- You will get a life jacket , a helmet and a paddle, plus long neoprene suit and a rain jacket in case of cold weather. Waterproof containers are available for personal items (camera, drinks, etc.). Don’t forget to bring shorts or a bathing suit, a T-shirt, water shoes, a towel, sun cream and water. In case of colder weather take a long-sleeved shirt.
- Weather - the summers are typically warm and sunny. From May to October temperatures are comfortable for hiking, paddling, and swimming. Rain is always a possibility in Croatia so it is essential to bring adequate rain wear and a jacket in case of inclement weather. In the unlikely case of extreme weather conditions we will reschedule the activity for a day or two prior or after the date booked, if possible. If the rescheduling is not possible, the payments will be refunded in full.

I don't know why this isn't more highly discussed as an activity for people visiting the Plivitice area. We were thankful for the wetsuits and booties for the trip, since the sun did not make an appearance. Suggest for all of you visiting the area - to add this ~4 hour adventure on! Our guide was great and provided us history about the area and took river safety seriously. If you go, be sure to bring your own water (have it with you when you arrive) and bring your own food. They provide a dry container for your to bring your things in. Consider croakies for your sunglasses (we didn't need them b/c no sun) and a drybag for your camera to be able to get some great photos/videos of the adventure!Written September 15, 2024

Very professional company, taking great care of the customers, superb canyon, nice and easy falls (but if you are scary you can walk around). Only reason I haven’t rated it as 5 is due to other companies including photos whereas ours didn’t and seemed rushed for time . We finished at 2 (instead of 3) which seemed to be to allow the company to take another group at 3. A beautiful day out, but spoilt by the size and number of groups, and the fairly disinterested guides. I would say you have to be reasonably fit to do this if you’re taking a child, as the last part is a bit of a slog against the wind. We did enjoy most of it, but the bad points were:
Some of the group were drinking beer continually from the start of the day, not great for the children to see them getting drunk so early in the day, and then were colliding with us going down the rapids. At one point we ended up stuck across the river with a boat on top of us (and on top of my wrist!) as they had come down straight behind us, which was dangerous.
The group was so big we were bouncing each other down the river and it was hard work to keep out of the others way (especially the drunk ones). The guides didn’t seem bothered. Minimal interaction from them, although they were very good at helping you down the rapids.
The big waterfall halfway down looked beautiful but we unfortunately didn’t get to stop to have even a brief look as there were so many other people on the river. There was no rock jumping, but we did get a swim at lunchtime.
At the end we finished in a shabby smelly shack of a cafe where we had to wait ages for the drivers to go and pick up the car - not the nice cafe with a beach by the river that the guide promised. The usual format where you drop your car off at the end point is much better.
All in all we had a nice day as the river is very beautiful, but the commercialism of the size of the group left a bad feeling. Maybe would try a different operator next time (especially one that finished with your car). Would give it 3.5 if I could.

Our 3 guides were fantastic. One took the lead and was funny, relaxed and confident, while the two others were attentive to the large group, quickly spotting problems (inexperienced paddlers in need of extra tuition) or standing at the top of waterfalls to shave your canoe down the right line. Their work to get the group safely through the canyon was nonstop.
For me, the quantity of wildlife was overwhelming: clouds of passerines, whole banks of toad-lets, swarms of demoiselles and stealthy water-snakes. Croatia’s Zrmanja canyon is abundant … for now. Very little attention was given to this by the guides, which was fine by me, safety was their number 1 priority.
The river was gentle for us with the inflatable canoes being perfectly designed to shepherd 30 novice tourists down through the waterfalls. A safe and rewarding experience.

It was a really great experience to kayak down this river. Even with the lower water level, the river gave enough variation of rapids, waterfalls but also the easier parts to just relax and enjoy.
Our guide was a charm, giving short stories along the river to give that little extra local touch. We are a family with 3 teens so my wife had the pleasure to join the kayak of the guide and had a wonderful trip down the river. Not an inch of stress during and after the trip :)

We had an amazing experience! Tour guides were great and the tour was such good value for money! Tour lasts 4.5 hrs. Quite a lot of canoeing if you have smaller children. Would recommend shoes or waterproof shoes as there is a bit where you walk across rocks in the middle. You also get really wet so would where swimming gear - I wore shorts which was a mistake! Would deffo do again! For a half day tour, it took a large amount of the day - we started at 10:30 and got back to the car around 16:00. So bear in mind if you want to do anything else with the day.

Great nature and perfect setting for kayaking. Beautiful rapids and small waterfalls. Unfortunately too many people/ group (> 10, 2 p kayaks) and way too many groups at the same time on the water. Smoking was also allowed during the breaks!!!! 🤬 so forget enjoying clear air...

Dear Aniasad, thank you for taking the time to write this review. We appreciate your feedback. Our groups are up to 15 boats maximum, and as it is high season (and thus high demand) we try our best to serve every guest while not creating a big crowd. There are three operators, and each has its own group, so while we can influence the size of our groups - we can't influence other companies.
As for smoking - we can't ban smoking in an open space for our guests or other people visiting the area, as it would be limiting personal freedom. We do, however, stress the importance of preserving nature, so we advise against littering or cigarette butt throwing in nature. Smoking is prohibited during the activity, and that's as much as we can do.
We hope that you had a wonderful trip and a nice stay in Croatia :)

This trip on the Zrmanja was a real adventure for our small, diverse group. Even though we weren't that skilled in the boats, we still had a lot of fun. The guides explained everything really well beforehand, and the equipment was selected and adjusted to suit everyone. They were also helpful during the tour with their friendly, humorous manner and ultimately distributed the crew of our little "problem boat" to their own kayaks.
The Zrmanja with its crystal-clear water, the rapids and waterfalls are breathtaking. The entire environment is magnificent and always invites you to let your eyes wander.

we took the Tour with Tin jr. He was a really friendly, funny and helpfull guide, who made sure everybody enjoyed the adventure. it was a good mixture of active and relaxing moments. the nature was stunning, the break we took next to a beautiful hidden waterfall, were we also had a oportunity to take a swim.

Nice tour on a river with beautiful views of nature..... good guidance. The trip took 4.5 - 5 hours. The price was 50 euros per person, so a good amount for those 5 hours.

My sister did this tour a few years ago and recommended it and I’m so glad I i did it! Dan was our guide and did a great job moving us at a reasonable pace and making sure we were all safe and having fun. Two breaks to get out of the kayak. Bring a snack and water. If you are a super experienced kayaker or looking for a strenuous workout, may not be a good trip for you.

Enjoyed blissful weather and no winds with an incredible kayak along the river and through the canyon. Special shout out to two amazing tour guides (on 4/9/22) who took us off the river to swim and dive in an amazing waterfall and jump off 6m cliffs with all round good chat. Highly highly recommend for a really really amazing day!! Highlight of trip

We are a couple and w'd like to make the Safari on the Zrmanja River tomorrow, if the weather is suitable for it...but we have a few questions.
Do we have to pay extra to enter the Zrmanja Park? Is there a free parking lot at the Startpoint?
