About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Surreyhotelguru0 contributionsExcellent guide, well worth boooking to make your visit specialWe spent 2 days in Siem Reap with Mr Sophea as our guide. He was one of the best guides we've had anywhere in the world. He was polite, thoughtful and courteous with a prodigious knowledge of Cambodia and the Ankor period and temples. We learnt so much and he kept up with all our questions with good grace and humour. He kindly carried our bag (we should have taken a rucksac), helped us get great photos of some stunning locations and assisted me over countless steps round the temples. Brilliant guide.Written March 6, 2020
- Barbara K0 contributionsbest way to visit Siem ReapTraveling with our English speaking guide,Sophea Chhay and his driver was a colorful and informative tour. Sophea got us to scenic sites and temples for sunrise and sunset before they became crowded with tourists. If you are a photo buff he will take you to the best spots for memorable shots. Sophea took my husband and I on a mountain bike tour (about 6 miles total) while our friends opted for motor bikes. it was a wonderful way to see the wildlife, fishing activites and temples. He also took us to a fantastic restaurant for a delicious lunch followed by a foot massage! I highly recommend Sophea.Written March 5, 2020
- 99Therese0 contributionsThree-day VIP exclusive tour of Angkor TemplesWe met our tour guide, Sopea Chhay, and driver at 5 AM on the first morning of our tour for a sunrise encounter with the ancient monastery Angkor Wat. Because of Sopea's extensive experience, we were practically alone to visit Angkor Wat temple before other tourists arrived and were often among a few visitors to other popular temples before the buses with scores of tourists arrived. Sophea was a wonderful tour guide with fifteen years of experience working for top hotels in Siem Reap before starting his own tour company. His boundless knowledge of Khmer history, art and culture and his enthusiasm at sharing this wealth of knowledge with us, enriched our own appreciation of these beautiful ancient monuments. With a university degree in history and management, Sophea provided us with much documentation stored on his tablet and could answer any question we asked. I was particularly interested in Sophea's explanations of the frontal sculptures and engravings from Buddhist and Hindu traditions and from the Ramayana stories. We visited Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm on the first day. The second day, we visited the beautiful Benteay Srie and Koh Ker temples and then the rarely seen temple of Being Mealea amid lotus ponds and wooden walking paths through the ruins. Our third day, we visited Phnom Kulen National Park, the lying Buddha, the River of a Thousand lingas and waterfalls. I felt very privileged to have visited these temples and Khmer monuments with such a knowledgeable, friendly and kind guide and friendly driver. At every stop, we had a fresh bottle of water and cold cloth to refresh us. This was the best experience of our trip to Cambodia and Thailand. Thanks to Sophea!Written January 31, 2020

- Aribaron0 contributionsAngkor wat, ta prahm and bayonSophia chhay was our wonderful guide for the day, and he did a spectacular job of educating us without being pedantic, making sure we were as comfortable as we could be in 100 degree weather, climbing up 1000 year old temples at 45 degree angles, with water, cold towels, finding the shady routes. He took us to a great place for lunch, took pictures of us with joy and humor. An excellent experience, highly recommended!Written June 8, 2019

- kevinpY5251LC0 contributionsA fantastic guide to the temples of Cambodia! We spent a week under Sophea’s expert care on our trip to Siem Reap, and thanks to him our adventure was unforgettable! He is a master at dodging crowds, so for most of our tours we were able to explore the temples almost completely alone. He’s also an endless source of knowledge on the art, culture and architecture of the Khmer builders of the temples, and has a keen eye for perfect photo opportunities. We could not have been in better hands!Written October 15, 2018
- SHARMILA C0 contributionsCambodia, simply amazingIt was an amazing experience walking in between the archeological sites in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We had booked a consolidated three day tour. Our trip started with a visit to Angkor Wat, one of the oldest and largest temples in the world known for it’s Khmer architecture. We marvelled seeing the smiling faces on the towers of the temples of Bayon, posed for photographs with the faces and then went to see temples of Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre. We were awestruck seeing the huge trees growing out of the temples at Ta Prohm, which was picturised in the movie ‘Lara Croft : Tomb Raider’. Next day we travelled 120 kms out of Siem Reap to see the Koh Ker temples and the ruins of Beng Mealea. Climbing the six flight of stairs to reach the top of Prasat Thom and getting a 360 degree view of the whole region was once a life time experience. On our last day we enjoyed the cool and serene atmosphere of Kulen mountain, a part of Phnom Kulen National Park. We loved the cool water of the gorgeous waterfall jumping down from a height from this mountain range. We enjoyed thoroughly our tour only because of Mr.Sophea Chhay of Naga7 tours. He is a powerhouse of knowledge and that he shared with us thoroughly. He explained minutely all the details of all the archeological sites and this is only possible when one loves that subject. He is very polite and courteous and took great care of us, avoiding crowds, showing the exact spots from where photographs can be taken.Written September 21, 2018
- mtangulo0 contributionsExcellent tour serviceWe coordinated our tour in Angkor trough our hotel. We choose two days with sunrise and paid the bill with our check out. Our English speaking tour guide was Sophea, he is very well versed in the history of the Angkor area. On day one we did Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, the Dead’s Gate and Bayon. This day was long but full of interesting monuments and history. Soph guided us through every important place of each temple. He explain in details and was eager to answer our queries. We extensively walked in The three temples. Note you are competing with big tourist groups (mainly Chinese). He pointed us to the best picture perfect spot. The highlight of day 2 was the sunrise at Angkor Wat, it was a great walk to the right locations at the right time. We also got an early empty look into the temple (second time) great pictures without people. Again our day was full of discoveries and history, we visited Neak Pean, Prah Khan, Pr.Prerup Including the areas were tomb raider was filmed, We highly recommend Sophea he is professional and fully dedicated to his tour clients. He explained before starting how hard or easy the visit would be. He help us get a rest and have a fresh cut coconut. We enjoyed his jovial company. An authentic committed tour guide in the Angkor area.Written June 24, 2018

- cfrankel0 contributionsA Great Tour GuideWe spent the last two days touring Angkor Wat and other temples/attractions with Sophea Chhay of Naga 7 Tours. He is GREAT. He is very knowledgeable, courteous and considerate, and importantly his English is excellent (words and phrases like "oxidation" and "cardinal directions" are part of his vocabulary, to give a sense of his command of the language). What I was especially taken with, in addition to his knowledge of the tourist sites, was his candor about the Cambodian experience. The educational system, the family structure, the wedding customs, the horror of the land mine problem, and more. He supplied wonderful support and a rapid climb up the learning curve about the ancient temples, which are a big a wow as you can get, and this extraordinary country of his.Written March 19, 2018
