The first stop is a small, family-owned oyster farm where you will have the opportunity to taste some of the best oysters in the world! Also, our first wine tasting will be there with an introduction to wine tasting by WSET with basic food and wine matching principles (to get you fully prepared for more wines and food). Next, you will see the medieval historic town of Ston, famous for the second longest protective wall in the world (after Chinese Wall) and oldest salt factory of that kind in the world! After that, you will visit 2 great wineries, meet very interesting winemakers who are making world class wines and have master class tastings with some of them. Beautiful tour of the countryside outside of Dubrovnik. We were taken to a good variety of wineries after starting the day with a lovely boat trip to the oyster farm and being introduced to wine pairing. Mario is friendly, easy to chat to and knowledgable. Must be good at his job because we both thought we knew something about wine by the end of it!
We would really recommend, he has adjusted to the coronavirus restrictions by offering private tours at the normal group price so even more reason to book ! The website attached to these tours is dubrovnik wine tasting.

Fantastic tour!
This is much more than just a tour of wineries; Mario offers an insight into the history of Dubrovnik and Croatia more generally. Starting with a little trip out on a boat to have freshly shucked oysters (the freshest we'd ever had and obviously as fresh as possible) with wine for "breakfast" was an outstanding start to the day. From there, we visited a number of wineries and Mario described in depth the fundamental aspects of grading wine (from bad, good, outstanding and top class) and helped us to understand the different tasting notes and how to differentiate these in your mouth - this is something we understood vaguely, but Mario really took it to another level for us.
I hate to describe our experience like a CV, but we've been on a lot of wine tours around the world (Margaret River, Marlborough, Napa vValley and Tuscany to name a few) and this tour was equal to the best tour we've had (which was the Bourgogne Gold Tour in France) and probably beat it for history and context, at a fraction of the price.
I note some people moaned about the lunch being extra cost, but it was also outstanding and really a bargain, eating wonderful seafood and drinking lovely wine (with complimentary grappa) down by the ocean for 30 euro pp. The host at the lunch was a really nice guy too, so it was really pleasant.
I can't recommend this tour enough. It was personalised, Mario was very knowledgeable and we discovered that Croatia has a real depth and quality of wines that we didn't realise at all!

Phenomenal tour. As a casual wine drinker and avid restaurant goer, I learned so much more about wine and the food industry just within the first 30 mins. Our tour started with a boat ride to harvest fresh farmed oysters that we had for breakfast to pair with our first tasting of the day. There was no way we thought our tour guide, Mario, who is a former restaurant owner and incredibly credentialed expert on wine, would be able to make the experience better but we were wrong. The tour and day got better with each stop that featured very interesting wines, personal stories of the family-owned vineyards, and incredibly tasty and interesting choices of local cheeses. Our tour ended with a midday lunch at a local restaurant native to Croatia’s wine region that featured freshly caught fish grilled by the owner-fisherman and a quick tour of the kitchen followed by a short drive to walk around the iconic Ston village. Mario’s relationships with the local vineyards and restaurateurs surely make for a varied and interesting experience.

Due to the lack of tourists in Dubrovnik, I had the opportunity for a private wine tour with Mario in early September. As someone who works in the wine industry in the U.S., it was a true pleasure to spend the day with Mario receiving an incredible overview of the grapes grown and wines produced in the peljesac pennisula in Croatia. We began the day visting an oyster farm where we tasted oysters fresh from the sea on the boat paired with wine. Not a huge fan of oyster's, I'll try anything and I'll say they were quite tasty. We then had three different tasting with three vastly different wineries, providing a lovely overview of the wine history of the region. I then enjoyed a three course lunch at a beautiful restaurant by the sea before stopping in Ston, a sleepy historic town before we made our way back to Dubrovnik. Mario is an engaging host who knows his wine and the region very well. I'll definitely be in touch when I return to Croatia hopefully sooner than later! Thank you for a fantastic day! Highly recommend if you find yourself in Dubrovnik and want to explore the local wines!

We enjoyed the tour in Sept 2021 with two other couples, and our tour guide, Mario. Mario was so nice and extremely knowledgeable of wine (and food and spirits too). The tour itself was perfectly paced, and so enjoyable starting on an oyster farm, tastings at two small wineries and one large winery, an amazing lunch, and a peaceful break in the historic town of Ston. We are glad to have booked the full day tour, but if you are short on time, even the half day would be worth it (one of the couples in our group did the half day). Looking forward to joining future virtual tastings with Mario, given how impressed we were with this knowledge of wine

This was such a great experience. Not only do you taste amazing wines and food, but you get to spend the day with Mario who is so knowledgeable about the industry. He taught us exactly what to do with all wines and how they’re made. We saw several beautiful wineries and had fresh oysters straight from the sea while enjoying a boat ride. Would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in wine (however big or small).

I picked Mario’s wine tour as it was highly recommended by a friend. He picked us up in Dubrovnik at 9am and took us to 3 wineries for a tasting (with generous pours!), a quick stop in Ston and an oyster tasting on a boat that also included wine. We also finished off with a 3 course meal which he pre-ordered for us at a restaurant by the water. One of the freshest seafood meals I’ve ever had. The meal included a bottle of wine to share with my husband and our friend. Mario was very knowledgeable in food and wine and made the experience one of the best wine tours I’ve been on. It was well catered and personal which I appreciated.

The combination of trying literally freshly shucked oysters off a boat with a wine pairing was a once in a lifetime experience. Croatian wide is highly underrated, and Mario is an excellent guide to bring the region and varietals in this unique region to life. We also had an excellent lunch and great time exploring Ston. We were with one other couple, which was the right/preferred size for us, and the day ended up being one of our highlights in Dubrovnik.

Mario took us on a fun, educational trip along the oyster and wine country of the Peljesac Peninsula. We had three really nice, private wine tastings, a visit to Ston, and the oysters straight off the line. All along the way, Mario taught us about wine the region. I know stuff about wine, but I learned a lot of what I thought was wrong! A highlight of our trip!

The guide was extremely knowledgeable about wines, and the tour was overall an amazing experience. I learned a lot about wines and especially how they should be matched with different foods. We also tried fresh oysters on the tour which was a unique experience!

I have several questions and would like to speak with the tour operator. One question is are children (11) allowed on the tour? We are staying at the Dubrovnik Palace, is that included in the pick up region. What are the start and end times? How many people are in the tour?
