! This was such a great excursion! The weather had canceled the trips the day before so we were so lucky to be able to go. They spent time on the boat ride over giving us lots of information about the penguins and their nests. What a cool lifetime experience!Written January 14, 2025
- K5915ZGmarys0 contributionsI would go again with Pablo, the tour guide, but would never go again with the same driver.Pablo was a great guide, he was knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting information. He was trying to guide using 3 different languages so he was very busy going from group to group to repeat details. He did a great job at this except on the bus as he was at the front and we were at the back. The late breakfast was fantastic. Nicely set out on a table with a mountain view. Fresh scrambled eggs and coffee were prepared as well as breads, jams, fruit, meat and cheese. It was really great. The biggest downfall of this trip was the driver. He was driving way too fast for the (washboard) road conditions and we did not feel like he was always in control. We have him clocked at doing 87MPH. I said to another in the group that on the way out I felt like there were a few times that all 4 tires were off the ground, and their response was "I think you are right". On the return trip at one point the big travel van actually slid around a corner towards the huge cliff. Everyone gasped. I don't stress easy in a vehicle but I definitely felt unsafe with this driver.Written January 12, 2025
- W1905BXmartinp0 contributionsCaptain Fernando was awesomeThe boat was comfortable with a good guide. We had beautiful weather but the boat is ready for days that aren’t as nice if you run into them. The island is literally packed with penguins and birds making for endless amazing photo opportunities. Once back onboard they offer coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cookies. No, it isn’t gourmet by any means but still is nice. After this, a quick trip over to see a large colony of sea lions to take photos before the trip home. I wanted to specifically shout out captain Fernando. He gave my daughter a penguin stuffed animal and let her and me take photos driving the boat which was amazing. He was incredibly kind and went above and beyond for us. We are very grateful.Written January 6, 2025

- Adventure686391907040 contributionsA hike to rememberIt was a wonderful hike to a beautiful place. María Jesús, our guide, was very knowledgeable, engaging and kind and made 39,000 steps fly by! Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting TdP.Written December 22, 2024
- Matt R0 contributionsInteresting places to visit, but wasn't the best tour... we were left wanting more.We enjoyed our tour through the old city in Valparaíso, and felt our guide did a good job of setting pace while still showing us striking views, interesting historical buildings, and telling us about the town's history. When it came to the Viňa del Mar portion of the day, however, we felt very short-changed. We had lunch at a nice restaurant, and then made one stop near the beach and one more to see one of the Easter Island statues in town. Nothing else. We had expectations, based on the tour description, of seeing lots of gardens, parks, etc. We did not, which was disappointing. In general, we learned a few things, enjoyed our newly-met travel companions, but the tour, especially after lunch, felt rushed and without plan.Written December 6, 2024
- Flyer6397280 contributionsGreat trip!Excellent guide, Luis, who gave us a lot of interesting information and was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. - Lily J0 contributionsAmazing experience with this company! Highly recommend our guides and this hike to anyone.Ricardo & Hugo were the best guides we could have asked for! They were knowledgeable, kind, adaptive for everyone in the group and really helped us see a glimpse into Chilean culture. They set a great pace that was manageable for all parties and checked in on everyone physically many times throughout the hike. Would HIGHLY recommend people to use this company & even request Ricardo and Hugo. The excursion was appropriately priced, there was good communication before pickup, and our guides had great energy. Such a fun day!Written November 16, 2024
- davidnW5925QU0 contributionsA long day out to spend time with these amazing animalsAn excellent day out made even better by Luis, an awesome guide who explains everything in both English and Spanish. Very knowledgeable about the history of the area which is interesting and makes the long van rides more bearable. Expect a long day of upto 14 hours. You spend about 45 minutes with the penguins. You will need a good camera to take photos otherwise just enjoy the time with these amazing animals.Written November 15, 2024
- Escape483732490260 contributionsWorth every pennyIt was a pleasant experience all around with my family. There was enough time on the island with the penguins, and you got to see them up close. They even crossed the path in front of you!Written November 12, 2024

This was a comprehensive visit to the park and we were blessed with excellent weather that permitted a great view of all the major features. The visit to the cave was pretty pointless and excessively proved for what proved to the a fairly boring experience. I think this could easily be dropped, thus shortening the day and making it more interesting. We opted for the lunch and I recommend against this. The meal was easily the worst I have had in Chile. Our guide Carla was excellent, full of information and a pleasure to be with. The major access roads to the park we under repair in many areas and very rough which made the trip unpleasant.

