About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- H7837LDkatiel0 contributionsExcellent day exploring the Kornati - recommended!Absolutely brilliant day out with Annika and Ivan. From the start they were great: kind and helpful to my husband, who is on crutches. We were 16 on the boat from a variety of nationalities and it was good to chat, and hear each other's stories, backgrounds etc. The journey to and from the islands is almost 2 hours, so we had time to get to know our fellow passengers. There was plenty of room on the boat for us all. Breakfast was a decent-sized sandwich which was preceded with coffee and a welcome snifter of Slivovitz, for those that wanted. Fresh fruit and drinks were available all day. Our three stops were all interesting in different ways. Great snorkeling at stop 1, interesting and pretty church, and short hike up to the fort at stop 2, and a lovely fish lunch at stop 3. Beautiful scenery, good weather, great company and convivial hosts. Thank you, Annika and Ivan, and also to Lisa, Noemi, Susie, Jo, Arthur, Xavier et al, you were fab boat-mates! I wholeheartedly recommend this trip.Written September 25, 2023
- aspasiaMI0 contributionsCaveat EmptorA very unfortunate and unpleasant experience for me. Having said that this is heaven for college or after college on a budget folks, which reminded me of those drinking boat parties that I avoided at all cost even when I was younger. In perspective, this tour is appropriate for young college kids, family traveling on a budget, a low cost fun tour as such. However this is definitely not appropriate for those who prefer a boat trip that has ample space to sunbathe for solo travellers, prefer peace and professionalism as opposed to having a “tour guide” that is unable to offer basic customer service to its guest. The staff exudes unprofessionalism. Some points to support my overall experience are: . Check-in was professional, no doubts. . We started “sail” — it was still good, but I had my doubts, I felt it was too overcrowded, and we were packed like sardines seating in their space to listen to “instructions” — here I was wanting to simply sunbathe, finish my book, enjoy the beautiful landscape, and then some. . The lady tour guide asked about a “breakfast” baguette - who wanted ham, with cheese, without cheese, and then quickly turned away, as I did not get a chance to let her know, I did not prefer to have a sandwich. . She said after we are on route, feel free to go here there and everywhere. . I found a spot on the side of the boat towards the front to sunbathe and enjoy the scene in solitude. The boat was overpacked (contrary to the stated maximum guests in the tour description) with young fun drinking kids (no worries there, I used to be one of them), a loud family etc. etc. . After about an hour, she hands me a sandwich - “breakfast!” - I said, sorry no, not for me. In response she grunted huffed and puffed - as she walked away - “You should have told me!” I was truly shocked to have been scolded by a boat hostess/tour guide with rudeness, I was a paying guest. . At this point I realized it will be a long and annoying day. A few minutes later she rudely asked to move or get out of my space as it obstructs her ability to move around. I conceded and I moved to the rear of the boat. Few hours later I noticed another lady on the very same spot and the Mikado Hostess did not say anything (see attached photo). . There were many more instances of this lady's rudeness towards myself. The final point was the behaviour of the Hostess/Guide and the Skipper. During stops they would canoodle and at some point, the Captain left the steering wheel and was in warm embrace with this lady sitting on the front of a boat whilst I wondered, is the boat on autopilot like an airplane. Overall the experience felt like a Frat party with the Prom Queen and King as the main protagonist. To summarize, for those that look for a on budget boating experience with bottomless cheap wine-in-a-box included in the prices - this tour would be paradise. For those that are in their late 30s or 40s and above with discretionary funds to spend -- please rent a private boat - - or find a more expensive tour with less people, a decent customer service and one where you feel you are a guest and are being served upon. This Mikado Excursion's staff of two is like Captain and Tennille boat ride - where tour guide and captain seem to be in a honeymoon and you, the guests are simply paying for it!Written July 17, 2023
- Iain W0 contributionsMemorable day outReally good day out on the boat. The whole experience was great, from the simple but delicious lunch to the excellent guide and his guitar. This was all helped by copious amounts of wine. Great value for money and an unforgettable experience.Written August 20, 2020
- FMMUC0 contributionsAwesome DayThe tour was awesome. Our guide was the nicest and most friendly guy, always helpful and creating the best experience for his guests. Kornati was stunning. You would miss out if you don't go on this boat trip! Thanks a lot for a wonderful day.Written July 22, 2020
- Resort4796460 contributionsBeautiful CruiseI really enjoyed the cruise, even though it got quite adventurous at times due to the wind. I really liked that you could climb everywhere on the boat and just enjoy the sea. The boat is smaller than most cruising to Kornati, which I appreciated. The three stops were nice, although I expected a longer hiking break. I would also appreciate if the guide could tell us more about the islands. Good value for money though.Written August 25, 2019
- seeingwithmyheart0 contributionsUnforgettable experienceWe were so happy that all 5 of our group of 12 who chose to explore Kornati, absolutely loved it. The swim in the turquoise sea, the delicious lunch, comfortable boat and engaging host made our experience truly perfect. Thank you... and can’t wait to do this again next time I bring a group of American travelers!Written July 4, 2019
- mikck m0 contributionsVery nice boat tourIt's a nice day trip. After a little intro you can self serve drinks like water cola and orange. You receive a breakfast roll. Then a stop at the church . A second stop to swim at a lovely area and finally the lunch stop with swimming. The only downside is they didn't point out the crosses or any info as we were travelling. And the no stop did not happen even tho it was on the board. Otherwise q great dayWritten August 7, 2018
- Veronique N0 contributionsQuite boring tripTrip was quite boring.. boat was very slow so we had a trip of at least 2,5 hour each way. Drinks were quite poor, but lunch was ok. Not much explanations about the islands or sight seeing. By the end of the day I had the feeling, I travelled the whole day instead of a nice excursion.Written August 4, 2018
- Guoda P0 contributionsPerfectAn absolutely amazing 5/5 trip. I'd recommend to anyone. A stunning destination, excellent organisation and great price value. The food was delicious and included in the price too.Written July 26, 2018
- Apie440 contributionsGreat day for our familyWe had a wonderful day with our 10 and 12 year old daughters on this boat trip. We enjoyed the small group (15 including us) of international guests and the tour guide was super nice. Plenty food and drink and the 3 stops were incredibly beautiful. We enjoyed snorkeling, exploring and jumping of the top deck of the boat. While the boat ride was long (2 hours each way,) we got to know the other people and could move around the boat freely. Great day, highly recommended!Written July 3, 2018
- Kat11310 contributionsGreat day out on the Kornati! We had a wonderful day on this tour. Pros: -Relatively small group size; only around 14 on board (You'd be hard pressed to get that anywhere else) -beautiful stops in the Kornati; -Lunch was fresh and delicious; -Plenty of time for swimming at the first and third stop; -great value; -Even being on the boat just watching the scenery was very enjoyable and relaxing Cons: -the amount of time for the second stop was only 25minutes which made it very hard to explore the old fort. My fiancé scaled the fort and had to run back down at breakneck speed to make the boat. Would definitely recommend! 😄Written August 28, 2017
- schoralekmichal0 contributionsGreat day on boat!Whole day trip on smaller, nice a clean boat with enough space for everybody, toilet on board. There were only 12 clients on board, very calm vs. bigger crowded boats. Coffee, sendwich just after departure, unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, delicious fish with sidedish as a dinner in small idyllic harber in Kornatti. Swimming around the boat in the beautiful bay with flock of fishes around. Despite the way from Zadar to Kornatti is 2 hours long and the boat visits just part of the islands, the trip was great and I would recomend it to my friends, we have spent a beautiful day with there with kids.Written August 24, 2017
- Smith W0 contributionsBest boat tripVery relaxing day on the sea on Mikado boat. We enjoyed it. Swiming and snorkeling in cristal clear water with so many fish. On boat was only 14 people, much better than on biger boat with 100-200 people. Frendly crew and clean boat. I realy recommend this boat trip!Written August 22, 2017
- emjg240 contributionsVery disappointed! My boyfriend and I organised to go to Kornati. The date we wanted there was no room so another boat was organised with some other people. We paid €100 and we were very disappointed with our experience. We didn't go to any of the places that were listed on the website- we stopped twice in remote areas so there was nothing to do except swim. But we saw none of the sights that were listed on the website. We stopped for half an hour for the crew to get food- we were told nothing about what they were doing or where they were going. Neither spoke much English- there was no introduction or "this is what you're doing today." It was very unprofessional and they smoked the whole trip. It was boring and definitely not value for money! The food was good as it was cooked onboard but the website said that we would be visiting a restaurant. If I put a price on the experience I would have only paid €30 not €100. Complete waste of time!Written August 15, 2017
- Wei Sheng L0 contributionsRelaxing boat trip to KornatiOne major plus point for Mikado tours is that the number of people on board is only limited to 14 people per trip. The staff on board are nice and we really enjoyed the tour. There were three stops during the tour and one of which is snorkeling. We loved it as the water was extremely clear and there were alot of fishes.Written August 2, 2017

