Highlights
  • See many of Montenegro’s top attractions in the space of a single day
  • Round-trip transit from your Dubrovnik hotel via air-conditioned vehicle
  • A private tour offers the most flexible and personalized way to travel
  • Visit Budva, Perast, UNESCO-listed Kotor, and more
What to expect
  • Begin the tour by getting picked up at your central Dubrovnik hotel and then head out of the city via comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. Enjoy the view of the Adriatic and the Dubrovnik Riviera and the rural Konavle region, as your guide drives the van and gives you background on the history of Montenegro, a diminutive and overlooked Balkan country.  After crossing the border, ride along the coast roads, which curve around bay after bay. Admire the beautiful Bay of Kotor, Europe’s southernmost fjord, and stop in the village of Risan for a photo opportunity and to stretch your legs.  Later, hop out of the van to explore Perast. Stroll the streets and learn about the devastating earthquake that rocked the village in the 1970s, destroying much of the medieval town. Take in some of the Gothic and baroque buildings and then get on a boat to cruise out to a tiny island to check out the Church of Our Lady of the Rocks (at own expense).  After a boat ride back, get back in the van and ride to Kotor. The walled city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a fun stroll. Pop into the Cathedral of St. Tryphon and take some time to explore on your own. Travel south and stop at the island of Sveti Stefan, once a medieval fishing village, linked by a short isthmus to the mainland. It is now a luxury hotel.  Finally, head on to Budva, a walled city on the sea, sort of like a mini Dubrovnik. Drink in the views of the sea and take some time to relax on the beach or walk the narrow lanes inside the walls.  After some free time to explore, meet the guide at the prearranged time and start your journey back to Dubrovnik. Enjoy one last delight—a ferry crossing along the Bay of Kotor—and then finish your tour in the late afternoon back at your hotel.

Great Tour!
Dec 2021
We went in the off season. Crossing the border was a matter of minutes. Or guide, Ivan, was excellent and very knowledgable.

The boats in Perast were not running in December, but it was still a cute town. We had a great time exploring the somewhat tumbledown fort in Kotor, and would have been happy spending a whole day there. Budvah was nice too.

Highly recommend.

Andrew was a tremendous host and very knowledgeable about the region we visited. He was both informational and entertaining which made for a wonderful day. The area and towns we visited were beautiful and unique. It was well worth the time.

Thank you so much!

Great day visiting Montenegro with an excellent tour guide!
We had a really nice day visiting Perast, Kotor and Budva. You don’t have enough time in any of the locations, but that can’t be helped. It is a 12 hour day already. The border crossing was relatively easy as we were all vaccinated, otherwise you have to have a Covid test. Dana (sp) was an excellent driver and tour guide!

Lovely Trip to the Beautiful Kotor of Montenegro
Jul 2019
We had a private tour and it was a splendid tour. The journey from Dubrovnik to Kotor was interesting and beautiful scenery along the way. My family loved the tour because we were able to spend a lovely time to have some coffee breaks at the Bay of Kotor and a good seafood lunch in Budva.

Montenegro Full day tour from Dubrovnik
The guide was friendly, informative & knowledgeable.
She was quite flexible as the weather was very bad (torrential rain in Kotor & flooding on the way to Budva). She was quite patient to wait for the rain to somewhat subside for us to take pictures.
As we did not proceed to Budva due to the flood, we got an extra 1.5 hours in Kotor to explore the church up the fortress, as we turned back from Budva.

Wonderful day
Our driver and guide, Robert, was so considerate, sensitive to the needs of two seniors who had certain things in mind to see. We saw everything we wanted and it was a relaxing easy day. He even stopped at a bakery on our return as we wanted some fresh bread for the morning. His English is so good I forgot that I wasn't speaking to a native speaker of English. Be answered all our questions and was full of great information. From booking to pick up and drop off at our Airbnb, everything went perfectly.

Awful Trip - Don't Use this Tour Group!
Sep 2019
Our group of 4 paid $175/person for what we thought was a ‘private’ all day trip starting at 8am. Shortly before the trip we were informed to meet the van at 630am, which didn’t allow us breakfast beforehand. Upon meeting the van, we discovered 4 others were also on the trip and we were relegated to the last seat which was quite difficult to get in/out of. The guide/driver was a young college student from another country who didn’t introduce himself or the group to each other. The driver remained silent for the first hour, then spoke so softly we couldn’t hear anything he said. He wasn’t equipped with a microphone—we asked him many times to speak up to no avail. We brought snacks for the early morning departure but the driver said we weren’t allowed to eat in the van. In each of the 3 towns we visited, he dropped us off and we were on our own, except in Kotor where a local guide was provided. The last stop, Budva was a total waste of time. The food at the restaurant the driver took us to was so greasy we couldn’t eat it. By then we were so disappointed we didn’t explore that town—just waited until the driver showed up a couple hours later to take us back to Dubrovnik. We had excellent guides with other tour groups during our vacation, but this was a terrible experience.

Terrible Experience, Lovely Towns and Scenery
Sep 2019
The tour is advertised to start at 8 am. However, our group of 4 was told to meet the driver and van at 6:50 am. Our "driver/guide" was a college student who was totally unprepared to guide (no complaints about the driving). He had very little knowledge to share. (He told us that he had been working about 20 straight days.) Not until about 45-50 minutes into the drive (when we reached Montenegro) did he start to speak. And then he could not be heard by some of us in the van although we repeatedly asked him to speak louder. After a while, we just gave up. He dropped us off in the three towns and we were on our own (a local guide was provided in Kotor though for a very short stroll through the down). Budva, where we had lunch (driver directed us to a particular restaurant), was a waste of time; we spent at least 2 hours there including lunch time. Perhaps with another guide this tour, which cost $175/person, would be worth it.
