We joined the Angkor sunrise tour, it was good to start the day early and visit temples before it got too late. However, it was cloudy and we couldn’t see the sun rising. Anyway, it was a wonderful day. Frankly, I was astonished with Ta Phrom (Tomb Raider) temple more than Angkor Wat. All these trees and their roots made the temples so mystic that you feel yourself living in a movie.

Strongly recommend everyone to visit these places with a guide. We learned so much about culture, history, economy and politics in Cambodia from our guide Chhay. Thanks mate for making this trip so amusing and insightful.

Cheers!

This was the first tour I booked online when I was planning my short trip to Siem Reap. Was a bit apprehensive at first because in a lot of cases, what is advertised isn't exactly what gets delivered. But this trip was exactly as promised :)

Mr Phi arrived on time (4.15 AM) at my hotel and after a very brief introduction we set off to pick up the rest of the guests who were doing the same tour and then to the ticket counter for the tickets to the Angkor Wat.

Pick-ups done and the day ticket purchased, we set off to view one of the historic masterpieces of all time; the Angkor Wat. Eight in all, our group was made up of three couples and two of us who were solo travellers. En route to the site, Mr Phi introduced the group and kept us all entertained right through the trip with his impromptu humour.

Catching the Angkor Wat at sunrise is a very popular activity to kick-start the day with and we positioned ourselves in almost pitch darkness at vantage points (by the side of a lake) indicated by Mr Phi. The view of Angkor Wat as the sun rose was breath taking and the place livened up to the sounds of cameras firing away. It was only after the sun came up that I realised that I was just one among a thousand tourists who were huddled around that small lake to view the spectacle.

We then proceeded into the Angkor Wat with Mr Phi telling us about the history and culture connected with it, the world's largest religious monument. We stopped at various places within the temple to take photographs and also for updates on the monument, making this a very easy paced outing.

Though I have written only on the Angkor Wat, the rest of the day was equally enriching. The trip to the Angkor Wat was followed by a proper sit down breakfast, after which we moved on and visited the following: Ta Prohm (known as the Tomb Raider temple), Angkor Thom complex, Takeo Temple, Bayon Temple & the Terrace of Elephants.

I had an awesome time on this trip and am uploading a few snaps from the Angkor Wat leg of this outing. I will definitely recommend that all visitors to Siem Reap take this trip and I have no hesitation in suggesting that they do it with Journey Cambodia & with Mr Phi as your guide for the day.

We booked a tour with this company on GetYourGuide and we were honestly amazed. We were picked up by our guide Pi and driver Pai who were so friendly and professional. Pi advised us to go and swap into trainers because we had sandals on and this was such great advise. The car we were picked up in and dropped off in was clean, air conditioned and they even opened and closed the door for us every single time and provided us with cold water bottles all day long. Service was amazing.

His information and knowledge was unbelievable and it honestly would not have been the same without him. His English was great, he gave content to everything we saw and answered our questions. If you are considering getting a guide but you’re unsure…. Just do it!! Walking around on your own is just not the same without the information and context that a guide like Pi can give.

We actually booked onto a group tour but because only my partner and I booked, they still ran the tour for us but it was private which normally, you would pay so much money for and this was truly amazing.

Pi took pictures of us, knew all of the best spots for photos and the sunrise.

A day we will never forget. Thank you so much!

We had a great experience on our trip with Journey Cambodia. Our driver was exactly on time and the tour guide Pi was very friendly and knowledgeable, keeping us informed throughout the trip.

He made sure the experience was very smooth and enjoyable and we learnt a lot of information from him whilst taking in the amazing sights at the temples. Pi always made sure we were happy and had spent enough time/taken enough pictures at each location, and was also happy to answer any questions we had.

Cold bottled water was handed out each time we returned to the bus, and we made plenty of rest stops as well as having time to buy breakfast at a local restaurant. Definitely worth the cost.

My wife and I elected to do the sunrise tour, which I don't recommend. The tour is advertised as 8 hours long, which is 4 hours longer than you need to see the temples in question. The pictures were beautiful, but it added like 3 hours to the tour which was already way too long. Not worth it. After we fought the enormous crowds for the sunrise pictures, we spent almost a full hour outside the gates of Angkor Wat waiting for the sun to rise fully. Again, not worth it. Once we got inside the temple, our guide spent the majority of his time explaining frescoes and carvings that were extremely repetitive. Just to touch on our guide for a second, he was very knowledgeable but incredibly dull. Also, he was extremely hard to understand, and he kept leaving us without any instructions as to where we were supposed to be going. He repeated the same 4 pieces of information as nauseum throughout the whole tour, he didn't crack a single joke or smile one time. We saw other guides suggesting picture locations and helping tourists get good pics, but our guide did no such thing. The thing that pissed me off the most was the sheer amount of time he spent describing the same types of things over and over. Tour was advertised as 3 locations, back to the hotel by noon. At 10:00, we had not left the first location. When we did leave, our guide told us that we would spend 2 hours at the second location, and another 1.5 or 2 hours at the last location before we departed. We convinced him to speed up so we could make another obligation we had at 1, but he only did so begrudgingly. The only thing good about this tour was the transportation between the temples! We learned more about the locations from Wikipedia when we got back to the hotel than we did on the tour itself. Save your money and hire a tuk tuk take you to the temples for the day.