Lovely day out on the sea. Boat about 3/4 full so room to move about. Staff were cheerful, helpful and engaged the passengers in the trip. Yes the food and wine are a bit basic which is not unusual for this type of trip but it was served promptly and there was plenty of it!
First stop was a stony beach in a cove but the sea was crystal clear and the bottom was sandy. We were first to arrive so plenty room until another boat appeared about 40 mins later. I would think this beach would be very crowded in the high season. There is a nice walk to a cross at the top of a small hill (easy climb) with good views if you want to have less time at the beach.
Next stop at some interesting ruins and the opportunity for cliff diving. Choices between 2-5m, at your own risk of course.
Third stop at an island village which was very modern and tbh could be anywhere.
Plenty of time at sea with scope for dolphin watching which was successful that day!
I think any island cruise is likely to be busy in peak season but if you are going out of season I would recommend this company. Always ask for a discount though😃

Very nice expedition!!
The landscapes were magnificent, with oral explanations from our guide.
Our hosts were super friendly, the welcome was warm.
Embarking in a small boat with a small group of people allows you to make the most of the expedition.
The different stops are just magnificent.
There is good value for money because the meal is included in the excursion, you can move around as you wish on the boat and drinks and fruit are unlimited.
Excursion which would be repeated with great pleasure!!

