- cindymX8294UA0 contributionsSpellbinding Storytelling! Our flight to Dubrovnik was delayed but Vesna did her absolute best to accommodate our schedule. Vesna was personable, knowledgeable and gracious. She gave us an excellent tour of Dubrovnik which provided a first hand account of the war in 1991. Prior to that time, we really had not known that much about it. It was truly fascinating, if not heartbreaking. We all enjoyed the tour very much and highly recommend it, if you are into history.Written November 27, 2024
- estherJ210 contributionsThank you KarmenKarmen gave us a wonderful introduction to Dubrovnik perfectly tailored to children, and made sure I could bring the stroller for my youngest. Although my two girls were incredibly shy and didn't talk the whole time, all Karmen's commentary all went in and they were captivated. I have been amused to hear from my daughter's teacher that when she went back to school she educated her whole class on the history of Dubrovnik, the Saint, why there are cats etc. The school were impressed and I said it was our fantastic tour guide! Karmen also took us into a fun Christmas shop, and to a handful of other stops including a great craft beer bar that made my husbands day, and also gave us great advice. Thank you Karmen for doing one final tour for us at the end of your season.Written November 8, 2024
- Jet010286441390 contributionsBest tour of Old Town Dubrovnik!Karmen with Withlocals.com was great on so many levels! She has a personality plus and is extremely knowledgeable about Croatia, Dubrovnik and Old Town. In addition to the tour, she gave us great restaurant recommendations, best places to shop for different things and places to avoid. I'd recommend her for any type of tour, history, culture, food and wine or Game of Thrones spots. She does it all!Written September 14, 2024
- Rachel C0 contributionsGreat Day With Locals and our guide JureWow, what a wonderful day with Jure! He is a historian, as am I, and he did an amazing job. We had a few Game of Thrones fans in our group of 5 and he included many facts into the history tour especially for them. He was kind, funny and informative. He gave great restaurant and museum recommendations throughout the tour and made us feel very welcome to the city! Highly recommend this tour and especially with Jure!Written September 12, 2024
- Jessica J0 contributionsAmazing Tour! It is a “MUST DO”!Karmen is irrefutably one of the Best guides we have ever had in our travels. She was incredibly interesting, informative, and just so knowledgeable about everything Croatian and the surrounding area, not to mention just a really enjoyable, nice person. She adjusted the tour based on our interests. She also recommended fabulous restaurant and a wine bar for tastings. She took us to fabulous little shops that had really high-quality items. I cannot recommend Carmen enough. I can guarantee that a tour with Karmen will be a highlight of your trip!Written September 2, 2024
- allysonh4010 contributionsWonderful guide.Vesna gave us a very objective view of the Homeland war. And her own living experience gave us a realistic view of the politics and the day to day difficulties during that time. As well as describing the ancient history. We were both extremely impressed by her knowledge and delivery and she answered all our questions very comprehensively. We would highly recommend a tour with Vesna.Written August 16, 2024
- Stephanie N0 contributionsFun and interesting tour of Dubrovnik! We had a brilliant time with Karmen today! Even though our kids (12, 10 and 7) put on a good show of being sleepy and weary, she brought them to life gradually with her kindness and fun personality. My daughter compared her to Mary Poppins 😂 We learned so much about the city, without it being boring, and she happily accommodated other places we were keen to see - her flexibility was also appreciated when we had to rearrange the tour due to sickness. We would highly recommend this tour with Karmen!Written August 14, 2024
- emmanuellecU9505VB0 contributionsKnowledgable and engagingWe had a great tour with Jore. He managed to convey the complexity of the war while making it clearer for us. Really great - highly recommended. Our 2 teenagers were engaged as well which is fantastic- thank youWritten August 11, 2024
- 457jg0 contributionsPerfect morning stroll through DubrovnikKarmen was such a wonderful guide! She met us by a fountain on one side of the city, then guided our family through, pausing for interesting stories and unique finds. We loved that we were able to customize the tour more for our needs—traveling with a 5-year-old and a (hungry!) 1-year-old. She was even understanding as our toddler had a market side meltdown, suddenly starving… and laughed as he downed an entire carton of strawberries. We ended with ice cream, but didn’t want to say goodbye to Karmen. Couldn’t like her more! ThanksWritten August 5, 2024
- MarcelaNagy0 contributionsAmazingKarem was an absolute star! We had a great time learning all about the history of Dubrovnik and Croatia, with all the fun facts. Karem was very patient, answering all of our million questions, showing us around the beautiful city of Dubrovnik and all its hidden gems. Super tour! Highly recommend it!Written July 13, 2024
- 7will70 contributionsMia guide with locals DubrovnikI really enjoyed my tour with Mia. Once she found out that I had replacement knees, she designed the tour around my limited capabilities Whilst giving me and extensive tour of the old town, she avoided us climbing excessive steps. I enjoyed her company and her vast knowledge of the subject. I feel like i understand the Croatian culture better as a result of my tour. Mia tries very hard to ensure you have fun and enjoy your time with her. I would definitely recommend her to you.Written July 11, 2024

Mia’s tour was the best way to begin our time in Dubrovnik! Hearing her insights about the history, the Old Town and the war was so interesting and helped us understand the city more. Mia was so patient with our kids as well and answered all our questions, accommodated any breaks we needed and was all-around fun to be with. As a bonus, she shared many recommendations for what to do and where to eat in Dubrovnik and beyond. We absolutely recommend booking a tour with Mia, ideally at the beginning of your trip but you will have a great time no matter when you do it!

