Amazing and insightful experience. We got to have a glimpse into the lives of the people living in the floating village. We visited the village and went into a local guesthouse to see inside one of the stilled houses up close. It was really interesting learning about how they live and how they get around. We watched the sunset on the boat tour and we also had a short gondola boat trip through the forest which was $5 extra but definitely worth it! I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to learn more about the floating village.

If you’re staying in Siem Reap, which is fairly westernized in places for the benefit of tourists, then I’d recommend this tour if you’d like to get a very different view of life in Cambodia. The drive out to Tonle Sap is very pretty, passing rice fields and forests, and the lake itself is huge! I went in the dry season so our boat took us to the village and we took a walk through it, after which we hopped back in the boat and headed out to the open water of the lake. We stopped at a floating restaurant for some drinks, then we headed out further into the lake to catch the sunset. Sen, my guide, was really great- he explained the history of the lake and settlements there and helped me understand local traditions too.

អរគុណច្រើន Sen! and thank you to Angkor Wat Travel Tours for two great experiences during my time in Siem Reap.

This tour provides an excellent glimpse into the lives of traditional Cambodians living outside the major tourist centers.

If you are considering different tours of the floating villages, this is the one you want. The majority of the money from your ticket goes to the local people, and the boats are wholly owned by villagers. Our guide, Thy, thoughtfully and comprehensively answered our nonstop questions about the village, it’s social and economic situation, and Cambodian life in general. Overall this was an incredible experience that contrasted very well with the lights and modernity of Siem Reap. I think seeing life in this village is just as important as seeing Ankor Wat.

Worthwhile excursion to discover and understand the daily lives of residents of the floating village and market nearby. During dry season, we access the village by boat but we explore by foot (the water rises starting July, which must be better for the floating village experience). Our guide, Bun, was very friendly and generous in sharing information.
In order to watch the sunset, the tour lasted a hour longer than expected.
Overall it was an eye-opening expérience.

Highly recommend excursion and guide. Vuti (Mr T) is extremely professional and very knowledgeable. He has given us a lot of background information about the life in the village, its people and the local activities. We could explore the floating village, speak with the residents and walk through the coastal settlements getting a first hand experience of this unique place. It has been an unforgettable day.

By American standards these people are poor - Americans are a poor judge of standards. This is a community of generations upon generations who have created a life around this fishing village - they depend upon the changing seasons and their relationship with it. They are not unknown to modern technology as TV antennas and Solar panels can be seen. We found the people to be comfortable in their life - so different from ours in the USA. So glad to have experienced it.

This tour gave us a view of the way of life for many Cambodians. Our tour guide Sam, spoke excellent English, gave us lots of information regarding their way of life. We saw the stilt houses along the river, walked the village and then ventured out into the lake to a floating restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this tour.

This was such a good choice! Our tour guide (Bunnak) was very knowledgeable, friendly, and his English was perfect! He told about culture, history, the people and answered many questions. The small boat tour was also really nice through the trees and the sunset boat tour was beautiful! 10/10 recommend!
