- ChristineM6590 contributionsMemorable experience with fab guide !We had an amazing time exploring some of Siem Reaps vast and stunning Temples ! Our guide Mr T and his driver Ta were a great pair ! Mr T was a wealth of knowledge and made the trip so much better with his humour and enthusiasm ! Angkor Wat was our first stop with a sunrise, it was a bit cloudy but still a pretty sunrise and silhouette of Angkor Wat ! There is quite a bit of walking up and down lots of stairs which are very steep and little bit awkward, so make sure you wear appropriate footwear! The other 3 temples were all different and still amazing, we had a brunch stop in a lovely restaurant food was great . It's a long tiring day with a 4.30am start and back to hotel around 1pm bug it's worth it 👌Written September 12, 2024

This sunset tour was just what i was looking for. I got picked up at the time it says, no delays at all. Then our tour guide, Tear, made our tour much more fun and enjoyable, his English skills are great so he was able to explain everything about the people living in the floating villages and its traditions. Before arriving to the floating village we stopped at a local market where Tear show us traditional khmer food and he explained how people traditionally work in the market and how they live. Then we head to the boat which took us along the river with great views of the floating billdings. Afterwards, we took a row boat for 20 minutes (it is extra $5 not included in the tour) through a river forest and back to our boat to see the sunset. I'm so glad I decided to spend my afternoon coming to this tour!

I booked onto this tour through Onederz Hostel. Couldn’t fault Adam the tour guide! He was great at explaining everything as we went along and his English was amazing. The whole day was great, we went to see spirit houses first and then travelled to the floating village. I’d recommend trying the small boat ride for $5 per person as that was great. The sunset on the big boat was breathtaking. Thank you again to Adam, he made sure we were all okay and if we needed anything the whole way round as well as took photos for us to send later on!

The floating village tour was an incredible journey through a truly distinct village on Cambodia's Tonal Sap lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in south Asia. The Community and lifestyles on display are one of a kind and all of it was made more enjoyable by the passion and knowledge of our tour guide Meng. He did a great job guiding us around and enjoying our time on the lake. I would recommend going later into the wet season to experience the true flooded village and forest. My only downside to the trip was the floating restaurant at the end of the tour houses a freshwater crocodile (a species now extinct in the lake itself) in a tiny wooden crate for visitors to look at. I found it upsetting to see the animal in such small conditions and with nothing to do at all. However the place itself had good views and was very peaceful.

Just returned from a brilliant tour of the Floating Village and Tonle Sap Lake. Our tour guide Tear remembered all 16 of our names (super impressive!), gave us some great facts and took pictures throughout the trip to send to us on WhatsApp afterwards. The optional mangrove forest boat tour was well worth it, with the highlight definitely being sunset over the lake. Absolutely would recommend this tour!

Tear is an wonderful guide and human being.
From the get go - he shared a friendly warmth. He made sure to introduce the culture and history of his country with many tools. From stories of his life to visit and trying fruits from the market - he explained us how much everything has a link, an impact. It's easy to see he takes great pleasure in connecting with people and has a strong sense of community. We then took the boat to the floating restaurant to have a break and watch the sun go down over the water. In between every stop- he was waiting for us with a fresh bottle of water ( really helpful with this warm weather !!) At every point, the tour has been an amazing experience. We learned so much and experience life inside. I recommend this tour very much. Between the sights and the knowledge that our guide Tear shares, it's been an incredible ride .

Our tour to the floating village was really incredible. They picked us up from the hotel, provided plenty of water throughout the duration of the tour, took us through the local markets explaining a lot of details. I highly recommend going on the separate floating village tour via the mangroves, it’s really pretty and unique and lasts about 30 min. Definitely worth it.
The sunset on the boat was also really nice. Overall a great day to explore the local area. Definitely would recommend doing.

This tour provides an excellent glimpse into the lives of traditional Cambodians living outside the major tourist centers.
If you are considering different tours of the floating villages, this is the one you want. The majority of the money from your ticket goes to the local people, and the boats are wholly owned by villagers. Our guide, Thy, thoughtfully and comprehensively answered our nonstop questions about the village, it’s social and economic situation, and Cambodian life in general. Overall this was an incredible experience that contrasted very well with the lights and modernity of Siem Reap. I think seeing life in this village is just as important as seeing Ankor Wat.

Had booked this small group tour but after a fabulous private tour of Angkor Wat with our guide Sa, we upgraded to the private tour of the floating village with Sa, and had a wonderful time! Sa is an incredible guide; polite, punctual, friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable, with excellent English skills and an extremely comfortable van with great air conditioning. This was a very interesting and relaxing break from the sometimes oppressively hot city to the cool breezes on the river and a genuine insight into the life and lifestyle of rural Cambodia. Very highly recommend this tour with Sa!

Meng is a wonderful tour guide had high energy in entertaining the entire group from start to finish. He is very personable and remembered all of our names and offered us insight on daily life in Cambodia. We got a chance to go through an actual local market as well. FYI- the actual village will not be floating in the dry season, but I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in a deeper look at Cambodian culture and way of life.