We enjoyed our walking tour and would recommend anyone takes it as early in the morning as possible due to the heat and crowds. We met at 8:30am and by the time the tour finished it was hot and crowded.
Eliana is very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of interesting information about the history of Dubrovnik and the area as we wandered around the Old Town. She was friendly and helpful, answering any questions we had with ease.
Eliana was thoughtful and often guided us away from the crowds to discover lots of interesting sights of the Old Town where she would give us a detailed explanation of what we were seeing.

If you’re planning a trip to Dubrovnik, booking a tour with Karmen is an absolute must! Karmen is, without a doubt, one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Her deep knowledge of Dubrovnik’s history, culture, and architecture made every moment of the tour fascinating. She has a way of weaving facts and stories together that brings the city’s rich past to life, making you feel like you’re walking through time.
Karmen’s enthusiasm is infectious—she’s clearly passionate about her work and the city she calls home. She was incredibly attentive to our needs, ensuring everyone was comfortable and engaged throughout the tour. Whether she was explaining the history behind the city walls, sharing intriguing legends, or pointing out hidden gems that most visitors would miss, Karmen kept us captivated the entire time.
What really sets Karmen apart is her talent for storytelling. Her ability to blend historical facts with colorful anecdotes kept us all on the edge of our seats. Her engaging style made the tour not just informative, but also incredibly entertaining. By the end of the tour, we felt like we had gained a friend who truly wanted us to appreciate Dubrovnik as much as she does.
If you want to experience Dubrovnik in a way that’s both educational and fun, Karmen’s tour is the way to go. It’s an experience that goes far beyond just sightseeing—it’s a deep dive into the heart and soul of this beautiful city. Highly recommended!

We had both limited time in Dubrovnik and limited knowledge of Croatia. Danijela made the history of Dubrovnik and Croatia as a whole come alive in a warm and engaging manner. She taught us so much in two hours (though this barely scratched the surface of her depth of knowledge). She also led us away from the hordes of tourists and showed us the magic of a quieter part of the city. Given the time and opportunity, we would be eager to learn more from her. Highly recommended!

We loved our tour with Karmen. The meeting point instructions were clear and easy to find. Karmen was really welcoming and friendly and took time to get to know us. She showed us some off the main track spots for coffee and meals, showed us round the old town and the best point to access the walls, best places to see in our 3 days and suggested an itinerary as the weather forecast was changeable. It was a really good way to start our short break and saved us a lot of time working out what to do and where to go. I can’t recommend her highly enough, well worth the price and such a lovely personal way to get to know a city.

Karmen met us right outside the walls of Dubrovnik - she communicated clearly, was easy to find, easy to speak with and knowledgeable of Dubrovnik. Her English was excellent. She made the tour fun and interesting for our 3 kids (ages 9, 12, 14) - showed us hidden swimming spots, taught us some history and fun facts about the city and even worked in a stop for some 'sladoled'. At the end, she helped us with some local food recommendations and went out of her way to get us some recommendations for restaurants in Rovinj for later in our trip. Definitely would recommend.

My husband and I organized an evening walking tour with Eliana (Eli) and really enjoyed learning unusual facts about the old city. Highlights included hearing about the unusually high number of convents in the city, the revolving alley door of the orphanage, and a hidden entrance to an area called "On the Rocks." Our favorite spots were the monastery and the oldest running pharmacy. Eliana was very friendly and knowledgeable and adapted the tour to our interests. We would not hesitate to go on another tour with her, highly recommended!

Vlaho was an excellent tour guide! He walked us through the old town while explaining the history of this beautiful city and also giving us a taste of local life. He kept our teenage sons fully engaged and was able to answer all of their questions about a myriad of topics.

Danijela our guide was terrific. She was not only knowledgeable about the artefacts (buildings, places, etc), she brought in the people and culture of the region to help explain how Dubrovnik and Croatia had evolved over time. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and recommend Danijela

My mother is an active and knowledgeable 83 year old and would like a small tour of the city. She know alot about european history, but would like to know more about Dubrovniks history. But she will not want to walk fast or too far and to keep away from the crowds too. Would you be able to guide her, myself and 24 yr son around? Thank you Caroline
