Mandalay half day sightseeing; Visit to Mahamuni Pagoda, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda a large Buddha image carved out of a single block of marble, Shwenandaw Monastery (Golden Palace) is famous for its intricate wood carvings; this monastery is a fragile reminder of the old Mandalay Palace. Kuthodaw Pagodaknown built by King Mindon in 1857, this pagoda modeled on the Shwezigon Pagoda at Nyaung-U, is surrounded by 729 upright stone slabs on which are inscribed the entire Tipiṭaka as edited and approved by the Fifth Buddhist council. It is also popularly known as "World's largest book" for its stone scriptures. Later, up to visit Mandalay Palace and Mandalay Hill, offering a magnificent view of the city and surrounding countryside. You will enjoy the beautiful sunset before getting back the hotel.

          Loved it
Went there from Bagan with a shared van. About $7.00 round trip, and we were given about 2 hours to go up, which was enough. It has a covered stairway, I believe 777 stairs, barefoot with lots of monkeys around you all the way. Nice temple, pagoda on the top.
