Great trip, very knowledgeable and helpful guide and we would definitely recommend! Bears were the main reason for our trip to Romania so we were very pleased to see 2 bears who were around for almost the entire time!

I had an amazing time with Charlie and the group. He was very knowledgable and charismatic. He really enjoyed what he was doing, which made the whole experience memorable. I will 100% recommend this trip and would recommend to add Pele's castle too as it's worth it.

This visit is very interesting, and our guide Alex gave us a lot of information about the magnificent Peles Castle and its historical context. Additionally, Alex was very kind and patient in answering all our questions.

This tour through the stunning nature of these mountains is extraordinary. Highly, highly recommended! And our experienced guide Bogdan has been quite a discovery! He’s a great person with extensive knowledge about mountaineering, adventure sports, survival, and the history of Romania. The journey was very enjoyable, and the day went by so quickly! And that’s despite us having taken over 30,000 steps, haha. The mealtime was delicious and very rejuvenating.

I recently had the privilege of hiking through the stunning Piatra Craiului mountains, and I cannot recommend our guide, Mihai, enough! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, sharing fascinating insights into the local environment, scenery, wildlife, and old legends. Mihai knew the trails very well, ensuring the group always felt safe, even on the more challenging paths. He also made sure everyone was comfortable with the hiking pace. I would highly recommend taking this hiking tour!

My friends and I booked a private tour with Active Travel, had the most wonderful experience with Marian, our guide. He was absolutely accommodating in every way and chose two locations that were perfect for us. The scenery was breathtaking, and Marian was so knowledgeable, and shared so many interesting stories and historical facts with us. After our hike we finished up having lunch in a guest house which was arranged by Marian, and everything was perfect. Marian spoke with so much love and passion for the Carpathian’s and Romania, and is an advocate for ecotourism which we found inspiring. We recommend Active Travel and will def be back to Romania to book with them again.

A wonderful day trip in the heart of Transylvania,with our wonderful guide, Charlie. On our recent day trip to the enchanting sites of Cetatea Rupea, Sighișoara and Viscri,we were fortunate to have an exceptional tour guide, Charlie,whose passion for the region enhanced our experience. From the moment we met him,it was clear we were in good hands.With a warm welcoming,he gave us a brief overview of the day's itinerary.His enthusiasm was catchy,setting a positive tone for the adventure ahead. As we made our way to Cetatea Rupea, Charlie shared fascinating historical insights about the fortress.He told us stories of the site's medieval significance,its strategic importance in the region and the various cultures that influenced its architecture.The panoramic view from the majestic fortress was magical,with rolling hills, stretching as far as the eye could see. Next,we ventured to the enchanting town of Sighișoara,a UNESCO World Heritage site.With its cobblestone streets and colourful buildings,it felt like stepping into a fairy tale.Charlie,expertly led us through the narrow alleys always giving us pertinent information about everything that was worth being mentioned about the sites that we visited on our wonderful trip. Our final destination was the picturesque village of Viscri,very famous for its traditional Saxon heritage.The thatched roof houses and serene countryside provided a perfect backdrop for reflection. By the end of the day,we have not only explored breathtaking sites,but also forged a bond with our guide and eachother. If you wish to experience the heart of Transylvania through the eyes of a passionate storyteller, Charlie is the guide you need,and not only a guide,but a very good driver! He turned a day trip into a journey of the heart and mind!

Alex was so knowledgeable about the history of Brasov and Romania, sharing his personal experiences growing up. So interesting and would highly recommend Alex and this tour.

Of course any review will be influenced by seeing bears or not and… …we did! Tiberio was our guide and was both hugely knowledgeable as well as giving a sense of calm as, of course, we were hoping to meet wild bears. We reached the hide and were very lucky as within ten minutes a male bear came into sight and must have stayed around for about 15-20 minutes (total guess as we were so absorbed). We were also visited by a pair of adolescent foxes. A fantastic evening and one we will always remember. Thank you!

We booked through Viator and had a tour from Dan who was fantastic! He arrived bang on time giving clear instructions on collection point. He was polite, really knowledgeable and passionate about the history which made it very interesting. We really enjoyed our tour, thank you 🙏

Dan was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide and gave us a brief tour & history of some of the area around the main square in Braşov before heading off to Rasnov Fortress, pointing out and giving us historical info about numerous places and sights on the way. Once st Bran Castle Dan was highly knowledgeable & passionate about the history of the castle but also Romanian history itself. A fascinating and very educational trip and Bran Castle is of course absolutely stunning.