I've lived in Santiago for about 15 years and have travelled all through the north and central parts but never far south. Torres del Paine is always touted as the place to go in Chile, so I decided that I'd better see it. I honestly didn't find it particularly interesting. Initially, the drive from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales is 150km of flat, featureless, windblown tundra-like terrain. Then another hour of the same from Puerto Natales to the park. The peaks in the park are impressive, but less so than the Rockies through BC and Alberta. For the most part they are bare rock, which is kind of impressive, but I'm partial to trees. In many parts it's so windy that it's difficult to walk - they close parts of the park from time to time due to excessive wind. central and northern Chile are, in my opinion, more interesting, and definitely more comfortable.

A well organised tour with an excellent guide (Roseanna) and a good itinerary covering all the park's highlights. Excellent steak lunch too. The local tour operator used was Planet Patagonia.

Before our departure, we booked a 4-hour excursion for a hike with Trip Advisor. We are 2 seniors, with knee and hip problems. So we Booked a 4-Hour hike. The night before the departure, Trip Advisor changed the hike to an
8-hour hike. As soon as we got the email we called, emailed and texted with absolutely no answer or reply. We met driver at our hotel at 6 AM in Puerto Natales. We told him we could not do the excursion, and why and that we tried to contact them multiple times. (I’m 77 and my companion is 65.) The cost for two people was $282. We tried to get a refund. It was denied. Because of this experience I will NEVER EVER BOOK anything with Trip Advisor ever again. It was not our fault. Trip Advisor CHANGED THE EXCURSION. I also wrote a review/report today on Facebook to warn others. I live on social security. I can not afford to lose $141 for something I could not do. Very Very upset.

We booked this tour via Tour 365 from Puerto Natales and were not disappointed. We were very lucky we had a bright clear day and highly recommend the guide Vincenzo. He was so enthusiastic and knowledgable about everything and never rushed us at any point that it was such a pleasure to be part of the tour. We actually ended up coming back after 9pm having spent almost 9 hours in the park.
Would go do another tour with the same guide if I had a chance again. ( normally a 10 hour tour but we ended up spending 13 hours)

Drive and trip was good. Lunch was below average. Should have covered more areas in the park. Park entrance fees should have been pre collected at time of booking rather than to bring cash.

Our guide, Nadia was knowledgeable and very helpful to answer every questions we had. The timing was perfect, we arrived to the park just as the sunrise started, creating amazing colors over the ridges. There are no words describing the beauty of the park. Hiked only some short distances and spent most of the time taking in the view. Lunch was very good and plenty, we could barely eat it all.

This was a great 1 day tour of Patagonia from the Chile side. Reserving thru tripadvisor was very easy, which redirected me to Viator Travel Agency who eventually sold a Patagonia Planet tour company. We told them our hotel at Puerto Natales and they picked us up around 8:20 am. They immediately gave us a bag of snacks and bottled water. We picked up a few more people and then promptly left for Patagonia. First we visited the Milodon Caves where they found remains of prehistoric Milodon animals. This was pretty cool. Then we went to Grey Lake and was able to see some icebergs, which was also very cool. Then we ate lunch at a cabin. The soup was very good and we had a choice of chicken or steak. I chose the steak and it was very tasty. We saw some eagles and condors landing near the cabin where we ate and got some really awesome pics closeup. Then we left and saw one more lake closer to the twin towers (Torres). This was the place where they take a lot of pics for postcards and it was so picturesque. Our guide Juan Pablo (aka JP) was awesome and explained everything in spanish and english. The driver Alex also was really good. Every stop we made even if it was windy or raining, he would wipe the glass down so we could see clearly out of the van. It was a great tour and an awesome way to see the best of Patagonia in a day.

Hello, me and my partner are coming to Torres del paine in January, we have 3 full days there and are wondering what are the best trips to do in the small amount of time we have. does the full day tour include seeing the base? or would that be another day trip? any advice would be great - also how easy is it to buy your entrace tickets - as i cant see a way to buy them and non of the tours include it.
Written September 9, 2019
Hi the full day tour does not take you to the base and you cannot do any hikes as they take you in a minibus to all the major view points- different lakes/ waterfalls and finally the grey lake with the floating glaciers. They take to the entry point where you would pay for the entrance tickets which incidentally are valid for two or three days I think so with three days I would probably suggest you stay overnight inside the park or stay in a hotel just outside the park and make day trips especially if you are interested in doing hikes. We would have loved to have spent more time there but though we had an extra day available the weather forecast was so bad we couldn’t go!
Hope this helps