Magnificent day aboard the Mikado. Here, no big boat crowded with people with a guide who repeats his speech to you on the microphone! But a small boat, a small group of people, and our 2 hosts, a warm, almost family welcome, we are allowed to move around as we want on the boat, help ourselves to unlimited drinks and fruit in the cabin. where our pilot host. And what about the stops! We take in the views, it’s magnificent! The swimming break with a direct dive from the upper deck of the boat is just great! I recommend and I will go back!!!

In Croatia you always have to be VERY careful about small scams devised ad hoc. Excursions to the islands are one of those cases: I strongly advise against referring to the stalls you find everywhere along the coast in Zadar, because they sell you things that don't exist and then the ones who pay the consequences for your discontent are the guys who bring the boats , which have absolutely nothing to do with it because the management is separate.
€70 per person for supposedly 3 stops in the highlights of the Kornati, but in reality there were 2 stops of which only the first in a relevant place (for less than 2 hours), and the second in a place of villas for boat holidaymakers who there was very little that was fascinating or useful for the purposes of an excursion. The sad thing is always having to watch your back everywhere, especially in the city, where not even people are capable of managing tourists (getting a smile from them is no mean feat).
In essence, Croatia is a land blessed by God from an environmental point of view, but plagued by very less than honest people who immediately understood that joining the euro means cheating others in truly ridiculous ways (see 33cl of water at 2 €70, for example).
If you really have to go there, avoid the most well-known cities like the plague and perhaps dedicate yourself to exploring on your own, don't rely on them because they will fleece you without any mercy.

The trip was absolutely phenomenal! Group was not too large to be overwhelming, about 15 people which made for a great number, the views of kornati were fantastic, the swimming was great (i’ve never seen such clear blue water) and the food was also amazing! There was information given about each stop’s history which we really enjoyed, and the environment was so relaxed. Between swimming, sunbathing, a small walk, and everything in between, none of it felt rushed or anything. Had a great time!!

We took the road to the islands, certainly 2h30 by boat but the view is incredible. Time passes very quickly. You start the day with a little snap, just to relax everyone. You directly have the opportunity to eat fruit (banana, nectarine, peach, apple), you are also offered a coffee. Around 10 a.m. we offer you a sandwich with cheese and/or salami. You have unlimited drinks, water, soft drinks and wine. Beer costs money.
On our way, we came across a group of dolphins, at least 15, on the way out and on the way back, the captain slowed down or stopped to give us time to admire them.
The stops are ideal, swimming, visiting the church and the fort with a breathtaking view. We then eat simply, the fish was good. For the price, it's unbeatable and we are in a small group, it's really ideal, I recommend!

The hike is very beautiful, wonderful landscapes. Crew attentive to needs, friendly and full of attention (fresh fruit and drinks always available, welcome coffee)
Very punctual, pleasant journey, very good lunch and attentive to needs. We are vegetarians and the dish that arrived had nothing to envy compared to meat or fish dishes.
The boat is not large and therefore few people with enough space on board to enjoy the crossing.

There are several boats which offer this excursion... But only one (the MIKADO) which allows you to make it an unforgettable memory... We had reserved the whole boat (group of 17), very relaxed atmosphere, very friendly welcome from from the young couple who run this small business,...Breakfast, fruit, drinks available free of charge and, bonus, a small glass of a very...invigorating local alcohol...! The Kornati site is superb, the different stopovers offered (swimming, short hike and the restaurant) allow you to spend a great day...The water is as blue as in the photos, the fish brush past us, a real change of scenery... To be done without hesitation...!

Long trip for low wow-factor.
First stop nice but snorkeling can also be done on other places closer then Kornati.
2nd stop ok but no direct link found with the fact you are at Kornati. We did not see a single sheep or goat 🤭.
3rd stop lunch was ok but swimming time on this location too long. There was not really much to see.
In total the boat trip where nothing happens takes 5 hours. The 2h30 back was really too much (especially when you are surpassed by all other excursions in faster boats 🧐)

Amazing trip! The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Service on the boat was perfect, providing you with drinks, fresh fruit, and food. The boat had a few other people on board, so it wasn't overcrowded at all. The trip was well planned out and was a great day trip. The weather was beautiful, and the water was crystal clear and amazing to swim in. Would definitely recommend if looking to spend a day exploring Kornati!