Dear Garrett & Emily, Thanks so much for taking the time and sharing your feedback with us Journey Cambodia. It’s only with feedback like this that we can improve and develop our whole team towards providing our customers which a consistently excellent experience. We are so sorry to hear that your tour didn’t meet your expectations and thanks so much for this instructive feedback. We do agree with you and due to the limitation of tour guide knowledge left you to feel bored. With too much detail on the history and also crowed on the day due to the peak season then the tour was finished late than expected time. We are aware that in this case the standard was not to our normal level and therefore we will take immediate action and ensure our guide receives the necessary personal training and development before leading any future tours. Best Regards, Boret Ream

As others have said, it was a very early start for the sunrise, but well worthwhile. The trip was very well organised, and our guide Sok Chea was very informative, and helpful. He was very knowledgeable about the temples, and took care to get us good photos. The day was longer than I expected, as we didn't return to our hotel until around 3.30pm, but in addition to Angkor Wat, we went to several smaller and less crowded temples, but these were beautiful, awe-inspiring, and well worth visiting. The driver was also great, providing water and cool towels at regular intervals throughout the day. Only thing to note is if you are prone to insect bites (I am), I'd recommend wearing long trousers to protect yourself around the water areas at sunrise. I would highly recommend the trip with Journey Cambodia.

This is a must-do tour if you visit Siem Reap. Mr. Pi was a phenomenal tour guide and was incredibly informative in telling us about the history behind each of the temples we visited. The tour included visits to three different temples over the course of 8 hours -- definitely felt like a good value for the price. Transportation to the temples on an AC bus was included as were many bottles of water throughout the trip, which was a nice plus for the trip. If you do one thing in Siem Reap, I couldn't recommend this tour more highly.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour even though we had to wake up at 4am. Our tour guide, Sam was very patient and knowledgeable. He has a very pleasant and kind personality. He knows his history and always smiling. We brought our own breakfast box and had our breakfast at a local restaurant where we can order our beverages and juices. Toilets were cleaned and food was good although more expensive than at downtown Siem Reap. The bus provided us with cold bottled water and cold tower after each stop so it was very refreshing. Be prepared for the very humid weather (86%) and sunny day. Wear loose clothing is the best.

We did the one day temple tour and our tour guides name was Sok Chea. We were picked up promptly from our hotel at 4.15am and taken to the ticket office where we arrived 5 minutes before it opened, so we were the first in line to get our tickets. We paid for our temple park entrance tickets separately to the tour, which were $39 each, and the tickets had our pictures printed on to them so they couldn’t not be sold on to others. We then made our way to the temple to get prime positions for sunrise. It was pitch black when we arrived and the sunrise started to happen at around 6.25 onwards. Sok had his own camera and was able to get great shots of all of us as the sun rise. He was a perfectionist at getting the photos just right! We then made our way inside the temple and Sok was an incredible tour guide, he was able to cover so much ground and explain everything in such detail, which we found so insightful and interesting. The tour was run very practically and we also saw bayon temple and the tomb raider one and many others. He took fantastic photos of us in our couples and of the whole groups, and sent them all over to us afterwards which we cannot thank him enough for. This tour is the perfect way to see all of the main temples in siem reap, especially if you are tight on time as we were. Angkor wat is magnificent and Sok was fantastic!

Our guide Sokphy Sumsot was so enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly. Unfortunately due to the location of the sun at this time of year the sunrise over Angkor wat was later & not as exciting as expected but we did have a really good position of the sunrise and our guide ensured we captured the best possible views & photos. We saw 4 different temples and got to spend plenty of time exploring and learning about them. Sokphy was happy to take photos and wait for us to capture images. He answered any questions we had and gave us lots of in-depth information about the history and culture. Our driver the handsome man was safe, friendly and well
Organised with cool scented towels and cold bottles of water to Refresh when we got back to the bus. The communication from journey Cambodia was spot on when two friends wanted to join me. I loved the small group aspect as there was only 8 which allowed for individual questions, time exploring and new friendships to form.
Thank you journey Cambodia and especially our guide and driver for making it a fabulous experience. Highly recommend.
