Alex was an outstanding guide in Brasov. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the tour truly memorable. We appreciated the personal touch of the private tour, which offered a much more enriching experience than larger group tours. Highly recommend!

I did the tour to Peles, Bran and Rasnov fortress. Our guide Tiberiu gave us a lot of information on the history of these places and he did it in a very fun and entertaining way. I consider this one of the best guided tours I have ever been on.

The sights are wonderful but be prepared for lots of uneven surfaces and stairs. Difficult when it is a very wet day so good waterproofs and sturdy shoes are a must. Our guide was very informative on the history of places but less so on the timetable of the day. As there were only three of us on the tour so it was by car. Tour guide he was very accommodating and flexible at the sights. Viscri church is lovely but under construction. Sighisoara is beautiful.

Tiberiu from Active Travels was our guide for our group at Bran Castle. A mixed group of Romanians and foreigners that knew little about the castle. He made the tour so interesting for all of us with the all the vast information he obviously had about Romanian history and Bran Castle. He spoke with such passion and admiration about Queen Maria and all that she did for her people and the castle that fascinated all the participants and they all shared great feedback on the tour.

Charlie did an amazing job! Picked us up on time. Very knowledgeable! He pointed out areas of interest and made sure to answer any questions we had. He also took the time out to help a couple on our trip with scheduling a train so they could go to their next destination! I would absolutely recommend Charlie and this trip. Go early as the castle gets packed with people.

Great trip, very knowledgeable and helpful guide and we would definitely recommend! Bears were the main reason for our trip to Romania so we were very pleased to see 2 bears who were around for almost the entire time!

This visit is very interesting, and our guide Alex gave us a lot of information about the magnificent Peles Castle and its historical context. Additionally, Alex was very kind and patient in answering all our questions.

This tour through the stunning nature of these mountains is extraordinary. Highly, highly recommended! And our experienced guide Bogdan has been quite a discovery! He’s a great person with extensive knowledge about mountaineering, adventure sports, survival, and the history of Romania. The journey was very enjoyable, and the day went by so quickly! And that’s despite us having taken over 30,000 steps, haha. The mealtime was delicious and very rejuvenating.

I recently had the privilege of hiking through the stunning Piatra Craiului mountains, and I cannot recommend our guide, Mihai, enough! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, sharing fascinating insights into the local environment, scenery, wildlife, and old legends. Mihai knew the trails very well, ensuring the group always felt safe, even on the more challenging paths. He also made sure everyone was comfortable with the hiking pace. I would highly recommend taking this hiking tour!

My friends and I booked a private tour with Active Travel, had the most wonderful experience with Marian, our guide. He was absolutely accommodating in every way and chose two locations that were perfect for us. The scenery was breathtaking, and Marian was so knowledgeable, and shared so many interesting stories and historical facts with us. After our hike we finished up having lunch in a guest house which was arranged by Marian, and everything was perfect. Marian spoke with so much love and passion for the Carpathian’s and Romania, and is an advocate for ecotourism which we found inspiring. We recommend Active Travel and will def be back to Romania to book with them again.

As we made our way to Cetatea Rupea, Charlie shared fascinating historical insights about the fortress.He told us stories of the site's medieval significance,its strategic importance in the region and the various cultures that influenced its architecture.The panoramic view from the majestic fortress was magical,with rolling hills, stretching as far as the eye could see. Next,we ventured to the enchanting town of Sighișoara,a UNESCO World Heritage site.With its cobblestone streets and colourful buildings,it felt like stepping into a fairy tale.Charlie,expertly led us through the narrow alleys always giving us pertinent information about everything that was worth being mentioned about the sites that we visited on our wonderful trip. Our final destination was the picturesque village of Viscri,very famous for its traditional Saxon heritage.The thatched roof houses and serene countryside provided a perfect backdrop for reflection. By the end of the day,we have not only explored breathtaking sites,but also forged a bond with our guide and eachother.
